Through the grapevine Minerva overheard the talk of new trainees. And through that same grapevine, Minnie also overheard that several of her ‘pod-mates’ had already progressed to the intermediate level, and were actively dealing with daily trauma. The most recent of trauma’s causing the earth to shake beneath her feet one day and for all hell to break loose on the island.

And elsewhere…

There were several other things mentioned in conversations that Minerva just happened to stumble across, but the most alarming was that she had fallen so far behind. It was a realization that had struck a cord in her some time ago, but was pushed back by denial. And then pushed back by the forever positive Blythe soon afterward, who reassured Minnie that she was on track and doing fine. Obviously ‘on track’ was a relative phrase…

And it was becoming more apparent that Minerva desperately wanted more suffering. She needed to ACTUALLY start being the death hunter that she knew she was.

Fortunately, today wasn’t one of those ‘make yourself sick by thinking on all of your failures’ kinds of days. The trainee was feeling pretty good about this morning, and rolled out of bed only to meander the halls in search of a new Deus Ex trainee. She was certain that if they didn’t know any more than she did, the two could at least share in a spot of tea or talk about how weird waking up from a pod is, or you know whatever two strangers talk about on the norm here on the island.

It would be fun, she was certain of that much.

However Blythe couldn't disagree more.

GOSH U TAKE 5 EVR SO TERRIBLE <3

Solia was still on the social death ladder of one with the rank of gopher and division b***h. Her tasks were menial, tedious, and thus far not the most impressive. Oh, she got to file mission reports, organize this or that, maybe if she was lucky look as some files for things yet to be done, but overall she was just spending her time doing what others told her to do. The case today being get everyone on the death floor coffee from the one non runic machine. Memorize each order and fill it just so. She was nearly done with her deliveries when another trainee appeared in the midst of the hallways.

“Good morning!” She smiled, dashing into a room to drop off the last salted caramel macchiato. Rushing back out to say hi to the other death trainee, Solia was beaming as she bounced over, hand out stretched. “Sorry, just had to wrap up a task. Are you one of the other newer deathies? I just got out of the pods! Solia Delacroix.” Bouncing on her feet, the girl was excited. More people? The better.

The spritely gal took Minerva by surprise, interrupting a conversation that was only just beginning to transpire between her weapon and herself. An equally startled Blythe gave off the impression that the distraction was most unwelcomed.

"Uhh..." Minnie muttered hesitantly in response, a smile slowly beginning to form in place of initial shock. The cup of coffee coupled with the girl's speedy delivery gave the trainee a better understanding of the run-in and the 'duty' of which she spoke of. This was perfect! This was exactly what she had wanted! The girl was smiles...all smiles. And that was totally okay right now!

At first when Solia popped back into view and gave her cheery follow-up comment, the trainee sighed. Was it that obvious...still? Even after months of being on the island Minerva couldn't shake that 'new girl on the block' feel? Of course it was, she probably looked lost wandering the halls as she had been. It was soo disheartening. But it only took her a moment to shake that off. She was just being overly emotional.

Minnie tried to muster up a bubbly tone to match the other trainees. "Good morning! And don't worry about it." Falling short of her attempts, but maintaining a simple smile all the while. At least she was still smiling back. Then, taking the hand offered to her, Minnie shook Solia's firmly. "I'm Minerva, it's a pleasure to meet you Solia! I don't often get the chance to run into other death trainees!" She pulled back only to latch each hand onto her hips. "I'm, uh, not so new. I've been awake for a while now I guess you could say? But I um...haven't been doing my part?" Minnie gestured to the door Solia had just exited from and then promptly shook her head.

Alas, Solia was made of distractions. Distractions and tangents. Sine and Cosine need not apply however. Israfel chirping up in her head to try and not bounce on her feet so much the jittering slowed into a light rocking from the new death trainee. “Minerva! Just like Professor McGonagall. You don’t a cat type weapon do you? Like cats perhaps? I have a thing for Persians. They’re the cutes-Oh! Sorry.” She waved her hand in front of her, rambling. “But really? Well I just woke up so… everyone is older than me in terms of everything here, not just age. I mean, there is Gale who is like, younger than be but he’s a whole hunter and taller than me too! Rank wise I am the newbie boobie. Even if I uh-“ she looked at her chest, “-lack in one of those things. But yes okay rambling again wow. Sorry.”

