Unbelievable! I don't have a saga written for Inu Yasha. Well, thanks to last night, I get to start one.
The basic story of Inu Yasha is about this half demon named Inu Yasha who meets up with a human woman named Kagome. Together along with a monk named Miroku, a demon hunter named Sango, a fox demon named Shippo, a flea whose name escapes me, and a demon cat named Kirara (pronounced Kee-la-la), they must find a sacred jewel that has been smashed thanks to Kagome's poor archery skills. Blocking their path for this quest are hordes of evil demons and fearful villagers across the feudal era of Japan including Inu Yasha's full blooded demon half-brother named Sesshomaru and Sesshomaru's crew, which includes an imp named Jagen and a human girl named Rin.
And now, for episode one of this dream saga.
Inu Yasha and Kagome, still looking for the jewel shards has managed to escape Japan waters and entered the continent known as North America. Back then, North America was not yet fully discovered. Inu Yasha and Kagome journey to Canada where they enter into the province of Alberta. Once there, they detect a jewel shard affecting a cow in Duffield. This cow, filled with demonic aura has caused much turmoil already. Horses, bears, and other farm-life animals have grown fearful of this one beast and were even more afraid when Inu Yasha came storming in with his sword Tetsaiga gleaming in the sunlight.
The farmers, however, welcomed Inu Yasha hoping that he could do something about this mad-cow. I, of course, was there too, being immortal and all in the dream world. I knew Inu Yasha could help. Inu recognized me right away. He even tilted his head like a curious puppy and asked, "Empress Dee? What are you doing here?"
I replied with a giggle, "You've entered the province in which I live in when in the waking world. In the future, this farm will belong to my cousin Jennifer and her husband Tyrell."
Kagome had stars in her eyes and said, "Oh how sweet! Inu, we stumbled upon someone else's past. Do you think its a sign that we should...?"
"Can it, Kagome!" Inu barked angrilly. Then he turned to me and asked, "Okay, so we stumbled onto your cousin's farm. Now, where is this jewel shard I am sensing?"
Shaking my finger like a parent, I replied, "Not so fast Inu. I will tell you where the shard is of course, but in return for this shard you must prove to me one thing."
"What?!" Inu barked.
"You must prove to me what your heart truly feels for Kagome. Until then, the cow that possesses the shard will continue to torment these people. I can keep the cow from killing anyone or anything, but I think Kagome might have had a point when she was trying to express her feelings towards you. I can tell right now that despite her commands to make you eat dirt, and despite the constant arguing, she truly does love you."
"Grr," Inu growled, "All right, fine! I will prove it to you. But, you better not use any of your magic to brainwash either of us."
"No worries, I won't. But, I will make suggestions. Canada can be very beautiful and romantic in the autumn if you give it a chance. Just take one good smell at the sweet maple trees in the area and you will see what I mean. Take the time to look around and take your mind off of your mission for once."
Inu grunted, but he took one deep breath in as he took in the many smells in the area. Instead of feeling romantic, though, he felt hungry. Giggling, Kagome suggested, "Dee, do you think we could have some breakfast first? I think someone is a little hungry."
"Of course," I replied.
Being the magical person that I was, I cooked up a feast filled with bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, and never forgetting the ever-so-popular, maple syrup. Inu devoured his portion in seconds while Kagome took her sweet time savoring and enjoying every bite of her portion. "This is so good," Kagome swooned.
Inu didn't say anything to the comment, but was looking around at the modest surroundings. Being that it was ancient times, the buildings were made from wood. Inu suddenly felt the need to mark his territory, but before he had the chance, I swiped his sword from his side, then pointing the tip at his waist, I said, "Don't you even think of doing that business in here. Use a toilet if you have to pee."
"How did you...? Aww, never mind. I'll go use the toilet." Inu allowed me to keep a hold of his sword for the time being. Now normally, if Inu is without his sword for a duration of time, his demon half takes over. But, because it was me holding the sword, Inu could remain in his normal form without worry of transforming.
Kagome was curious, however, about how I could wield Inu's sword when Inu himself had such a hard time with it. I simply told her, "Inu has not yet shown his true feelings towards you yet. And until he does, this sword will be of no use to him. I, on the other hand, know who and what I am protecting. This sword is really light to me even in its full form. It is unfortunate that this sword won't remain in Inu's blood line for long though regardless of the outcome. He does, however, with your help, discovers a shield. A mirror shield that holds much power. In fact, that is how Inu Yasha dies...sort of. When Inu gets older and I mean much older, his essence, his spirit, it fuses with the mirror shield that you and he finds. You pass the shield on to your daughter who then passes it onto Mai Shiranui. The sword comes to be in Sesshomaru's possession out of a request from you and Rin. Inu's sword then passes to a man named Iori Yagami who feels that he has not much use for Inu's sword, but he does actually take good care of it."
"What of Sesshomaru's sword?" Kagome asked next.
"Sesshomaru's sword remains, but its new owner has a pendant seal the sword's power within it. Iori holds that pendant in the future as Sesshomaru will not be single forever. Sesshomaru in fact, starts the Yagami blood line, which at first will be as evilly demonic as he is now. But, the last of the blood line, Iori, he resists the evil power seeing as it has caused too much needless bloodshed. Iori will despise violence, though he will be very powerful and powerful enough to wipe out an entire planet in his demonic form. As you can see, I can wield Inu's sword, which I will eventually use to protect Iori himself from someone who would be trying to release the demon Orochi, who, as you remember resides in the sword that was in your shrine. The Kusanagi sword."
