Ak-kila admired her new compainion. Akin'labi was so different then her. He was so fascinating, he had traveled and had stories to tell. She, well, she could talk about the time she tried to get a scorpion as a pet, though she was sure that would be boring. The story was just her chasing a scorpion around, trying to get it to listen to her. There was something she could show him that wasn't boring.

She thought about it while she was sleeping. He was taking her away to go on adventures, but she wanted a chance to show him that there were adventures in the desert as well. Her life might be a bit dull, but the desert wasn't. She remember her and her friends seeing a temple far in the desert. For their first adventure, she thought it would be the perfect place.

She hoped that he would like it. There were didn't carving into the temple walls, she thought were made by ancient lions. The designs always amused her and she always questioned what they meant. She looked up at the sandy building, cracks making their way up the walls. It looked a bit... unstable since the last time she saw it, she thought, looking at it more carefully. The cracks seemed larger now. Than again she had been much younger when she saw it.

The temple was large, almost as big as the temples back at her pride. It was large enough to fit a small pride happily for a while. Ak-kila gave a glance at her partner. “What do you think? Would you like to go inside?” She asked, her light eyes watching his. She wanted him to know more about her and her world she came from. This was her best chance and she did not want to ruin it.

After traveling alone for so long, Akin'Labi was trying to get used to the idea that he now had a companion. Not that Ak-kila was hard to get along with, just the opposite in fact. He found himself enjoying her company after only knowing her for about a day. And now they were going to go searching across the lands for great adventures. Two heroes on a quest to uncover mysteries and knowledge. That was another thing about this sand huntress, since he had met her, his muse had sparked back to life. It seemed the longer he was in her presence, the more the old flame became closer to reaching its former glory. Perhaps even beyond that?

So when Kila said she wanted to show him an old temple on the outskirts of the desert, he felt more air breathing life to the flames.

When he first saw it he felt his breath taken away. He had seen many temples before, but nothing like this. Even in it's ruined state, he could picture what it would have looked like back in its prime. Its stones being diligently carved by the artisans charged with their care, its halls full of worshipers. But even in its crumbling form, it is still beautiful.

He smiled at Kila's question. "It would be an honor."

Ak-kila gave him a grin. “Mind you step.” she said, glancing at him as she climbed the short stairway into the temple. She couldn't wait to see what was in store for them. When she got back home she would tell all her friends about her adventures and Akin'Labi. They would be so jealous and a bit surprise. It wasn't usual for Ak-kila to just run away with a stranger, but she knew Labi was different and she would tell her friends that when she saw them. That way they knew he was a good companion for her.

She almost wanted to introduce him to her friends and family, but there was a part of her who wanted to keep him a secret from them. Since she was little, her dream lion was a strong warrior but Labi wasn't that. She couldn't think of a word to really describe him, he was just different. It wasn't a bad kind of different, but still different. She knew that all those who knew her would be surprised that she even befriended someone so unlike herself, but in the end she knew they would be happy for her.

Inside the temple was cool, compared to the heat from the outside. She admired all the stone work that had been done and wished she had known how to do it. As she walked she felt something slowly inch up her spine. “You aren't going to scare me that easily,” she said to Labi, assuming he was trying to scare her or something. However she realized it wasn't him, but instead a large dark brown spider with long hairy legs. All his eyes darted to her. “Ah! Get it off me!” She cried, wiggling franticly around, not watching where she was going. Spiders were one of the few things she would ever admit that she was scared of and of course she had forgotten that some of the abandoned temples were covered in them.

He smiled back at Ak-kila and followed her inside, watching his step as she warned.

If he thought the outside was beautiful, the insides were doubly so. Like unrolling a scroll, the temple's interior was writ with mosaics and the tales of those long past. He looked upon each carving in awe, trying to memorize and absorb all they had to teach. "This is wonderful Ak-kila! One can only imagine what the history behind this place was! Who built it? Who carved these markings with precise care? If only I could read these tales these walls wish to tell me."

He was mourning the loss of knowledge when he heard Kila speak. "Scare you? I wouldn't-" He turned around just in time to see Kila see the spider and cry out. "Hold on Ak-kila, I've got you. Just hold still for one moment." He reached over and rested his paw in front of the spider, letting it climb on. "Sorry little one, we did not mean to disrupt your home. We wished only to gave at its marvels." He held the same paw up to the wall and waited for the spider to climb off before looking back to Kila. "Are you alright?"

"In my pride, we had those who were knowledgeable about the markings and their stories. We even learned some in class, though it never interested me." Ak-kila said with some embarrassment. "I was never the type who could sit down and listen to a teacher. I would have rather experience then learn about it. If I had paid attention I might know more about these temples and I could have told you and then I would actually have something interesting to tell you."

She took a deep breath after her little rant. Whenever she got nervous she would always rant. It was so uncool.

When the spiders attacked and he told her to stick still, she had trouble. If she was embarrassed earlier, she was twice as much now. Her legs were shaking, her eyes shut. She felt the spider leave her and go onto Akin'Labi's paw. Her eyes peeked opened and glanced at him. "I. I think I'll be fine." She couldn't get the sense that the spider was off her. His legs walking over her back still lingered there.

"Thank you for getting rid of it. If you didn't do anything, I probably would have killed the little thing. I just don't like spiders very much. Scorpions I can handle but not spiders." She said with a nervous laugh.

He chuckled a little. "I will admit that I have no formal teaching. My father had a fascination with the world that took root inside me as well." He paused at the mention of his father. His parting with him was still very much an open wound in his heart. But he continued. "We traveled to so many wondrous places so often that I had no time for it! So do believe me when I tell you I know something about learning through experience." He gained a wistful tone as he thought about all the grand places where he learned so many things about life. But as he reminisced, his mood turned melancholy, knowing that he would most likely never see his father again. He briefly looked away to collect himself before turning back.

