Something was vibrating next to her head, rousing Lena from a deep sleep to find that her head was wedged beneath her pillow, face all but pressed to the headboard while Kess' arm pressed her down into the mattress. Groggily groping around she pulled out a phone that by the color she could tell was not her own, pushing it beneath Kess' stomach so that the next time someone called it would rouse the blonde from her sleep instead.

Unfortunately she probably should have done the rude thing and invaded Kess' privacy when the cell had first gone off because what happened next was an unpleasant awakening. With a grunt and a roll into a position less 'puppy on a pile' and more 'lazy human' her not-girlfriend stretched and mentioned that her cousin was coming over. This wasn't really alarming though it registered that Lena hadn't been aware Kess had family in Destiny City. Or at all really. But then what the hell did she know about anything anymore?

Coming over in fifteen minutes.

That registered so that a tousled black head shot up with utter amazement. "Fifteen minutes? Kess are you outta your damned..." It was amazing to watch her move, almost like a seasoned firefighter when the alarm went off, a jumble of limbs that shot out of bed and towards the stairs. "That's not even time for a shower! I have to...damn it Kess!" What a way to wake up!

It was good for her cousin to wake up before noon.

Or, that was what Liberty Marie had told herself to warrant contacting Kess in the morning hours. Her dormitory roommate had been on her way to a Saturday morning seminar and had politely given her a ride.

Equally as unknowledgeable about a second individual, Liberty was dressed in casual wear. She'd be walking to work after the visit, so she'd adorned tennis shoes, board-length shorts, and an uncharacteristic t-shirt. A small backpack slung over one shoulder contained her work clothes, cell phone, and a few other odds and ends.

She gave the door of Kesslan's home one, solid set of knocks. If her older cousin was still lounging in bed, Liberty was quite certain that she would hear it. The short time Liberty waited was spent contemplating the best way to get Kess into a headlock. Where the redhead had brute strength, Kesslan usually bested her in talent. And by usually, she meant always.

The door opened, and Liberty made quick use of her time. "Hey, cuz! Think fast." Her greeting was bright, cheerful, and the energetic step through the door she made started as a hug, but quickly turned to the introduction to a wrestling match. Apparently, she had not yet noticed there was an additional guest.

Lena was already upstairs with the water running by the time Kess had even sat up, pushing her hair out of her face with a hand as she sent a blurry look around the room. Clothing. Bare feet found the cold floor and eventually a pair of loose jeans, zipping and buttoning them. A fitted hoodie was snagged off the back of a chair and yanked over her head, as she slowly trudged up the stairs, not bothering to respond to the occasional shout from the upper bedroom that was technically Lena's.

Kess didn't need to think, which was great since all she needed to do was react. A grunt was her hello to her cousin as she stumbled back into the house, backpedaling rather than taking the brunt of her weight. The freckled pair hit a wall in the living room before Kess pushed off it and sent them both over the back of the couch in a sprawling mess.

Within seconds, she was pushing the redhead's face toward a questionable plate of leftovers on the floor with a wide, lazy grin. "Hungry, Libs? I think you are."

Fifteen ******** minutes! Didn't Kess understand that there was no way she could make herself look remotely respectable in fifteen minutes? It was really amusing to watch Lena respond like a seasoned firefighter when the alarm went off, shooting her out of the bed and up two flights of stairs with a great amount of thunder from her bare feet. Once in her bedroom the shirt she'd worn to sleep in went flying with expert aim to land on the rest of her dirty clothing pile, her naked body hurling into the shower with just as much energy to shower as quickly as she could.

It sounded much like this: Thud. ThudthudthudSLAM. Apparently Lena Adler was practicing her audition for Stomp!

Then it was just a matter of hurling her entire closet out onto the bed to perhaps find something that could be considered respectable for a..uh...roommate? Roommate was a good neutral word. Friends who lived together! Sharing space. Lots of personal space. "Kess!" Hadn't she seen her gold blouse down in the Kesscave two weeks ago? "Kess!" Louder this time as she moved on looking for her deep ocean-colored tights that went really well under the white shorts. They were on the floor near the couch right? Eventually it was clear that Kesslan Reever wasn't going to answer the summons of her not-girlfriend and so Lena was forced to make-do with what she had spread out in front of her.

