I have read the first 11 light novels, and I know that Silica, Asuna, Lisbeth, Kirito, Suguha, Agil, ect. will be in the new arc, as well as more characters that will be introduced (including my favorite character in the series, Sinon heart ). I don't know if this will be in the anime, but it also explains exactly what happens to Sugou after he attacked Kazuto. Though most characters won't play as big a role as they did in the first series, I know that they are still in it. Like even though Asuna and Suguha aren't super big parts of Gun Gale Online (neither of them even play it), they still play a big part outside of the game. And of course Kirito/Kazuto plays the biggest role, since he is still the main character. I hope this clears it up for you 3nodding