When Ak-kila said that she would indeed be alright, he smiled. "I'm glad." and he meant it. He had been worried that the spider might have bit her.

He did smile again when she laughed after speaking of scorpions. "Ahh! The Huntress tames mighty scorpions as well! Pray tell, my great lady of the sands, what other hidden talents do you posses!" By the end, he had a bright smile on his face. There was no teasing in his words.

Ak-kila gave him a smile. She was glad she met him. He was more interesting then the males in her pride. Unlike her he had seen the world. He could tell her different stories of the lands he traveled to. She could hardly tell him about her own land. "Your life sounds so fascinating. I've dreamed about different lands, but I never seen anything besides my desert home." Her visions gave her realistic dreams of different creatures and their homes. She could imagine herself in those lands, but never wanted to leave her family. However it became harder to stay, each day seeing different lands, seeing her future and what it could be.

"Well, I once tried to get a scorpion as a pet. It didn't work very well." She said with a nervous laugh. "As far as talents go, well I lack those. I have never been good at anything in my pride. I became a huntress just because I failed at everything else." She explained, hoping he wouldn't think any less of her. Everyone she knew had something they were good at but there was nothing she was good at.

"Though I guess I am good at talking and arguing. I used to argue all the time but for the most part I grew out of that." Ak-kila remembered when she couldn't have a conversation without getting in a conflict with who she was talking to.

"You're dreams must be a beautiful place." Labi said as he looked at more of the pictographs a little further down the hall "Admit my travels I will admit that you have something that I had envied in all who had one. You have a place in which you belong. I have no place in which to return too, nothing awaiting me at the end of a long journey. My travels are great, that is a fact that I love and relish, but they are also endless. Sometimes that fact fills my heart with sadness." He let words settle for a moment before chuckling at the tale of the scorpion.

"Well I do believe that scorpion has missed out on such great experiences. It's Master would have been marvelous." He turned serious again as he listened to her speak of talents, giving her his focused attention. His emotions turned thoughtful. "It sounds to me that your talents are hidden. even from yourself. Talents are to be discovered, and for some, that takes a little more effort." He smiled at her. "But I have seen that for those individuals, when they DO find it, they bloom and are the best of their craft."

Her ears went warm as he talked. She hung onto his ever word as he spoke. "You shouldn't envy me much. I have a family here, but I've never felt like I belonged. Here I can never find anything I am good at. In my dreams I've seen places I will never get to see, because I am stuck here." She said, sitting down. It was like her feet wouldn't move forward, as if something was holding her back.

She closed her eyes and she could hear a loud roar, but not a lions roar but the sound of water roaring, water of which she had never seen before. She saw a lion that looked similar to Akin'Labi, but with yellow markings as well. He was with a group of younger lions, which looked similar to Akin. It must be his family.

Her eyes opened up and she smiled at him. She wanted a family like that, a large family one filled with love and happiness. "Does you family live near an endless sea? Because I just had a vision and I think I saw them. I could clearly see a lion who looked like you, but with red and yellow fur instead." She hoped she didn't sound too crazy. Her visions were something even she didn't understand.

'Labi reeled back as if struck, eyes wide and startled. "T-the ocean?" The loud roaring of the tides filled his ears. It taunted him, crooning it's pride of it's theft of his father and hissed threats of what would become of him if he tried to reclaim his stolen treasure.

He held no doubt of Ak-kila's ability to have visions, he had meet others with the rare talent. But he had never had any of them have a vision about him or those around them, or at least they had never told him if they had. But with the contents of Kila's and the still festering wound of his loss, he sorely wished he never knew.

His posture screamed of uncertainty and a share of his pain was lay bare. He took a few steps towards Kila. "You... you saw my father?"

Ak-kila nodded her head. She closed her eyes, willing her gift to allow her to see more of Akin'Labi's family, but nothing but darkness greeted her. Her eyes opened. "I am afraid that I can't see them anymore. But they seemed happy. There were many cubs around him. Maybe your brothers and sisters?" She thought with a smile. None of them looked quite like Akin though. Not exactly. These ones had a lot of darker colors. Some even had markings like her, though she guessed it was just a coincidence.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is your father like? He seemed pretty joyful in my vision. I never got to know my own father, so I have to admit I am a bit jealous of you." She said with a half grin. It wasn't a fact that upset her. It was rare to only have one parent in her pride. The pride had strong opinions on flings. However since her mother had a fling with a god, they let it pass. She adored her mother, but she always wondered about her father, to the point where she would spend time imagining what he would be like.

"Why don't we continue our adventure outside? I think I had enough adventure in this temple for one day." She said with a laugh. If another spider came near her she knew she would faint for sure. Plus she felt that she could use some fresh air.

C-cubs? He... He had younger siblings now? His heart sang with an empty echo. His father was happy and safe. But now, now he knew that he had family that he will almost certainly never meet, if the call of the ocean was in their blood as it was in his fathers. The same call that lay in him. The sea that both hated and loved him. He had tried to deny this for a long time, only hearing the jeers and slurs. But beneath those whispers floated up to him. Grand tales of those brave enough to dare the waves, and the beautiful and strange creatures that lived in their depths. All echoing up to him in an eerie resemblance of his father's voice.

He shook himself out of his revelry as Ak-kila spoke.

She asked of his father.

A small smile graced his face as memories of when he was small flashed across his eyes. He looked back to her, a trickle of pain seemed to have lessened. Kila seemed to be breaking down the dam that had erected itself in his heart.
He laughed "My father! Oh there is so much to tell! And I see you grow weary of this place. Let us depart, and as we wonder I will tell you of our tales!"
