The morning had been spend gathering herbs. Lapin wanted to make sure her stockpile was filled up, to the point of possibly overflowing the spot where she stored them, before winter hit in. Already it was cold in the mornings and didn't exactly get all that warm during the day. She had traveled a good distance from the herd in order to find all the herbs needed. There was still a few more to collect before Lapin would be completely satisfied with her stockpile but those ones did not grow in this area and so they would need to be collected another day. Plucking a few leaves from a mint plant Lapin carefully placed them into the bag on Lightfoot's bag, which was already quite fill and near the point of overflowing. "I think that's all we can get today." She told the rabbit giving the pile of herbs a final push with her nose to make sure none would fall out on the way home. The backpack was heavy, heavier than normal when they went to gather herbs before. But then again this was the first winter that Lapin was acting as the herds healer and she really wanted to make sure she was completely prepared for anything and everything. "Are you sure you got everything?" He asked even though he knew the bag couldn't hold anymore."Well if you had a larger pack we could get more." She half teased Lightfoot. "We can always come back tomorrow to gather more." And it was likely going to happen, at least after they gathered the other herbs she wanted to get. Wandering across the meadow Lapin kept her eye out for other herbs, even though she knew the bag was full, if she came across any that were harder to find she would not pass them up. After a short time Lapin decided it was time to call it a day on the herb collecting. "Why don't you head back to the herd Lightfoot. Start putting the herbs away and I'll be there soon, I just want to look around a bit more." Knowing that he would be wanting to unload the pack as soon as possible Lapin began to wander off towards the edge of the meadow.Lightfoot nodded his head. "Okay, try not to be too long." Making sure his pack was on securely Lightfoot began to journey home, being careful not to shake his backpack too much as he went or else the herbs may fall out and then he and Lapin would have another long day of herb collecting. Though honestly he knew there would be a few more before winter set in.

Cuán was...not exactly happy. He had not seen anyone in days, and the last soquili had made it more than clear that he was not wanted. He had just wanted to please him, so he had left. Knowing he was underfoot, knowing that it was just better this way. He had been there before really. Underfoot. His mother and brother long gone, his meetings with his father few and far between. Conri simply felt that if the colt was his...he would make sure he was alive, and that was pretty decent so far as fatherhood went. Cuán never felt like he should speak up. Never felt that he should place the burden of taking care of himself on his father. So he smiled, was happen when their paths crossed, and kept on his way. Finding himself in a strange bit of land, not entirely sure where he was or how he had gotten there, simply glad that it seemed peaceful, he seemed rather resigned to yet another day alone. Then a bit of movement caught his eye and he found his head turning, catching sight of a mare he had never seen before. Looking at the ground as she moved along at the edge of the meadow...perhaps looking for something. That was something he could help with. The very idea had his ears swiveling forward in interest, ear wings fluttering a bit as he approached. An odd mixture of almost timid and wanting to rush forward to help as soon as possible. "Did you lose something Miss? I could help you find it if you want. I am at your disposal." Always willing to be of service. Always.

Too busy looking for extra herbs Lapin didn't notice the strangers approach until he spoke. Being caught off guard Lapin took a few quick steps away before spinning around to see...another Usdia. Not at all what she had expected. Oh and he had minicorn blood in him! How fantastic! She had minicorn blood too but it was obvious none of it showed, it was far more present in Poe than in her. And then she noticed the butterfly wings behind his ears. She'd never see anything like that. Well that wasn't true she's seen that Putticorn one time, but his ear wings were different from these. And then Lapin's eyes settled upon his tail. Woah! Look at that! She had definitely never seen a tail like that. Her own short tail began to flick happily and Lapin had nearly forgotten what the other had said something in her excited inspection of the other.
With a small shake of her head Lapin returned to her senses. "Oh, hello. No, I haven't lost anything." She paused for a moment and then her old ways flared up of talking too quickly and asking too many questions in a single breath. "You're part minicorn, so I am, but you can't tell since I look more like a Nymph. My sister has a horn like yours, only it's not truly like yours, it's quite different. You're ear wings are really neat! I've only ever seen on other with ear wings but his were different, more feathery. What do they do? You're tail is very interesting, I've never seen anything like it. Can it grab things? What are you wearing a pelt? You have very nice markings. I got my markings from my mom mostly but my green comes from my father." Lapin suddenly forced herself to stop talking. She knew better than to assault others with her endless words, but old habits died hard and it was something she hadn't grown out of once she hit adulthood. "Sorry, I get a little carried away sometimes." She lowered her head for a second and then looked back up at him. "My names Lapin."

He noticed her inspection, but did nothing to stop it. And then the questions began. He stared at her, mouth not quite agape, trying desperately to remember all of her questions. He would try to acknowledge and answer each and every comment to the best of his ability, most liked to have their questions answered and to know that the other was listening. Of course it would be rude to interrupt so he waited for her to finish. "Oh no, it is no problem Lapin, my name is Cuan." He dipped his head to her in greeting and then launched into his answers.
"Indeed, my mother was part minicorn, and part pixie, hence the horn and the wings. I do not believe I have met a nymph, and I am sure your sister is quite interesting. My ears do not do much, though I have heard that pixie blood might make flowers grow well around me. My tail comes from my father though, and it can grab on to larger things but cannot be used for anything too delicate. He is also the one responsible for me having a pelt, it was a present too me one time when he was passing through. My flower markings come from my mother, and I have been told my face markings somewhat come from her as well. I think the green looks very nice on you, your parents must be very proud of you."
He was glad to be done, he was pretty much out of breath from talking so much, and especially about himself. He cocked his head as he looked at her. "Did you have any other questions for me Lapin?"