"You mean...that sword wasn't destroyed and sealed for all time after all?"
"Not even close. Yes, it had been sent to hell, but that's only because there wasn't someone of the Kusanagi blood line to have the sword. Your brother is a Kusanagi believe it or not. And it will be he who finds the sword when he becomes Miroku's age. He will be travelling with his wife, who would be pregnant at the time. He changes his name to Saisu. His wife gives birth to a baby boy named Kyo who is the rightful owner of the Kusanagi sword. Because Kyo didn't believe the stories that we are living now, the sword isn't much use to him. But, when he has to banish the same man that I kill with Inu's sword in the future, Kyo finally understands why the Kusanagi sword must remain in the Kusanagi blood line."
"But what of all that destruction we saw?" Inu asked as he was finally finished in the bathroom.
"That would have been the future if you would have let the man who was using it continue to do so. That man was not a Kusanagi. Anyone who uses the sword that is not of the Kusanagi blood line will cause hell's gates to open in the wrong way. The Kusanagi sword is supposed to keep Hell's gates closed for all time providing that the sword is kept within the family blood line. Your father, Inu Yasha will not remain where he is forever. In fact, you will meet him again someday. In 1971 he becomes known on a Planet called Hamster and his name is Loki lord of the wolves. He can speak the language of men and of dog-kind. Your father is a great demon, Inu. And for what he did for your mother, that was a noble act. He loved your mother."
Inu growled, "How do you know so much that I don't huh?"
"I did my homework. Plus, I am immortal. I have been around for a very long time already. I learned much in my journeys."
Growling again, Inu grabbed Kagome's hand and left the cabin. Kagome asked him, "What about your sword?"
"I don't need it! Dee can have it for all I care. She seems to wield it better than I can anyways."
Inu and Kagome got to a quiet spot in the pastures where Kagome forced Inu to sit. She then sat beside him, still holding his hand. Looking at the clouds, Kagome said, "Inu, I know how you must feel for Dee knowing so much. But, she told me something rather interesting."
"And what would that be?!"
Kagome was near tears now for Inu's constant yelling, and said, "She said that if you truly do not show how you feel for me, then not only is Sesshomaru going to own your sword, but he is going to kill you with it. He's going to find the secret to wielding the sword and take advantage of that moment. Dee wants us to succeed in this very badly. She's seen much, just like she said."
Inu grunted again, not understanding a thing Kagome said just now. He looked at the clouds trying to make some sense of the madness. Softening his looks, he asked Kagome, "Kagome, what if Dee is wrong? What if, what if you and I aren't meant to be?"
Kagome then replied, "The only way that we will know for sure is if you and I try to do what she says. Just for now. And besides, its not like much will change anyways right? We will still be looking for the jewel shards and maybe, just maybe, if Dee is right, those beads, they will come right off."
Inu then asked, "Do you suppose we should kiss to find out?"
"We could, but Inu," Kagome said, "you have to truly mean it. Not just for the sake of finding out. If you truly do love me, then just let yourself do what your body commands. Let your instincts take over."
Inu then decided that then wasn't the right time to kiss Kagome. He just wasn't sure. Perhaps Inu was afraid of showing feelings because he felt like he would change as a demon.
Shippo was spying nearby and wondered what was going on. Miroku kept Shippo from finding out though. He said to the fox, "Shippo, I think we should allow Kagome and Inu Yasha some space."
"But time is running out," Shippo whined, "If things don't happen soon then who knows what the future is going to bring."
"Relax, Shippo, would ya?"
Shippo had already taken off, but not for where Kagome and Inu were. He went to the cabin to seek me out and perhaps to help move things along faster. I told Shippo, "I promised Inu Yasha that I would not use my magic to force him and Kagome to fall in love. If I did that, then it would not be true love and more disaster will fall. Look, Shippo, in this case, you are just going to have to trust in me and in your friends."
Kagome and Inu began walking through the forest part now when a bear threatened Kagome's life. Inu turned into the demon and slashed the bear, but Kagome's life was still in danger. Feeling overwhelmed for Kagome for once, tears naturally fell from Inuyasha's eyes. "No!" he barked, "This can't be happening! Oh hell! Do I have to show my feelings now of all times?!"
Just then the spirit of Inu's father floated down in front of him. "Inu Yasha," the dog demon said, "To love someone does not change who you are. In fact, to love someone will make you stronger. Follow your heart and your instincts. A demon who is afraid isn't a demon."
As the dog demon faded, Inu took hold of Kagome and kissed her deeply. His eyes still wet with tears, in his mind he prayed that Kagome would survive. But that kiss wasn't enough. When he released her, he felt her spirit leaving him, which caused him to kiss her again. As he did so this time, he thought as if his mind would talk for him, "Kagome...I...I...I...I love you."
"Mmm," Kagome murmured as her spirit was returning to her. Inu's feelings were performing magic on their own.
"Oh!" Inu exclaimed as he allowed himself to freely show his feelings towards Kagome.
They ended up making love that night, the jewel shard fell right by them as they woke up in each other's arms the following day. I passed Inu Yasha his sword as he and Kagome were going to continue the journey to find the rest. "Now your sword will work for you, Inu. Just remember the night that just passed and how you felt. Fighting for someone will always give you an upper hand regardless of your blood line. And here is a secret, I can wield your sword, Inu because I protect the entire Renaissance Galaxy."
"Thanks, Empress," was all Inu said before he and his friends left for their next destination.
