Amphi woke slowly, as if from a hazy dream. Her body grudingly sat up from the cold floor and looked around. The first thing she noticed was color, the color on her hands...her feet...her clothes. It was a bright contrast to the striking grey from when all she could think about was home.
Home.
Her eyes filled with tears as reality crashed into her. The reality that she had given in too fog, swept away by hate and emotions driven by voices from only inside her. She had attacked her friends...She had attacked Roch.
Guilt burdened her shoulders as she placed her hand on her heart, Roch. She had attacked Roch with no qualms and although he had defended himself...she remember the words he had said. Maybe they did need a break from each other. Maybe she needed to let him go. It was like returning from the hunter island all over again...she was nothing but trouble. He didn't need her there...hurting him. How many times had he been hurt just by being with her? It was any wonder the reaper boil even bothered with her anymore!
She was tricking everyone...she always had been.
No!
That was the voices, ringing in her head like a broken record. Wiping the useless tears away, the mermaid sighed and pushed herself up. Nothing would come if she stayed here. Nothing would come if she sat and lamented in mistakes and self defeat.
The fog swirled around her, licking her ankles as she looked around again. She could feel...call it intuition that this was still the haunted house. Although she could see no roof, nor could she see the floor...The room felt big..open and wide.
Her gaze lingered though in something of the distance of the room, something...She headed towards it, whatever it was that drawn her towards it. It was a lead, a way...Was it something that would help her?
It felt cold...it was bright...it was a cold light. A cold light for the colder Mermaid. Amphi's arms wrapped around herself as she followed it...where ever it would lead.

Cold light, warm light, he wasn't really caring which he headed towards, in fact he was about to ignore them entirely when he saw a familiar head of hair. Roch was no longer insane. He had just been standing there, remembering what little he had done before this--and hating himself. He'd attacked Danny--no, he'd finished her off. And even before he'd gone insane, he'd attacked Amphi.
He was such a b*****d, he thought, hating himself even as he headed for the familiar figure. He hesitated before reaching for her shoulder. "Amphi--" he said. "Blue Eyes... Um... wait."

Among the cold was a familiar heat, a familiar touch of one she cared for. One who held her and cared for her in return.
And one she had hurt. Attacked...
"Roch..." Her voice was a whisper, it was funny that she remember that she hadn't talked to him before she had found her voice. "Roch...Roch I'm so sorry for attacking you." Her hand laid over his and turned, his fond nickname for him...stared right up into him. "Please don't break up with me.....I promise I won't hurt you on purpose anymore!"

He blinked. Wow, that was straight to the point. "Oh... y'remember that, huh?" he said, flushing brightly and rubbing the back of his head. "Look, when I said that, I was talkin' about--well--you were an insanity monster. I mean, I still liked you an' everything, but y'can't really date an insanity monster. I mean, I guess I shoulda tried harder, but y'were kickin' my a** at the time, so--"
This was as deep as Roch's meaningful thoughts went, okay?

Amphi blinked and cocked her head at him. "Well I suppose thats understandable...I mean it's hard to date someone who was bent on killing you...Which I was..." She blinked innocently..."Which I was."

And then he realized.
And he stared.
And he let out a huge "WHOOOOOOP!!" and grabbed her, swinging her around wildly. "You TALKED!!"

Another blink as she was scooped up and swung around. Her laugh resounded off with his as she hugged him tight. Tears sparkled against the corner of her eyes...though not from sadness. From happiness.
"I missed talking to you, I missed singing to you. I was going to come to you right away but I ended up getting lost and stuck in the house and then...I was turned into the monsters and I am so sorry. I should've come to you first..." She nuzzled his cheek and sighed.
"I was just....caught up." She pulled back and then looked around, "This isn't the most ideal...um happy place but...Roch..." She looked at him seriously..."Can I have a kiss?"

