Note: I have been given permission for this quest by Satin and Kaname.Come take my journey into night Come be my shadow, walk at my side. and when you have seen all that I have seen, Can you tell me love from pride?
I have been waiting all this time for one to wake me. one to call mine so when you're near all that you hold dear do you fear what you will find?
As the Dawn Breaks through the night I move on forever longing for the home I found in your eyes.
I will be listening for the drum to call me over far away from my tender youth and the very truth showing me what I've become
As the dawn breaks through the night I move on forwever longing for the home I found in your eyes.
Your voice saw me through the night.

Maya's head throbbed when she woke to the faint sound of noise traveling up the trunk from below her. She knew time was drawing near to make the annual return to their mother, their deity, their everything. She had felt the time drawing closer not by the change of the seasons or by the number of times the fungus around the forest grew brighter signalling the pass of the sun and the birth of the moon. It was more instinctual and primitive that seemed to drive her at least, raising her hand to her head and licking her dry lips Maya grunted as she pulled herself out of the bed.
Pacju who had been soundlessly watching Maya with curiosity mixed with concern whined but didn't rise. She knew how independent Maya was, and supporting her in the tree was seen as a weakness so she had learned to patiently wait for the right moment. To wait until Maya would give the command to follow. Which never took her to long to do and the Radaku always rose with quickened speed after her companion.
Stumbling towards the door with a quick glance towards the carefully nested egg Maya gathered up her satchel before making her way down the inside of the trunk she and her family called home. Licking her dry lips again as she emerged into what had commonly become the meeting place, she was more surprised to find Elder Kishku standing among her three sisters with instructions.
Maya wasn't surprised to find the eldest paid her little attention but smiled at the others, at least everyone seemed to be themselves. Perhaps she was the only one feeling the urge. This had been their first full year away from home, and Maya had never experienced the great calling before since she had always rested safely in her mothers boughs. Clearing her throat to gain attention Kishku turned abruptly to Maya a large grin on her elderly face.
"There you are! We were starting to worry if you would wake." Pressing a sack into Dyakida's hands the Elder Alkidike blinked quickly, eager to be heading outside the tree.
"Speak for yourself, we would have just left you behind anyway."
Maya placed on a stoic face as she brushed off Niebet's words. Her headache was painful enough not to respond to her sometimes caustic sister. If the other sisters had spoken up then Maya didn't seem to pay much attention shuffling over to a barrel to pick out a ripe fruit and promptly devoured before searching out a skin of water. Once that had been recovered and downed Maya seemed to brighten almost instantly.
"Are we heading home?"
"Depends on you're term home. You are standing in your home." The snark comment was once again received with stoic emotion from Maya. This just wasn't the morning for it!
Thankfully before Maya was able to grit her teeth Kishku replied with even more energy than the aged woman produced on a regular basis. She was more exited to return home than any of them. After a few moments of checking Dyakida Maya beamed outwardly. Feeling guilty for her sister's blind condition caused by Maya's determination their previous home between now and Aisha had cost her so much. She hoped whatever lay ahead that she at least was strong enough to face the rest of her sisters.
Maya wasn't the first out of the tree, with Kishku's seemingly frail body darting about as if she were no more than a child emerging from the lotus for the first time. The strong blade couldn't resist catching onto the strong energy the elder produced, Maya joined in the fast climb up into the tree's. The group seemed to travel faster in the tree's than they did on the ground, it wouldn't be hard for them to find food on their journey towards Aisha and Maya felt confident good things would come about.
Several days seemed to pass within moments in Maya's eyes, despite strange events and the passing of other slightly more hostile Alkidikes. Who Maya had deemed where only in such a mood because they too felt the pull from Aisha too and weren't as happy to return. Though Maya herself couldn't understand why. Chibar Island was in view and so were the spacious and glimmering leaves that would soon be filled with lotus flowers. Most of the flowers were the same color, the very same she had emerged from herself. Once in a while, there was an odd colored lotus that would emerge and the rest of the tribe would shun it.
Maya felt pity for those flowers, born into a world shunned. She had shunned as an early child herself, imitating the actions of the older Alkidikes. She was starting to regret her early childhood actions, especially considering the recent tribes she had met and friends she had made within those tribes. She was grateful for having met them. Smaller than she was yes but she was grateful, they proved excellent healers, trackers, fighters. Obviously not as powerful in physical strength than Alkidikes but that didn't mean they couldn't measure up. She had even saved an earthling baby for the tree's sake.
