Slate eyes looked out the window yet didn't see, a leg crossed over the other as he leaned back in his seat. A hot cup of espresso in hand, pomegranate syrup only this time, warmed his hands as he sipped slowly. On the table top in front of him sat a single book, book mark in place, it was for class. His english class had them reading, long term, Great Expectations. It wasn't all that bad, if not a bit wordy. He'd come here to read, and take some time to relax, while enjoying some warm espresso.

Blowing gently on his drink he sipped it slowly while seemingly in a daze, his mind playing out what he'd read in his minds eye, today was a drippy, rainy, day that was just tiring and maybe he should go home and curl up and sleep? He didn't have work today, they'd given him the day off while they worked on something. They were planning something, he wasn't sure what, for the fall holidays. He was figuring they might be working on bringing out more mums, maybe some pumpkins and gourds, and he knew they had a back area, behind all the green houses, where the pumpkins were growing. So maybe some hay thing going on? He hadn't been back there so was clueless, it seemed like some surprise that the children in the family giggled and laughed about and no one in the family would let him see.

Shifting his position in his chair, eyes flickering to his book, he took it up again and flipped it open and got to reading again while sipping his drink.

The one bad thing about going into a crowded coffee shop at this time of the day and year, was the fact that it was always a crowded mess. Nicolae held his cup of hot chocolate in his hand and his violet eyes raked over the tables, giving a disheartened scowl as he found that all of them were full. Well, this wouldn’t do.

Since there were no empty seats, the male began scanning for tables that held only one person. If he couldn’t be by himself, then some poor stranger wouldn’t be by his or herself either. He gave one last sweep of the shop, then finally decided on going to the table where a rather pretty boy sat reading something. Well, It was good to have conversations with strangers every so often anyway. Healthy, even.

The blonde walked over and took the seat across from Alexander, sipping his hot chocolate and nodding his head. “So I’m sitting here now. Hope you don’t mind too much.” So he didn’t much care what was thought about this intrusion, but…at least he was acknowledging it. That had to count for something.

Maybe it was healthy for some people, not for him. And it wasn't always healthy for those who spoke to him either, ask some senshi, knight, or poor person he'd drained of energy. Turning the page of his book as he sipped from his hot beverage, in tall glass mug with a tiny handle, he glanced up seeing someone just plop right into the chair across from him. Well, some people certainly acted like they owned the place, this was his table. But rather than say something, and risk causing a scene, Alexandre eyed the other as they spoke and even raised a brow.

"Stating the obvious I see, do you make a habit of it by chance?" Yes, he wasn't in a good mood. This was his table after all, it just didn't have his name anywhere visible, the fact was that he'd been seated here and the other had not.

"That statement aside I do hope you don't find it terribly rude if I don't talk much." Not that he really did care, his voice saying just as much, as he focused on the books crisp pages. The book was obviously new, or at least a recent purchase, and had likely not been read previous to this. Which was the case, Alexandre had gone out and bought it only a week ago and was slowly getting some distance covered in the book, rather than read the school copies which were in atrocious condition.

"Or are you looking to sit here and chat as well?" Something he hoped he wasn't looking to do, he'd feel obligated to talk in return as to not do so with so many people around would seem rude and he knew many people here.

Oh. He had picked a pretty boy who didn’t seem to want company. Well, perhaps he would oblige this once. He paused however, smirking coolly at the male’s words. Well. Perhaps he wouldn’t be so kind after all. “If it makes you so uncomfortable to chat, then perhaps I should just do that.”

Now, that wasn’t the way to make friends, so with a sigh, Nicolae took another long sip of his hot chocolate, then held out a hand. “My name’s Nicolae. And I’ll be quiet if you really want. Just let me drink my hot chocolate and I’ll be out of your hair.” He grinned. “Which is nearly as long and luscious as mine is, I see.”

Violet eyes glanced to Alex’s book and he paused. “Great Expectations, eh? I hated that book. The movie was terrible too…I swear, I must have slept through most, if not all of it back in high school.” Was this guy reading it for fun? Maybe…but the book looked so new…people didn’t just go out and buy an ancient book like that anymore. Well, normal people didn’t, anyway.

Gently marking the page in his book he closed it, all this was done one handed, and the book was set on the table. The cup he had was sipped from once before he shook the offered hand. "Alexandre." He stated while glancing over the longer haired blond, it was...ridiculous. Why have so much hair? There was no way that didn't get in the way of everything. "I'd say my hair is nicer, easier to manage as well; I'm sure." Not quite as much attitude but it was still there, that bite and arrogance.

Glancing at his book he cast his eyes back on the blond male. "It's for school but I intend to keep it." As a book he might reread. He had odd taste perhaps in some books, maybe not so odd though. "I'm not finding it terrible thus far, I'm rather liking it." Shrugging he set his cup down and leaned back into his seat.

"It would seem that my wish for quite." And not deal with anyone. "has been thoroughly quashed."

Nicolae laughed, drawing his hand back and running it through his hair instead. “Yeah, it does seem like it would be a handful to manage, but it’s really nothing that a good hair tie doesn’t fix.” He grinned then took another sip of his drink. “I could never get into the book myself…but hey. If you like it, power to you.”