Subsequently, when the front door was opened and wrestling ensued, she was busy with a hairdryer all but stuck to her head fluffing out what was incredibly damp hair from her speedy shower. Before she hurtled downstairs, obviously running late, at least Lena remembered she was supposed to be wearing glasses. "God damn it. KESS! Have you seen my glasses?" Certainly she hadn't!

Rummaging, rustling, had her finding them, shoving them on her face, and hitting the bottom of the stairs just as Liberty was being offered lunch in a rather unorthodox way. It was totally unnoticed for a minute as Lena was still running on pure insanity, chattering away. "Seriously, Kess, I know you're not deaf because you hear me just fine when I'm...oh!" s**t. "Uhm. Hi!"

"Starving, cuz," Liberty had the audacity to answer. "That looks amazing, but --"

'But do you have eggs' was cut off by a more encroaching thought. But there was someone else in the room. Liberty could just make out fluffed out hair and maybe a smile. It was hard to tell.

A better question was, how did she know Kesslan wasn't deaf. Heard her just fine when she was doing what?

Shaking the thought off, Liberty raised a hand in greeting and waggled her fingers. She took the time to wiggle her way out from underneath Kesslan's strong hold - an impossible feat had Kesslan not actually been letting her. She cast Kesslan a quick look, before straightening and dusting herself off.

"Sorry about that." She extended one of her hands in greeting. "I'm Liberty, by the way." She could trust Kesslan to introduce her, but if it hadn't happened before, Liberty figured it wasn't going to happen now. Perhaps Kess had thought this young woman would be gone before Liberty had opened the door. A few quick, polite exchanges, and the temporary guest would probably be on her way.

Oh God she was so overdressed. Belatedly the brunette was incredibly glad she hadn't bothered with putting on shoes, having trampled downstairs in her bare feet. That said nothing however for the white jeans harking back to the 80s and their country floral pattern, the loose pink blouse, the carefully-fluffed hair. Maybe she could shove Kess' face into the cushions of the couch where she was lounging indolently, giving Lena a once-over with incredibly aware eyes and what Lena thought was a good deal of amusement. Taking it in stride she sighed inwardly, holding out her hand with an outward smile.

"No need to apologize. You looked like you weren't doing so bad but I guess it's a good thing I broke it all up. I'm Lena." Curiosity had her looking between the two women, trying to pick out familial similarities and finding at least a few as they shook hands in that incredibly backwards way when you weren't sure whether a firm handshake or a light one was appropriate. In her mind, though why she thought this way was a bit of a mystery, light handshakes were weird. Firm was the way to go because it meant that you were actually glad to meet the person, not apprehensive or awkward.

Plus no doubt Kess' cousin could tell embarrassing family stories. Why wouldn't you be glad to meet someone like that?

"Sorry I was late coming down by the way. I was just told you were coming over fifteen minutes ago and I was still basically asleep." With Kess. Should she mention that? Should she just leave it be? They weren't girlfriends really they were just girls. And friends. Roommates.

"Libby's my baby cousin," Kess supplied with a lazy grin that wasn't exactly helpful, the amusement in her eyes for Lena, alone. She sure had gotten ready fast. Was she trying to impress Kess' family? The blonde made a note to rib her about in later...

In the meantime, she kicked bare feet up and onto the coffee table, folding her arms behind her head and lifting her chin toward the brunette. "Lena lives here." Not some overnight date on her way out. A roommate. Or something.

Liberty, of course, had things to do during the day, and therefore, must be on a schedule. "What're you up to, Libs?"

If Lena judged friendliness by firmness of handshake, she would find Liberty a beaming pot of flowers. There was no hesitation in the strawberry blonde's grip, and she added a charming white smile simply to drive the point home.

It didn't stop her from moving her eyes to Kesslan as their hands were released. Still basically asleep.

"Cousin, it's past ten." Which for Kesslan may have seemed like an early morning, and for Liberty was certainly a waste of half the day. The friendly-scold was quickly abandoned.

"Lives?" Kess. Both of Liberty's eyebrows raised slightly. Had Kesslan gotten serious with someone? The redhead tried to get rid of the quirking smile at the edge of her lips and nearly offered to shake Lena's hand again. She'd certainly be questioning Kess about this later.

Maybe she was just a roommate. That didn't really explain the constant glances, however.

Liberty was grinning again.

"Was thinking about heading over the park. We could knock the ball around a bit before your day starts. What do think?" More than willing to add others, Liberty said, "You should come, too, Lena. It's a lot of fun."
