So , I haven't posted in months, unusably due to crisis in faith.
Anyway, about a year ago, I acquired a vampire themed tarot deck out of a freecycle box, but was warned against using it as, well ,there's no knowing where it's been or what it had been used for, but it was a neat find.
Fast forward to the 9th of October of this year, and I go to pick up my pre ordered copy of Dishonored for Ps3, and I get an unexpected pre order surprise.
A Dishonored themed Tarot deck, meaning a brand new Tarot deck. I never expected this.
So, I did want to ask, is a used tarot deck really so bad? And does the printing on the cards really matter so much?

It's not necessarily bad but it isn't very smart. If I were you, I would purify the deck thoroughly first before even considering using it so that the old energies on it are gone and nothing has influence over the use of them other than your own energy.

Well in that case I may as well just use the brand new deck, since I have no idea about purifying a card deck.

Purifying a deck is simple. You can set it on your window sill for exactly 24 hours. That's the quickest way if you're desperate but since you have another deck, the more efficient way is to set it on your window sill for one whole moon cycle (from new to new or full to full). I recommend new to new since the new moon is coming soon but that's only if you want to be able to use this deck sometime in the future. Those are the only ways I can think of that will purify the deck with little effort and no damage; hope it was helpful!

I know it's not very good to use a used tarot deck, since you never know what kind of energies surround it. Anywho, I think I'll write this down.

Sorry, my memory in astronomy is a bit rusty. Also, does the artwork of the deck matter at all? The old one I got my paws on is vampire themed, and the one I have that's new is Dishonored themed, so steampunk.

Well this purification method works for almost anything but if it were me I would not use a used deck. But it's only if you're really wanting to use it. I don't recommend always doing this for tarot decks. Plus I just assume that this method works since it works for other divination tools and objects. The old one I got my paws on is vampire themed, and the one I have that's new is Dishonored themed, so steampunk. I believe that moon cycles are always one month in length. But the artwork does matter if it was hand-made and had some sort of intention in it but I think it's safe to say that your vampire-themed deck is not printed by hand so it should be fine. Just as long as your thoughts are pure of harm when you use it after purifying it. But if it's a more than just a few times used deck, which I would just assume from the get-go, I wouldn't use it if you can avoid it. Just make sure to put good thoughts into it when you do touch it and then let it set for a while. That should help with the purification as well.Edit by Mod: Please don't double post - it's against our guild rules. Instead, hit up the edit button. wink

Still, it's worth a try, if you do want to use a tarot deck/purifying other divining items.
