Not every meal could be tenderly home-cooked and made with love, and Anella understood that sometimes you had to just go out and pay someone to make your food for you. Thankfully, she loved food, so it didn't matter if it was a meal someone had slaved over for hours or a fast meal put together by robots. The cafeteria, while not the best food, certainly wasn't a place she minded. Except when she had to eat alone.

Today, there were plenty of people on campus, so she figured she wouldn't have to suffer in soluitude. She knew a lot of people, and yet, none of her usual circle seemed to be in the area. Which meant it was time to make a new friend.

Anella didn't miss a beat and continued walking until she spotted a girl sitting alone at a table.

No girl, she figured, should ever have to eat alone. She approached, sweet little smile on her face.

"You don’t mind if I sit here, do you?" she prompted, though it was for formality's sake only' she had already set down her tray and was shrugging off the bag from her shoulder.

Moving was always difficult, whether it was changing where you lived or where you attended school, something about the isolation and ostracism of being some place new, surrounded by people you don't know had a profound way of making a girl feel depressed.

Natalia was not lately an outgoing girl, so for the few months of classes she had gone to she mainly kept her head down and her thoughts to herself. Today was no different, she attended her morning classes and did her homework diligently in the library before going to get lunch. Having surveyed the cafeteria she had sat down at an empty table out of the way of the flow of student traffic.

With a small sigh she picked at her side salad as she pulled out a pen and notebook and started to doodle absently in the corner as she methodically ate with the other hand.

The sound of the voice startled her and she looked up, a piece of lettuce sticking out of her mouth before she hastily sucked it in, nearly choking herself in the process. Despite the fact that Natalia hadn't responded yet the girl decided to sit down anyway, so she shrugged and attempted a small smile.

"ah, sure go ahead." She responded closing her notebook as she examined her lunch guest.

Anella could be considered a pretty girl, and she certainly carried herself in a way that indicated she either knew that or just didn't care how others perceived her. Still, she flashed a warm smile as she started digging into her meal. "Anella," she introduced, only just before she took a bite of the banana she'd nabbed. She chewed for a short bit, and then, mouth still half full of food asked, "So what are you doing here all by yourself?"

It didn't take a genius to figure that the girl hadn't been expecting company (or maybe they'd just kept her waiting for so long that she'd given up on waiting for them). Anyone eating alone immediately earned Anella's attention, and she couldn't help but make an entrance. Besides—it wasn't like she had anything else to do.

She wasn't displaying a lot of her manners and seemed to be in a hurry to eat, but at least she was making an effort to be friendly. Though, only time would tell if the stranger appreciated the forwardness or was just annoyed by it.

Natalia watched the girl in mute fascination for a moment before shrugging it off, its not like she went out of her way to be unfriendly, she just hadn't found a place she belonged yet.

"Natalia." she responded after the girl introduced herself before apparently inhaling her food.

"Well, I was eating, it is a cafeteria after all." Natalia responded with a small grin, "As for why alone, I'm relatively new here and haven't made many friends, none of them were here today." She responded, if she stretched the truth by the fact she had made no friends so far, well what this girl didn't know wouldn't hurt her.
"Do you make a habit of sitting at random people's tables?" Natalia questioned curiously, though she did not seem offended at all by it.

"Habit?" Anella blinked and then immediately grinned. "Yes, you could say that. But, I'd like to think that if I was sitting all by myself, someone would want to pop over and keep me company. If you'd been, say, deeply engrossed in studies or something, I might have let you be, but you were just doodling. Speaking of," she craned her head curiously so she could better see what Natalia had been doodling in. "Are you an artist or something, or just trying to past the time until you've gotta go to your next class?"

Solitude was not something Anella could really understand; she loved being sociable and being surrounded by people, so she couldn't figure why anyone would want to be sitting all by themselves during the most social part of the day.

"Oh I'm definitely not an artist, I have another class in an hour so I figured I'd eat and wait here till it started." Natalia responded as she turned the page to reveal curling vines around math notes.

"I just have to have my hands doing something, otherwise I go a little stir crazy." Natalia added with a small smile.

"What are you majoring in?" She asked curiously, trying to keep up the conversation.

At the topic of what Anella was studying, she just snorted rather indignantly. "Leeeet's not talk about that," she laughed, setting down her banana and cracking the soda can she'd picked up. She looked at the notes and the fanciful curling vines across the page. "Mm, math, though. Yeah, definitely a good idea to give your hands something to do. I like to play the games on the calculator in my math class, but—then again—I pretty much hate sitting still through anything. What about you, what are you majoring in? —Something not math heavy, I hope."

Natalia watched the girl, she seemed nice enough if not a bit closed about her personal life. She grabbed her notebook and flipped it closed before placing it back in her back pack.

"No, I'm an Anthropology major" Natalia said with a small smile, "Doesn't need a lot of math unless you're trying to date a skeleton." She added with a slight shrug. "Its interesting at least."

"I'm ok at math, but the teacher likes to ramble, so thats why I normally end up doodling through half of the class"

"Oooh, gotcha. Yeah, no can do with that whole math stuff. See, it's not that it's hard, it's just boring. I need hands-on stuff, where I'm moving around? Or can engage myself? Math is all the same numbers just mish-mashed together. Anthropology though, that was a fun class. You learning anything good?" she prompted; she figured if the class was going to ramble all the time, she couldn’t imagine that it was too engaging.

"Because—my anthropology teacher was pretty damn clever. And attractive," she shrugged. "That probably helped me focus a little."

Anella couldn't help but grin, obviously fantasizing about this man. "So—what are you in school for? Got a dream occupation or something?"