The male shook his head, grinning again when the other made an obvious jibe at him being there again, and looked out the window. “Sorry, sorry. I’ll shut up. Promise. Like I said. Let me finish my drink and I’ll be gone. You don’t need to keep badgering me.” It wasn’t often that people made him so edgy, but when the odd one came along that did so, he always just wanted to get back at them and make them uncomfortable, or angry, or perhaps a mixture of both.

“If you don’t mind me continuing the conversation while I’m still drinking—the weather’s gotten so nice. I do love when Fall comes along and it cools off. I really do. I’ve been finding it difficult not to go and rake up a pile of leaves, or at least try to…then jump into them.” He grinned at Alex seeming pleased with the idea. “Do you ever go leaf jumping? I mean, I know we’re both a little old for it, but still.”

A hair tie, just one? Seemed like a job for two or more really. Maybe a braid, though when a guy needed to braid his hair he should just cut it. Alexandre had promised himself, sworn really, that he would not let it grow longer. He kept up with getting it trimmed by Caleb, who seemed to enjoy those visits of his to the salon.

"Mmm, I rather the classics over the majority of the tripe published now." The same, or a similar, opinion of art was applied to books. He was opinionated and picky, he knew what he liked. "No, do continue to talk. As I said I'm resigned to the quite being quashed." There was no sarcasm lacing his words, though there was a hand bobbing up and down as he spoke.

"I suppose I could use the break from reading anyway." And he likely could, though he did need to get further into the book. He really couldn't wait till he graduated, he needed to free up some time. With work, school, all those finals and midterms, and negaverse work he had a lot on his plate. It was a wonder he had time to himself, but he managed to force it into his schedule here and there.

"I agree, the fall is quite nice. I prefer the autumn and the winter to the spring and summer. As much as the warmer, brighter, months are needed I do dislike them so. I'm pleased with how the fall has started, though I do wish more leaves would color and fall." Shaking his head at the others words he couldn't' help but picture Johnathan jumping into a leaf pile.

"I don't think enough leaves have fallen yet, it's not far enough in. And no, I am too old for it." He had when he was a child jumped into leaf piles, there was picture proof of it even, but he hadn't done that in a very long time.

"As for age...how old do I appear?" Finishing his drink he motioned for a waitress to come over so he could order another, espresso with pomegranate syrup and whip cream on top, milk mixed in. An odd drink to be sure but it was honestly very good. As she left with his order, and his empty cup, he tilted his head at the other. "For that matter how old are you?"

So this guy had a bad taste in books. Nicolae wasn’t going to be picky, he had a good taste in how the weather should be, at any rate. That was enough to overlook the liking of ‘Great Expectations’. But, it was time to let that conversation have its end. They seemed to be getting along a bit now, and Nicolae was never one to beat a dead horse.

“You’re right about that…They should be falling soon though. Then we can rake some up and jump in them until our hearts are content.” He frowned just slightly then shook his head. “I take back what I said. You can never be too old to jump in a pile of leaves. I mean, that’s autumn right there. The smell of the cold really starting to linger in the air, the crunch of the dried leaves to really remind yourself of what time of year it is…then when you jump in the pile…”

He was grinning now, clearly this was something he looked forward to doing once again. “When you jump in , you lay there and look up through the now bare trees and see the sky, and it’s such a weak shade of blue, and then you know, you just know that winter’s really coming, and so you get up, and grab yourself a cup of hot chocolate.”

The male paused, looking Alexandre over. “I don’t know. You look about nineteen to me or so. I’m twenty one, I’ll be twenty two next week though. Guess that’s exciting.”

"You can be too old. But yes, the smell in the air, the dampness, the smell of fire places and the crunch of the leaves. You also have the mums and pumpkins and the smell of hay in the air which adds to it." So did the smells of apples and cinnamon. They all seemed to go together and just go to what represented autumn to him, all the best of it. "I'll leave the jumping into leaf piles to you. I'll enjoy the season in every other way." He answered with something of a smile in place, like they may somehow spend the fall together in some way - that this wouldn't be the only run in they had. And maybe it wouldn't be, maybe not....

"I'll go with espresso...and watch you jump into the leaves. I'll watch the sky, you jumping into the leaves, and watch as more fall." Whatever leaves held on in some weak and feeble attempt at clinging to a life which had already drained from them. "But yes, all these things tell you fall is here and winter is around the corner." And now he really wanted to go home and light a bunch of scented candles, fill the house up with the smells of autumn, and curl up with a blanket and watch some movie, what movie he didn't know. Maybe some soup as well, something hearty and oh so warm.

"Your off by a bit. I'm seventeen, I'm due to turn eighteen in February." He didn't say just when, it wasn't needed, he didn't like giving the exact date. "It should be, some people say each birthday is exciting." And he obviously didn't believe it.

Nicolae grinned, and part of him now just wanted to bring this kid out and force him to jump into a pile of leaves, just for kicks. “Well, fine. But you have to come with me then. It’ll be fun.” Even if all he did was stand there and drink espresso like some yuppie. Well, yuppie or not it would be fun to have someone there as he jumped in the leaves.