At least he didn't seem too offended by her barrage of questions. Usually strangers found her a bit rude because of her hyper talking but he seemed accepting of it and that amused her slightly. "It's nice to meet you Cuan." She said with a smile and then listened as he very skillfully answered all of her question. Needless to say Lapin was even more impressed now, for not only had he not minded her questions but he somehow remembered them all so that he might answer them.
"I've never met a Pixie before, the one I saw with small wings like your was a..." She paused to recall what Delnar had told her his breed was. "Putti. But he also had Minicorn blood like you. You could grow flowers? Okay, that's way too neat!" While she knew she was getting excited again which may very well lead to another bout of long winded rambling it was hard not to be thrilled to hear such amazing things. "I've only ever met one Nymph, she was really nice and told me a lot about my breed since mother doesn't know much about the newer breeds. Our tails can be used to signal each other if we see danger and our ears help us hear really well." Lapin couldn't help but take another look at his tail, it was so different than anything she'd ever seen, and Lapin had seen quite a few things in her random wanderings when she was younger. "That must come in very handy. My sister, Poe, she's got these tentacles that come out of her neck, and she can carry things in them, but nothing too heavy."
She paused again, something rare for her at times like this. "I got all my Nymph features from my father, he was a half Nymph, half Mincorn. I think that's why Poe and I don't look much alike, except our markings, she's got the same markings like me, only hers are grey like grandpa and mom." She couldn't help but smile. "Thanks, I really like my green. And your green and pink look real nice together." Ears perked forward for a moment. "I know my mom and grandpa are proud of me, especially since I've calmed down a lot and taken up some responsibility in the herd. But I've never met my father, so I can't say whether he is proud of me or not.
His question made her smile and then she let out a laugh. "I tend to ask all my questions at once." Though now that he mentioned it and she wasn't running on full speed mode she did realize there were a few questions she would like to ask him. "Are you from around here?"

A putti? Cuan had never met one, but he had heard of them. His ear wings were being slightly animated, giving away his interest, and pleasure as she seemed interested in his (very insignificant) touch of power. It was a pleasure to listen to someone else, especially someone that seemed happy and responsive. He liked people being happy, and he absolutely adored making someone else happy. If she enjoyed their conversation? He was ecstatic.
"That is really interesting," he said in response to using their tails to signal danger, truly meaning it and wanting to let her know that he was listening without interrupting. "Your sister sounds very interesting," he remarked when she paused, trying to think about having tentacles for a mane rather than a tail. He liked his tail enough, it was useful if somewhat of an oddity, but for a mane? If she could carry things it was probably useful indeed.
"I am sorry to hear about your father," he murmured, but quickly, not wanting to dwell on the negative he moved to answering her question. "Not too close to here, but not too far either. I grew up a bit south of here, and lately I decided I should range out a bit and see what I could find. I seem to be lucky to have found a friendly face. Would you mind telling me what types of responsibility you have? I am unsure of what herd life is really like, so I don't know what all it entails." If he gave her a chance to talk more about herself, he would be a good listener, and people liked good listeners. Or at least, he hoped she did, he did not want to mess up what could very well possibly be a new friendship.

It was so nice to be talking with someone who seemed interested in what she was saying. Usually those she met tried to move along quickly or had little interest in what she said. Mention of Poe made her nod once more. "Poe is a good sister, but she's kind of shy and doesn't like leaving the herd much. I try to get here out as much as I can but she doesn't like that she is different. I keep telling her that being different is a good thing, maybe one day she will listen." Until then she would just keep trying to open her sisters eyes to the world around her.
She almost missed what he said about her father, as it was added so quickly to the conversation but her ears picked it up. "My dad has never been in my life so it's nothing I'm sad about. Though he did take one of my siblings with him when he went home, so I have a brother or another sister out there somewhere. One day I might find them, see what they are like but even if that doesn't happen I'm happy with the family that I do have." She gave her head a firm nod. Yup, she had been sort of sad as a foal to not have her father around but that quickly went away when she realized how great her herd family was and of course once she started wandering at a young age. Who needed a father when there was an entire world to explore? Not her.
"Wandering is good. I've spent a lot of time wandering. Grandpa says I get it from mother, since she used to wander all the time, but now she sticks closer to the herd and sees to her duties. Grandpa is the head of the herd and mom is his heir." His question about the herd, especially her responsibilities, made her ears perk forward. He didn't know what it was like to be in a herd? Well, she would certainly tell him all about hers as it was fairly important to hers. "Well, I'm the healer of the herd. Some of them laughed when I first told them I wanted to be a healer when I was a foal. Back then I was extremely hyper and rarely sat still for more than a few seconds, so they didn't believe I could learn about herbs and help others. But once I find a mentor, actually there were a few, to teach me I started to calm down a lot. I still have my moments but I'm getting better." She let out a light laugh remembering the barrage of questions she had asked him not long ago. "It's my duty to keep everyone healthy. I gather herbs, mix them together to help get rid of sickness but also to help heal injuries. I am trying to get Poe to help as well, as she has a horn that can possibly be used to heal with but she's not quite ready to help, I think she worries about hurting someone with it. But that's why I was out here today, I was gathering more herbs to stock up for the winter." She paused for a moment glancing in the direction Lightfoot had gone off in with today's pick of herbs. "I have other duties too, like border patrols and some lessons as well but mostly I gather herbs and heal anyone who needs it. Our herd is a bit small, mostly family, but you'd be surprised how busy I can be sometimes."
