This time of the year, there were always bundles of specials on your generic horror films. If she had been of the patient sort, Anella might have waited until after Halloween, but where was the fun in that? How was she expected to get into the spirit if she couldn't even snag a few corny movies to keep her occupied during her down time?

She might have been recently indoctrinated into this creepy, underground war, but that didn't mean she was about to give up her personal life. Especially when she needed her downtime now, more than ever.

It wasn't that she was necessarily afraid of what she'd gotten herself involved in; she was just having a hard time coming to terms with it.

And what better escape from all that madness than a little hardcore zombie action? Or maybe werewolves were the way to go? Were vampires still in season? Or were killer sheep all the rage?

Anella crossed her arms over her chest and, lips pursed, gave the movies in front of her a very stern look, as if by doing so, the perfect selection would suddenly present itself to her.

Vythica loved this time of year. There were so many new Horror movies coming out in the theaters, though she was a bit weary about spending money to go see them. She had been burned one too many times to make that mistake again. Though some were tempting she opted for the more economical option.

She was feeling a bit lack luster about what she currently had in her dorm. Having watched many of them over and over again she needed something fresh.

Making her way through the aisles, Vyth finally found her way into the Horror section. Only to find another girl there with a very stern look on her face. As if she just couldn't quite make up her mind on what video she wanted. Or perhaps, like her, just wanted the perfect one to make her night.

"Excuse me." She made sure the girl was there just to make sure she didn't suddenly start since she looked like she was into some intense thinking. Smiling she adjusted her purse on her shoulder. "You seem a bit conflicted, might I make a suggestion? I've got a pretty good idea about what are good and which you shouldn't waste your time on."

Anella blinked and directed her attention to the girl who had just showed up. She had been looking at the DVDs so intently that she hadn't even seen or heard her approach. To cover how off guard she'd been, she flashed a smile. "Oh, you think?" she asked, taking a step back so that she wasn't obscuring the DVD rack from view. "Well—yeah, sure. I mean, I'm basically floundering here, so if you've got a suggestion, I'm all ears. I've been slacking a bit, haven't been keeping up with what's out. Of course, I never really suspected that it was gonna be hard to pick out a flick, you know?" she confessed, rubbing the back of her now slightly sore neck.

There were so many options, and only so much time in the world.

Oh! But she couldn't let herself be rude. If the girl was offering her help, she could at least be grateful. She held out a hand, and, grin on her face, introduced, "Anella, Anella Harwood." Her eyes drifted back to the films. "So, think you can help me out?"

Taking the other girl's hand she shook it firmly. "Vythica van Dread, a pleasure Anella."

She chuckled lightly with a small shake of her head. "Yea I totally get that. Its a pain in the a** sometimes. Especially with all that's been flooding the genre lately."

Stepping up to the shelf, she pulled down a few DVDs. "Of course, there are always the classics to fall back on. I prefer a lot of the older horror movies to the newer ones as they tend to be more shock and gore than actual horror. Foreign horror movies are good if you are less into gore and more into the atmosphere scare."

Vyth held up the DVDs one by one. "The original Evil Dead is pretty good, though there is a remake coming out soon that I'm kind of curious about. I like the original Pulse as well, again its an atmosphere type horror while the American remake is more about the sudden shock." She tucked those under her arm.

"If you are into vampires Bram Stoker's Dracula is pretty good, I'm not too sure about those Underworld movies really. I'm on the fence though about the Resident Evil movies. I liked the games but they've just been spewing out movie after movie so fast it makes it hard to keep up. Zombies, Night of the Living Dead is good. Or George Romero's Diary of the Dead." She tried her best to cover most of what Anella might be looking for. Or at least offer her suggestions that might interest her in some way.

She could ramble on all day if someone let her.

"Yesssss," Anella purred, clearly eager that the girl seemed so knowledgeable. It helped massively that she was listing off a vast array of very good movies. Anella had spent a lot of time watching movies in the past, and horror had always been one of her favorite genres—even if she was a sap for a good romance.

"You really know your stuff!" she said, unable to keep the excitement out of her voice. "And you sound like a girl with pretty good tastes!" Anyone who could list their films so expertly was definitely someone you wanted to know—and definitely someone you wanted to keep around.

"I've seen…most of those," she confessed, though there were two that she hardly recognized. She had seen Kairo once, a few years ago, and heard of the American version, though had passed over it for several years already. It wasn't intentional, just something that happened. The other, she hadn't so much as heard of. "The Diary of the Dead one—you think it's good?" she asked, selecting a copy from the DVD and giving it a look over. "Zombies, I like. I've got massive hots for you know, the smart evil creatures. Demons, vampires, ghosts. Not that I'm hating on Frankenstein or werewolves or other weird creatures, just."