‘You’re only seventeen?” He raised a brow, seeming slightly impressed. “Well. I really never would have guessed that. You act so much older. Did you have something that killed your childhood or have you always been this grumpy?”

He didn’t seem like he was trying to be a jerk about it, but…maybe it was just the times. People always wanted to act older or something. “Maybe you should do something awesome for your eighteenth birthday. After all. This is your first birthday as a real adult, right? Right?” He grinned, finishing his drink with a flourish.

"Uh-huh, of course." Really, he had to go to watch someone jump into a pile of leaves, and they even agreed to this, like some child. For a moment he really did wonder about his age being as he said it was. But, the other also seemed unable to judge his age properly - wasn't the first person either.

"Mmmm..." Tilting his head as he pondered his answer, and the question, a smile drew across his features and it had nothing to do with the arrival of his drink. "Perhaps...though not like you would think. But I'm hardly grumpy, just a rather busy individual who would rather not act juvenile." Not to mention he couldn't really, not with his busy schedule.

"Indeed it is." Though how to spend it...he didn't know. He didn't even know if he'd be alive for it, though he didn't want to really think on that, he wasn't even likely to have time to do anything special that night. Knowing his luck, and how things in this city went, he'd wind up involved in some battle that night and coming out of it beaten up. But maybe the odds, which seemed to always be against the people of this city, would be in his favor that evening. "What would you suggest?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 12, 2012 10:51 pm

Well…the kid had smiled at the very least. One point for him. Plus, the conversation seemed to be getting better as the minutes passed…so that was good. The blond gave a sweep of the room, and was surprised to find that a few of the tables were empty now. Well, he could get up and leave, plus his drink was gone, so there was that excuse.

Well, maybe he was just enjoying talking to the other male. And on the subject of a birthday party…

“Nothing beats strippers. You know some hot girls or hot guys coming out of a cake and walking up to you. It’s the only way to spend an eighteenth birthday. Not going to lie…works pretty good with a twenty first birthday too now that I think about it…”

He grinned. “And the birthdays in between that. Strippers just make parties better. So, how about I get a few strippers and throw you a party?”

And likely those tables would soon fill up, the place was known to fill up quickly. It was just one of those places that while not really known it had it's devoted group of followers who turned up all the time, packing the place, as a line of them could be formed out the door even in the cold of winter. It really was a comfortable place, even if it did seem dirty.

"I'll pass, I'm not that...sort." How else could he word it really? He really couldn't think of anyway to say that strippers really weren't something he had a wish for, or wanted any part of. They were...distasteful and more. Words on the matter just escaped him, the sheer thought of strippers and a cake for his birthday had him utterly lost for words as the mental image was just something he couldn't visualize in any nice light.

"I take it that's what you did though?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2012 2:16 pm

“Nope.” Nicolae grinned. “That’s not what I did at all. I’ve always wanted to try it though. It seems like it’s a lot of fun in the movies and whatnot.” He shrugged. “I guess I was hoping you would show some interest so I could crash your party or something. I’m sure I could get a bunch of strippers together by February….If you were interested. I mean. You only live once, Yolo, right?”

It was quite clear that this kid didn’t want any strippers, but it was always worth a try. Plus, watching him look kind of uncomfortable was rather amusing. Even if he was being slightly mean.

“I’m just messing with you. But, really. You should be excited about your birthday. If you uh. Ever talk to me again after this strange meeting here, I’ll plan something fun for you. Maybe. If I can figure out your personality by February. “ He grinned, then glanced around, hoping to find a waitress to fill up his hot chocolate cup. He wanted this conversation to keep going, regardless of his conditions that he had made prior. This kid was amusing, even if he was just there for Nicolae to pick on him. Sometimes it was good to pick on someone.

Besides. It was all in good fun.

"You've wanted to try it because of movies. What's kept you from it? Some girlfriend, lack of funds, or something else?" He asked while shaking his head. "Indeed, we do only live once." And there was that phrase, one single word, that he heard about his school. It wasn't one he used himself, he did try to refrain from such common words and terms. It was impossible to completely avoid though, unfortunate really.

"Oh, I think we'll meet again." After already bringing one person into the Negaverse he wanted to keep an eye out for other people. And was intent upon being social, something he normally wasn't fond of being, with strangers. He was hoping to bring members in who could help the cause and this person might help, might not, he'd figure it out over time though.

"I'm sure I won't be hard to figure out, I'm a rather open book." His civilian life was at any rate. For those few who knew both his sides he was even more of an open book. It was just the number of such people was limited. How to find out about the other though, his opinions on this war, without seeming too odd and potentially turning the other away? Tact was never his thing, and why should it have ever been? Alexandre might be polite when speaking but it didn't cover up his insults, at least to those who understood what he was saying.

Well, here goes nothing. "What do you think, do you think with the colder weather setting in we'll continue to have terrorist attacks in the city? Or are you one of those people who don't think it's terrorists?" He asked, hoping this was good enough.