Laughter came out as Solia rubbed her arm. “But like you said, it’s great to meet another trainee! No matter how long you’ve been a trainee! It just means we’ve got to work harder you know! I’m sure that you’re doing your part, they probably just want to make sure you have all the beginner stuff down pat! Like where everything is and all the info you need to know and who likes what in their coffee.” A sly smile escaped Solia. “I put tobacco in the drinks of those who couldn’t be bothered to ask politely. I might get in trouble but… it was hard to resist. They’ll get it when they get to the end of their cup. Sweet spicy justice.”

"Ahh," Minnie replied while letting a chuckle slip weakly. She had to fight the urge to hang her head at the reference. "Ha ha, nah Blythe's a zombie of some sort. I think there are different 'types' of them, but I'm not too sure." Pausing as if to wait for the clarifications, Minerva fell slight. Very silent. And the weapons in question didn't reply. So with her gaze still set on Solia, she cleared her throat quickly and continued as if nothing had happened.

"I've met Gale once before!" The name struck chords of familiarity, and the boys blond hair and pale skin, and his accent all coming to the surface. It also seemed to trigger another name, one that made her cheeks warm ever so slightly and brought a touch of pink to her tanned skin. "He's a very smart kid, especially for his age. I guess you learn how to grow up pretty quickly here." After that she raised a brow and watched as Solia dipped her nose toward her chest, taking advantage of the other trainee's momentary breath to say "Everyone has, and will grow." It was an implication and a reassurance all in one. Minnie then couldn't help but laugh along with the other trainee, making a comment "Don't worry about censoring yourself. I like listening." before 'tsk-tsking'.

"You know I probably shouldn't have heard that. Now I'm liable for punishment just as well." A playful smirk tugged at her lips uncharacteristically, falling as soon as she continued. "But I guess you're right about everything else. I'd like to think that there are reasons behind every action here. Even if sometimes thats hard to believe... I just--I don't know. I guess if I'm doing all that is required of me, but I still feel like this, then it's a sign that I should be doing more? I've always taken the initiative on things. It feels wrong to do it otherwise. But lately I've just been..." Slacking off? Lazy? Scared? Her shoulders hiked toward her ears in a high shrug suddenly, sighing only to collapse back into a neutral position. Then her golden curls shook as her head did, dismissing the thought with a wave of a hand similar to the other trainee's gesture before. Solia had a positiveness about her that was contagious. Minnie may wallow in self pity later, but for now it was time to mingle properly.

"So," Narrowing her eyes to inspect the girl for a pendant or keychain or some sort of jewelry, Minnie crossed her arms and turned her head. "What about your weapon, hmmm? How did it call to you?"

iStoleYurVamps
Gale and Minerva had an (unfinished because I suck) conversation about Minerva and Bix's "moment on the beach" a while back. IDK IF U KNEW. I just don't want you to think she has a boner for little Gale. Even though he is adorbs.

Also, this RP can go wherever you want it to! Duel, just casual fun time in the hallway, elsewhere in the building... Idc!

P.P.S. I really like Solia kthnx.

SHE IS JUST A BALL OF OuO

A zombie? How.. disappointing. A cat weapon would have been cute. Still, zombie wasn’t bad. “Well, you’ve got the standard slow zombies, your fast zombies, boomers, shrieks, virus born, smart zombies, rot impervious- and those are just going from modern mythos!” Solia chuckled to herself, thinking to Resident Evil. So many zombies. Press A? Press A? She would punch A more like it. “And I know right? He’s just- augh, cue all the senpai kohai jokes. Not for the typical shojo stuff but man, to be that good to be a hunter already screams of badassery and- Oh god you think so?”

Hands at her bust, Solia looked hopeful, so very hopeful. “I was told I hit my last growth spurt but god, just a little bit more would be nice. Not enough to throw my back, god no, but just enough to not look like I’m just a pretty boy with some shirt stuffing going on.” Realizing she was rambling she shut up for a moment as somewhere down the hall, someone had begun to make rather loud gagging noises. Well that was a victory. Sweet spicy justice. “You know nothing. The sauce was a lie, a conspiracy planted by a life trainee. Because… I guess anytime anything bad happens in death, it’s life’s fault. Always.” More background gaging. “But um- let’s bounce. We can go outside. Fresh air. So stuffy in here sometimes.” Grabbing Minerva’s hand, Solia was smiling all the same, and once outside she let go, spinning in the grass. “Ah, much better. But to follow up-“ Hands on her hips she glared at Minerva. “If you do your job, then that’s what they want, if you feel like you can do more? Do it! Don’t hold yourself back. I mean, sometimes we need a break, just… let it out. Relax and find our muse again. Maybe that’s how it’s like for you? Just kinda that stuck in a rut? I dunno. I usually went and had bobba tea and treated myself to grilled eggplant for dinner when I was in a funk. A good meal and a sweet treat can make the world 50 shades of better. That or chocolate, but that’s.. harder to get here I guess.”