She let out a slightly dreamy sigh as she glanced over the back of the DVD. "I just really love a good horror story."

Ahh yes, there came the bit of ego oozing out as a wide grin plastered itself across Vyth's face. She was indeed very proud of her knowledge about the Horror genre. "Well, you really got to so you don't get suckered into the bad ones. Like I said, burned one too many times at the theatre."

Oh boy. She really...really hoped that Anella wasn't one of those Twilight fans. Those movies made her want to barf. And from the dreamy sigh she kind of suspected it.

"Oh yea. George A. Romero does some amazing movies. His other films include Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, the Night of the Living Dead movies, Survival of the Dead, Land of the Dead. Plus a lot of others. He did the tv series Tales from the Darkside..." Of course she was rambling but now it was Vyth's turn to let out a dreamy sigh. The man was almost a genius in her eyes when it came to Horror, Zombies and all that creepy stuff.

She laughed. "Oh no yea I get it. I watched Interview with a Vampire a few times." Vyth had to admit, she did like a sexy vampire every now and again. "Any who. Diary of the Dead is about a bunch of film students who run into Zombies while making their own film. And what they go through as Zombies start to take over and society falls down around them. So its got story to it and isn't just mindless Zombie killing."

This seemed to perplex Anella, who immediately looked down at the disc in her hand. "This is by the same—wow. I'm not the best with directors and stuff," she confessed—that sort of thing just didn't interest her. Actors, meh. Directors, producers—she hardly cared. "So George A. Romera's done some good stuff. Yeah, I could get into this," she said, pondering the movie for a mere moment before she grinned. "All right, I'm sold—this one."

Her gaze immediately went from the case and she looked at Vythica gratefully. "You are my hero! —You know, you are totally invited to come over and watch this some time. Have a big movie marathon or something," she said, providing a rather genuine laugh. It might have been a little over friendly, but Anella was sort of about taking risks.

Besides—just because Vythica watched horror flicks didn't mean she was horror material, right? It's not like she was inviting some serial killer back to her place. Probably.

She laughed, waving a hand back and forth in front of her face. "I'm not the greatest with most directors or even actors. But there area few that I follow religiously." Vyth grinned. Glad that Anella seemed pretty receptive of her suggestion.

"Sure that sounds cool. I can bring some of my own collection. I've got some old black and whites too. B type horror movies, nothing too main stream. They aren't like oh my god super scary but they are fun to watch." She was proud of her collection of movies. Or at least what she had room for in her dorm room. What was back home was the bulk of her stuff. But she had managed to drag a couple of the older things along with her when she moved to the city. And honestly if Anella was that interested in horror movies Vyth wouldn't mind breaking out the old projector and sharing them with her.

Reaching into her purse, she pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. Scribbling on it quickly before handing it to her. "Whenever you wanna plan it just give me a ring or a text."

Anella took the paper and, out of habit, gave it a quick look over. She smiled again before pocketing the number. "Will do," she promised, apparently expressing absolutely no awkwardness in the situation. She had never been the sort to be socially shy, and sometimes you made the best of friends by going out on a limb.

So Vythica seemed a little young—big deal! It's not like she was trying to seduce her or anything, and it would be a nice change to be around someone younger than herself that wasn't still wetting their pants. "I'll shoot you a text and see when you're free as soon as I figure out what I'm doing. Thanks—again—for the recommendation. If it's any good, I will definitely be calling you up soon," she laughed.

"Awesome." Vyth was never socially shy or awkward either. If her just giving her number like that to Anella and agreeing to hang out later was an indication of that. She was happy to just hang out with random people she had just met. Especially if they had the same interests as her.

Its not like she had never hung out with older people anyhow.

Reaching up onto the movie rack, she snapped up a DVD herself before giving Anella a small wave. "You're welcome. I'll see ya around, Anella." Going as quickly as she came, Vyth headed towards the front counter. Paying for her movie then zipped out of the store to head home.

In good spirits, Anella waved the girl off. She had a smile on her way as she tucked the movie under her arm and finished her round of shopping before heading to the check out, herself. All in all, she had to figure that it was a good experience—she'd met an interesting, helpful girl, snagged a movie she was actually excited to see, and hadn't blown her whole wallet on useless trinkets.

Excitement bubbled through her as she shopped, and perhaps it was because she was eager to see the movie Vythica picked out that she didn't dawdle for too long in the store. Paying for her purchases, she left the store with a skip in her step.

All that was left to do was see if Vythica's tastes were as good as she'd hoped.
