And here she was. Her new home. Saidie watched as the escorts who brought her and her brother to this place spoke to some of the Kitwana'antara members on the border and then went off on their way, unable to enter the actual pride lands because of... what had they said? A plague? What on earth was that, she wondered.

She watched as the escorts left and then looked around. Her brother was already being taken away to be told things about the pride she assumed. It was sort of like in her dream. She had watched her brother run off with someone and then a dark coat with unique white markings had shown up and she remembered that, in her dream, she had spoken to that creature. She couldn't quite remember what she asked, or what was said, let along what the other creature was. Feline maybe? She remembered a long, slender tail... Maybe a cheetah or leopard...

But hey, that was just a dream right? Not like she saw the future or anything.

Maovyo was actually on his way out of the pride when he heard of two new arrivals to the pride. He was actually rather surprised when he heard not only were they lions but they were cubs who had been abandoned by their mother. Once he knew he decided to check the pair out mostly out of curiousity.

As he came to the border he spotted the cubs and a couple of other members. The young male cub was being spoken to but the female had been left by herself some feet away so Maovyo decided to go to her. She was a cute little cub he just felt so sad that she had been dropped here in this pride where death and disease ran rampant through lions.

As he approached her he smiled. "Hello little one."

Saidie blinked and looked up at the large dark leopard before her. That fur! She'd seen it! "Hello! Your coat is really cool." She chirped happily at him, feeling silly about the fact she felt she had seen him already, in a dream. He seemed nice though, so at least he wasn't grumpy, or irritated at having to deal with her. Her escorts had seemed rather unenthusiastic about having to bring her and her brother here, Saidie figured they would rather have gone with her other brothers to meet the family that was adopting them.

"I'm Saidie. Can you tell me where I am?" She asked curiously. The little cub knew what this place was called, but knew nothing about it. It looked a lot different than any place she had traveled by on her way here. It looked less lush and thriving. She got the sense most of the lands and plants here were dead. Because of this realization she began to wonder why on earth her mother would want to send her here. She must have known about this place... did she have family around here or something?

Maovyo smiled at the little cub when she complimented his fur. "Thank you sweetie. You have a pretty coat too." He replied to her as feelings rolled over him and he just wanted to take this little girl somewhere else where she wouldn't have to be exposed to the disease and the possibility of contracting it.

"Well... You're in Kitwana'antara. It's a pride that's not in very good health at least when it comes to lions." He explained and then he drifted off a bit with a saddened expression on his face. "I am sad to see you come to the pride but happy to meet you."

Saidie blinked and looked around the pride, ears twitching as she sniffed the air, then finally moved her gaze back to the leopard. With a nod she spoke, "So that's what the smell is..." She paused then looked back over her shoulder, across the plains she had just traveled upon.

"Well, mom said this place will be my home now, and Aunt Veri is here, so I can't be too bad, right?" She asked as she turned back to him and offered a hopeful smile. She had to remain optimistic. Her mother would not leave her here if it was a horrible, bad place... "Not in good health... there's a disease right? I heard my mom and her sister talking about a disease, what is it?" Maybe the more she learned about her new home the easier it would be to live here. You need to be aware of your surroundings, she told herself.

Maovyo was surprised by the questions the cub had. Such a curious girl she was but he didn't really mind and could understand why she would want to know. Coming to a place where there's talk of disease would make him want to ask questions about it so he would know what to do and what not to do.

"Well from what I have seen over my years first off I don't want to coat it with you. The disease is deadly. It's not easy to spread is what some of the healers have told me but they've also told me not to touch their blood because some healers have gotten sick after doing that. It was a rule that one particular healer made clear to me that no matter what you never touch their blood." Maovyo sighed as he thought of the different asspects of the disease. "I have noticed that the diseases severity varies from lion to lion. Some go a long time with just small symptoms but others progress fast and die within a year. I've watched almost all my life the disease run rampent through the lions. I work with the healers to get them the plants they need to make the medicines to help the sick. I have seen a few lions though that have not got the disease even now. I don't know if it was by luck or being cautious though..."

Maovyo stopped talking for a few moments and gazed at the cub. He really didn't feel comfortable talking with the cub about these things. It was such a morbid topic for a young cub.

The silvery cub nodded and smiled, it wasn't hard to tell he was uncomfortable telling her all this and she figured the longer she stayed, the more she would know, so for now she wouldn't ask more about the disease. Instead, she decided to fixate on his herb gathering, that was interesting to say the least.

"So you gather herbs? That's cool! How do you know which ones do what and that you're picking the right ones?" She asked curiously. It seemed like a fun job, going off and looking for plants that the healers needed... "Can anyone do it?" It seemed like there were not a lot of herbs right in the pride lands, and she couldn't picture a pride that had a disease letting infected members letting just anyone outside the borders... maybe those who were confirmed to have the disease had to stay in a certain part.. she would have to explore with Kasoro and find out. She doubted many of the adults would be honest with her about all this, she would just have to figure it out for herself.

It's not a problem, take as long as you need, I understand. Family and RL comes first <3

Maovyo was glad the she didn't push much more about the disease. He really didn't want to scare her since she was just coming to the pride and it wasn't really optional for her.

At her questions about his occupation within the pride he was happy to share. "Well I was trained starting when I was just an adolescent on how to find each one of the herbs and other plants that the healers need. I shadowed another apothecary and he taught me everything from how to indentify the plants to what plants do what. I know enough to make the medicine for the healers if they need me to." Maovyo explained to her. His training had been extensive and he was still learning about the plants on his own. Some plants had multiple uses and some uses were still being discovered.

"Yes just about anyone can do it. The only ones who can't are mostly the sick because they are not allowed to leave the pride lands and you have to leave the pride almost daily to find the plants you need."