Tapping the rose ring on her hand, the blue and silver bow formed as Solia held it out with a smile. “This is Israfel- I’m not sure really! I was scared in the cove. It felt cramped and like so many things wanted to fight but- He didn’t. He was more worried about me than how well I could fight. He just- He’s basically the best.”

Kohai? That was something oriental, right? Gale wasn't...asian.

Minnie chuckled suddenly to silence Blythe's interjection, belligerent rants preceding the dismissal within the hunters head in hushed, child-like tones. Luckily her laughter didn't seem too out of place, just in time to catch Solia gripping her chest. But it also could have been interpreted differently, as it co-mingled with the sound of someone hacking in the backdrop. Evidence. It was all Minnie needed to know that Solia's trickery had worked.

And it had worked perfectly.

Now was certainly not the time to linger.

Her smile grew wide enough to show teeth, but wavered. A hand raised to place her fingers to her lips, teething on her nails while her head shook in mock disapproval. It would be all fun and games until their leader were to show...and THEN what would Minerva have to say for herself? What would either of them have to say? The trainee didn't even want to think about what suffering might follow... But Solia was already one step ahead, grabbing hold of Minerva's hand even before she had time to voice her growing concerns. They made a quick and painless retreat before either of them could be seen.

And if they had been seen, and if anyone decided to approach them on the matter........Minnie had no plans of talking.

The breath of fresh air was short lived, at least for the time being. She had relaxed on a spot in the grass for only a moment before Solia's voice was once again filling the silence. This time there was a sternness backing up every word that even seemed to throw Minerva off; despite how short of a time they had spent with one another. Hazel eyes snapped open, brows furrowing in confusion at first before hiking in surprise. It was true, everything that the young girl was saying. Minerva had the drive, the smarts, but all she needed was the motivation. Perhaps it was a rut that she found herself in, one that was only enabled by her coddling weapon... Solia had made her scolding short, sweet, and to the point. But it was the verbal a** kicking that the trainee needed. The type that her mom would usually give if Minnie seemed out of sorts. Suddenly it all made sense.

And suddenly the trainee began to feel restless.

Minnie dropped her gaze to eyeball the ring on Solia's finger, and then to the bow that formed, following the other trainee's gestures in a way that seemed anamatronic. "He's beautiful." She was sincere, but her grin was slowly falling. Whether she meant that the story leading up to Israfel's finding or the ring itself was beautiful, she didn't specify. It was left to be assumed that both were equally charming. Inwardly, she thought back on her venture to find Blythe...a warmth filling her just as the memory did.

"I'm glad I ran into you, Solia." She whispered soon after, tilting her head back to feel the sun against her cheeks. But even as she tried to keep a steadiness to her tone, the desiring tingle that reached every extremity begged to be tended to. She was antsy and anxious now, all ready to get started on something, on anything. It took her several minutes to realize that even if it meant networking with the trainee before her, and breaking out of that comfortable shell of lonliness she had become so fond of, would suffice for getting SOMETHING done. Leaning onto her left foot heavily, and then back to the right, Minerva spoke again. This time, it seemed to be with a bit more relief.

"Blythe hates it when I try to make friends. She is very protective, and would probably starve herself of FEAR just to make sure I wasn't put into any danger..." The sickles were summoned then, gripped in both of her hands firmly. They had certainly been starved of attention for far too long, that was for sure. "But I like you! And I think this is good for me. So, what now? I can't say I know where to start on this island...still. "

Rusty my butt Shia <3 AUGH YOU ARE FABBU

To Solia, it was all just life’s fault. Sorry Lex, Ami, take one for team death trainee. Hoes before bros. Even if neither of the life trainees were really ‘bros’. Ami was a girl for one thing and Lex was Lex and more just pancake man. It all made a lot more sense in her head. Her ideas of who to pin the dastardly deed aside, To see Minnie perk up had Solia’s grin widening. “See, things happen and something always comes of them. I mean, things might seem like they’re down in the dumps or that it’s all bleak but there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Just don’t go running for it if you get KO’d that… that’s kind of a light you don’t really want to run for. Well, maybe in a few cases but I like to think that life is worth every second. You only live once and all that jazz.”

YOLO. Or twelve times if you were the doctor.

“Blythe? That’s a rather pretty name!” As the sickles were brought out, Solia’s face lit up like that of a kid at Christmas. “If she’s protective that just means she cares! Israfel frets and makes bird noises when he worries. It’s actually really cute!” In her head, the siren gave a small chirp of embarrassment.

