Minagi sat out watching the sky cloud up, her blue-green eyes half-closed waiting for the first signs that the sky was about to let down. She stretched out across the roof, barefoot and torn skinny jeans with a white tank and her short hair was hard to mess up but her bangs covered most of her face frrom when the sun had been shining down earlier. "Mmmm" she groaned and sat up and sighed. She hadn't seen Kyou for quite some time, so things had be fairly lonely as of late living by herself. it had been important to him, but even he hadn't been able to tell her when he would be back. With plenty of promising that should would still be there when he got back he left. Time had passed steadily enough, but it still seemed so slow, even the season changing was becoming apparent as some leaves were already fading from bright green to oranges and red and fluttering into the streets.
"Guess I should go grab myself something to eat" Minagi shrugged her tanned shoulder and climbed through the open skylight and down the rafters back into the own warehouse. It was a much smaller one than most of what was around, it was abandoned, it would have easily fit a small colony of cats, but it was just her and Kyou there, their quiet little solitary life.
Kyou rolled his shoulder awkwardly, sighing slightly. He had been training for months now, high up in the mountains. His orange hair had grown longer, his skin tanned and his body thin and lean. The training had been brutal, his body worked to it's limit, his mind pushed and punished. After training he was left alone with his thoughts, to meditate, to think of how he could improve. That was what he was supposed to think about, his training, the connection between his body and his mind. However more then often his mind would turn to Minagi during these moments. He would think of how he missed her so much, how he wished he was with her and how it would feel to have her beside him again. The isolation was exhausting, especially with the promise of returning to Minagi. Every night as he attempted to sleep he would want to quit, to just leave and return to her. However he had to finish. He needed to stay on top of it all. But after months of grueling trainign he was finally returning to her, returning home. His body was stiff and sore but he practically ran all the way back, seeing familiar things as he ran. He had to sleep rough a few nights, taking a few naps here and there. He just wanted to get back to her. Finally on his 4th day of travelling he go back to the warehouse, where they used to live together. He looked around, shifting his bag from one shoulder to another before jumping up and through the skylight. He could see her and couldn't help but grin. He was home.
Minagi heard a sound behind her and looked back, her thin eye turned wide open with the mop of orange hair and the filthy mess that couldn't be any other than Kyou. Her eyes welled up with tears, he body was torn. Too shocked to move, but every muscle tensed and ready to fly over and tackle him to the ground and smother him with love.
"You're home..." she squeaked scrambling at last over to him, slipping and scratching her bare feet on the gravel of the roof, but the pain was forget. At the last second before she reached him she took pone last finaly slip, arms out-stretched instead of her arms flying to wrap around his neck she caught his thin waist and went head-fist into his abdomen full, black, fluffy force. It couldn't have been anything less than a mess of black and orange.
Before Kyou could even blink he could see her running over to him and all he could do was stare. But before his eyes had even gotten his fill he was tackled by her. He hadn't braced himself, his body weak from the travel home. Next thing they were both on the floor, Kyou flat on his back, his hands around her waist. His nose took in her scent and his miind was well again, months of pain and anxiety mellting away in a single instant. After what felt like an enternity he spoke, his voice soft but hoarse from lack of use "Your feet are all scratched up" he muttered, his lack of companionship becoming so obvious.
Minagi clung to him tightly moving up to push his long hair from his worn face and kissing him all over. "I don't care, you're home!" she cried, her tears dripping onto his face. "Look at you! Your hair, you're so thin, and a mess! We need to get some food in you." she fussed. She didn't know where to start, feeding him, cleaning him up, just plain pampering him to death. She'd been without him so long she couldn't think straight now that he was back. "Oh Kyou, I don't even know where to start, my mind is all a mess." she sighed
Kyou chuckled softly. "You know how good I am at taking care of myself." he said, a sarcastic tone in his worn voice. He ran his hand through her hair and sighed. "I think my hair is longer then yours now. Sorry I'm such a sorry sight. I didn't have time to think ttrying to get back her. I probably should have taken a bath or something." he said, his mouth forming a half smile. He wasn't really sure how to act or what to do. He had been away from her so long and came to see her is such a mess. He had no idea how she could ever consider hugging him. He whiped a tear away from her face and kissed her softly on the cheek. "I missed you Minagi" his gravely voice whispered, smiling softly
Minagi choked out a bit of laughter through her tears and wiped at her face, sitting up to relieve Kyou of her weight. She wasn't exactly a petite girl, she was pretty well rounded. "No, no, no! Don't think that way!" she said looking him over again, his hair was longer than hers, how funny but in a way she kind of liked it. "The hair, albeit with a good washing; it looks good." she reached forwardsrunning her fingers through it, dirty or not. "I missed you too, Kyou. It's been so hard being away from you. Even when I went out and was around others I felt so alone." she said glancing away for a moment, but them coming right back to his fierce eyes. "We're going to make tonight special, just you and me, you can tell me about everything and I'll tell you about how little happened here!" she bounced a little, a spark of excitement lighting up in her. Her best friend was home at last, it felt like she was truly alive again. Even as a child Kyou had been one of her closest friends, in some ways he was about all she had.
