What does the word "Otaku" mean to you?
At first I used the word Otaku as the Japanese translation which was basically an anti-social anime and game obsessed fan that lives off society.
However! I feel like Americans in particular (and probably other non-Japanese countries) have taken the word back. Otaku to me now means:
Incorporating Japanese pop culture into your daily lifestyle.
So in that case I admit it! I am an otaku! What does it mean to you?

Personally I find it rather funny that something that's meant as an insult has now become a prideful way of describing who you are, in a sense. Nowadays it seems you have to be hardcore into anime and the world of Japan's popular culture to "earn" the title of Otaku.
To me it just describes someone who has an obsession, like "foodie" and "fashionista". Not necessarily in the negative sense but more matter-of-fact.