She had to ask, he realized, feeling like a moron--but he kissed her full on the lips. They were alive. They weren't insane. There wouldn't be any dramatic moments where one had to kill the other--well, y'know, until something else like this happened.
Then he put her down, hugging her for a moment. "Amphi... y'know, um... I really am sorry bout tryin' t'dump you durin' a... trying time. It didn't mean nothin' other than kissin' an insanity monster might be a little impossible... cuz I ain't sure you had a mouth at the time--"
Whew, Not only was she happy to get the kiss but the explanation made it better. The mermaid, Roch, Was easy to forgive and forget.
"Well...I suppose I could forgive you..." She smiled with amusement and that was it. "I was just heading towards the light...ha...How did you find me? I thought I was alone here..." She hugged him tight before looking around again, "Those voices made me feel very...alone. They said I was manipulating people...that I was using my shy and innocent self to lure people. That I was facading..." she rubbed her temple.
"And it felt so right to fall into the fog. It was so welcoming..." Insanity, what else could it tempt them..."I'm sorry...I'm sorry I attacked you."

"Nah, y'ain't manipulatin," Roch said, flat out. "Trust me--well, there was a LITTLE manipulatin' done, back when y'were chasin' me, but y'didn't even realize it. I'm just a sucker for a pretty voice... and face... and mermaid, hell. But I grew up on the streets, I know when someone's yankin' my chain," he said cheerfully.
"You ever go inta' the situation thinkin' how much y'can get outta it?" he asked her. "Like by datin' me y'could get... mmm... well, close t'someone that could POSSIBLY be talked inta' tryin' t'be famous. Y'could at least get some spare cash offa talkin' me inta doin' parties and such. Then there's my family, Gramps runs a pretty famous underground casino--y'could get some dirt from that on some really powerful jackers--"
"Even a little..." Amphi looked sad as she thought about it. Perhaps there had been moment that she had been. Somehow though she could barely remember it among all things that had happened to her. And poor Roch...still dealing with her problems as well.
"A situation thinking about how I can get out of it?" She blinked, "I date you because I like you Roch, Why would I think of anything else? I mean I enjoy kisses and hugs and stuff....But why would I want cash? Why would I want money?" The mermaid was most defenitly getting confused at Roch, especially at the idea of getting money from him. She had plenty of her own silver seeds!
"dirt on who? Why would I want their dirt?" Roch just was speaking a foreign language to Roch. Seriously! "I don't want dirt or money or things like that. I just want to be friends, and go to school..."

"Exactly," Roch said. "You ain't manipulatin' anyone, blue eyes. Trust me, I know every dirty trick in the book, practically, if y'start becomin' a manipulator, I would notice. So those voices? Jack them, they don't know candlewax." Then he looked her in the eyes, nudging her chin with his forefinger.
"Or d'ya think I wouldn't catch on t'somethin' like that because y'got big pretty blue eyes?" he teased.
She flushed, turning a rare shade of red around Roch before biting her lip. "I...no..um.." flustered would the word Amphi would've gone for, he was flustering her.
"I don't think you would be stupid enough to fall for blue eyes Roch!" And thank god for that because Amphi had big blue eyes, all full of wonder and awe and stuff. "Thank you. I don't know how well I would've done without you." She breathed in again.
"Roch were still stuck in the middle of the haunted house, and it feels....I don't know what to feel right now. I think we should we keep moving." The mermaid smiled up at him again, "or do you want to stay here?" And for the first time...she waggled her eyebrows suggestievly...What.

He burst out laughing. Terrible time, of course, but he couldn't help himself. Then he boldly, evilly, patted her butt. "As much fun as makin' out in the middle of hell sounds, I'mma haveta take a rain check, blue eyes. Soon as we get outta here, though, you an' me are gonna go t'my karaoke booth and--"
He leaned down, whispering in her ear, "You're gonna sing. Cuz jack have I missed that voice of yours."
Amphi shrugged happily and wiggled her way down to the ground, this time instead of cling to him, she wrapped her fingers with his and flushed again.
"I'll sing you whatever you want...though I'm a little rusty, I might sound really bad!" Jack how long had it been since she had sung? Would she still be able?
The mermaid tugged him closer to the cold light, "I think we should go towards this...Its too easy when its warm...And I don't want to keep wandering around?"