A rumbled of thunder shook the air making her startle and fall back onto Kyou, grasping onto his neck in fear, her thick tail fuffy out large enough to have given the appearence of a black cloud that could almost hide the two of them.
Kyou smiled, his hand holding her soft face. "I do think a good wash is in need, possibly with some hot water. I haven't had a hot bath since I left. There's only so many freezing cold showers you can take before you would prefare just to be dirty." he said softly. His eyes studied her face and her body. She hadn't changed much, still the beautiful girl that he always knew. He studied her face, seeing a rare glimpse of vunrability. He nuzzled her softy before nodding. "That sounds like a plan. How about I take a bath, we cuddle up under a blanket and just talk. Saying that I don't have a whole lot to talk about either. I mean training is training. Hard and cruel." he said before grinning. "Being able to come back to you made it all worth it though." His ears pricked up hearing the thunder and pulled the girl closer, holding her head into his chest and strocking her hair. "It's okay. Ssssh sssh I'm here."
There wasn't much that could scare Minagi, but a good thunder storm was one of those few things. "You know what, that sounds like a good idea." she said picking at his filthy shirt, now that it was mentioned he did smell quite terrible, but it didn't matter to her, he could have come back dripping in mud, shaved bald to the tip of his tail and she still would have loved him no less. "You take a shower and I'll get dinner ready. You need a good meal in you, I swear I can feel your ribs under here!" her eyes warily glanced up at the dark sky. It was lucky she had stocked up on food just a few days prior, she never held onto much as of late. Just enough to last her a few days in case bad weather hit and she wasn't able to roam out and get more. Though pickings would be a little slimmer with Kyou home, there was plenty...though she would likely leave him a bit more and just pick up plenty of extra tomorrow. He needed it more than her a** did. "Let's get inside." she said, tail still bottle brushed.
Kyou couldn't help but laugh slightly, stroking her hair softly. "I think I'll probably be a bit more plesent company once I no long stink of forest." he said with a smirk. He pulled himself up, pulling her with him and ruffled her hair. "No need to the scared little kitten, you're not alone anymore." He said it in a kind of joking way but he was comforting himself as much as her. Being in the mountain for so long away from her had been very hard on the young cat and he had been very lonely for a long time. His stomach growled like it was trying to embaress him and he laughed nervously. "A home cooked meal would be amazing. I don't know how long it's been since I've last had something that wasn't raw fish. Infact at this point I can't really remember when I ate last." He streched and hugged her, tugging her tail teasingly. "You know we don't even have a chimney here." he said coyly before removing his shirt and heading into the shower.
Minagi laughed, "Probably a good idea. I'm sure you'll feel yourself again once you're clean!" she knew he was joking with her. She was tough and though she didn't quite punish herself the way he did she had always held her own picking fights in her kittenhood, she'd been ragtag and though she didn't look it, she still was. His stomach was the final call that they should get a move on and quit stalling for time. She gave his tail a tug as he left for the shower and smiled to herself, this was a home again and not just a shelter. No chimney, but she had in his absence acquired a lighter which she had quite interestly rigged so that once set would stay alight with a small enough flame to cook over with the right tools. Digging into her hide away where she kept the food safe she pulled out meat and herbs that she had been saving at something of a treat to cheer her up. But now it would be more like a celebratory meal! She heard the water running on the other side and grinned as she swung over another rig with a bent spoon over the flame and it didn't take long for the meat to start sizzling and fill the area with it's hearty aroma.