“But god your weapon is badasssssss.” She hissed the s, brown eyes taking them details in. “And I like you too! Minerva right? I might call you McGonagall if I forget. And um um-“ Looking around, the training dummies were not far off in the distance. “We can spar! Or go try to figure out some key combos to max out chains. Or we can uh-“ Suddenly there was yelling from in the building.

“Never mind.”

You're totally helping me along with getting back into RPing *___* I love it! I LUV UR STYLE. U r fabbu!

Minerva bit down on her lip in thought, a short giggle slipping between teeth and flesh. She had a joke, and it was coming. Fast. "Or twice, in our case." Because we were pronounced dead in the real world, you know? And we are leading new lives now!

Blythe laughed if only to humor her Hunter.

But whether or not the other trainee would find it worthy of a chuckle was yet to be seen. As the conversation rolled on, Minerva seemed hopeful that the fail would just be ignored; it seemed better that way. Minnie was never really good at making funnies. The trainee followed along with Solia's thought process as if nothing had happened.

"Thank you!" She cooed with her eyes on Blythe, reassuring her of something discretely by squeezing at the handles several times. Blythe was being her usual self, too proud to admit that Solia was cool and too disgusted to accept that her hunter was becoming somewhat-pals with the un-cool trainee. But something changed drastically as the girl mentioned Blythe and 'badass' in the same sentence. Suddenly, green smoke which spilled from each skull socket began to flicker wildly in approval.

Meanwhile, Minerva shrugged her shoulders and hiked her brows; shutting both eyes for a moment, sighing, before fluttering them open again. "Yup, it's Minerva! Or you can call me Minnie...or McGonagall. Whatever works for you." At this point, she really had to come to terms with the facts. Everyone who knew about the damned story would be on her case about it, and would probably use similar nicknames. Probably. It would just have to work. And it seemed to be another chip brushed off the girls shoulder as Minnie smiled in a reassuring fashion, similar to the gesture she had given Blythe.

The yelling tensed her up momentarily, not wanting to look over her shoulder but reactively doing so anyway. Dirty-blond curls whipped in the air briefly, sticking to the sides of her lips just as adrenaline surged to them. The mentioning of a spar brought the focus back on to the tingles she felt. The need to do something. And it was as if Solia had tapped into that somehow and knew... "YES! Um, I mean I definitely think we could fit in a quick spar? It would make us look less suspect to the...uh...You know." After, and as subtly as possible, Minnie removed the hair from her mouth. "If Israfel is down as well?"

ROLL FOR INITIATIVE

Oh god it glowed and smoked. “Holy s**t how did you do that?” She stared at Minerva like she was a witch. Holding up the bow, she smiled. “Israfel can just glow. See?” The rose gave a small flicker. But aside from that, nothing. “If I fire an arrow, he makes like… a music note. Hrm, it’s kind odd but it’s cool too. If I could fire them off I sometimes wonder if I’d get a song but Isra says probably not.” Solia hoped maybe eventually she could see if the music was actually some kind of code or the like.

“Ahhh double scythes. So cool. Minerva.” Solia nodded. “I’ll get it. Eventually. Once I do, no worries, until then? So bad.” Scooting from the building she laughed as they reached the training grounds.
“Um best of three? I have no idea how to do a fast spar aside from trying to hit things.” Trying, key word. “I almost wish I had taken archery but- ahaha, no. I went with normal. Volleyball for my sport of choice.”

ROLLING! SORRY THIS TOOK FOREVER!

"She does it herself. I guess you could say I am the inspiration behind the activity, though. Depends on if I piss her off or not." Minerva chuckled while Blythe gave a subtle confirmation in the form of on-and-off again puffs of smoke.

As they moved toward the training grounds Minnie admired the glow of Solia's weapon from afar. "That's really pretty, actually! I wasn't aware of the ability to produce sounds from weapons." So far, everything the other trainee had said about Israfel gave off the impression of 'pretty'. Inwardly she wondered what the creature within the bow might have looked like before the joining. And then she wondered why Blythe hadn't tried making sounds before.

THIS IS HALLOWEEN, THIS IS HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN, halloween, halloween doo-dee-doo-doo-doo-dee-do!>

Oh well that was lovely but...um... "Best out of three is fine by me!" Minnie moved on quickly, leaving Blythe to wonder whether or not to give singing a try. Prepping herself with a quick stretch, the trainee rolled her shoulders back, her neck on its axis, and then bounced up on her toes. Then she crouched into her usual fighting stance with both sickles out at her sides, curving toward her. "Let's see what kind of melody Israfel will play for us today!"