Had the same thing happened here, Maya was sure she would fall under the pressure from her sisters and allow the pure earthling child to fall to whatever fate the creature's had intended for it. Feeling guilty for not doing anything the rest of her turns breathing. Maya shook her head absently, feeling her dark dreads and the tips of her antenna tap the sides of her face. She had to stop thinking about the earthling child.
The arrival to Chibar had somehow separated her from her sisters and Maya could feel the hour drawing closer. The ritual would begin soon, all she could do now was hope Kishku and or Briella were watching over Dyakida. She knew without a doubt Niebet would have turned on her the moment they returned and were within range of the Island itself.
Taking quick almost leaping strides towards Aisha's great trunk Maya placed her hand on her trunk. Closing her eyes as she felt the welcome form in her mind. Maya was tearful, not because she was in pain or saddened by past events. It was because she was pleased beyond measure to be home again, she wanted so much to tell Aisha everything that had happened. To confide in her all the secrets she held close as she had done so much when she was a child.
As the ritualistic ceremony came and went Maya felt as if her energy had not yet been completely drained by the time the sun had fallen. She had a driving need to make sure her close sisters were ok. A strange instinct that would quickly be frowned upon by her other sisters, but they were also her best friends. She couldn't leave them to fend for herself.
Wandering around Aisha endlessly in search of something, anything that would lead her back to Dyakida and Briella Maya sighed helplessly. No one seemed to remember seeing them. perhaps it was because Maya had not been specific enough about them? A soft calling voice seemed to reach out to the Alkidike Blade as she passed near the trunk for the umpteenth time that night. The voice was impossible to forget and even harder to ignore, placing her hand lovingly on Aisha to signal she was listening she could not have been prepared for what followed.
The lotus flowers had begun to bloom in the great tree's branches and among the leaves. Following the instructions Maya found herself standing in front of a very unique lotus. It didn't contain the usual soft pink hue the rest of them did. It was so different, so vastly different, as if, it were the flower of a half breed. Maya turned immediately back to her mother, confusion, and desperation filled her heart. She had not approached her for the lotus, she had not brought a mate to plead with her, Aisha must have been confused.
The gentle guidance was meant to reassure the flighty Alkidike as Maya tried to explain over and over that a mistake had been made. She wasn't the lotus' mother. She could feel the mirthful laughter from Aisha fill her, as if telling her the exact actions she were taking were that of pleading. When those emotions filled her Maya found her pleading futile. Turning towards the flower she carefully stroked the delicate surface.
This was now her lotus, and as such her child. She wanted to ask more of Aisha, to know why she had been chosen to care for the lotus when there had to be a mother and father here on Chibal island waiting for it to bloom. All she felt inside was a pressure not to ask any more questions, that information was no longer relevant the lotus was her's.

What the lotus contains. Inside the multi hued flower contains a girl. She has sandy blond hair with streaks of blue and white throughout. Soft Green eyes during the day and the cold bright yellow of an ice earthling at night. pointed ears though not as long as the Alkidikes they are still pointed and somewhat longer. Her skin is the fair color of the wind tribe while what would be green on an Alkidike holds the blue tone of the ice tribe. As is common with the earthling tribes she has stones forming around her wrists her ankles and in a circle on her right shoulder. A few litter about her chest and stomach. Mixed within the stone formations are her Alkidike tribal marks as well taking on the same hue as if she were a true alkidike. She has the same pair of antenna the other Alkidikes have. She is shorter than all the other Alkidikes and even considered short for earthling size.
(clothing would be up to the artist)
About the Mother She is an Alkidike Shifter mix who was driven from her Alkidike sisters because of her blood having been mixed with that of an earthling. Fearing the same fate would occur if she were to join her other half she eventually fled her parent who believed she would learn to have to stand on her own feet without any support and learned to live alone.
About the Mother She was born of an Ice father and a wind mother. though the tribes were simpler and seemed to have a great knowledge of each others existence before the other tribes found them. Love seemed to flow between the two and they took to living a life in the cold world with the Ice tribe.
About the circumstances that lead to Maya becoming the soul guardian of the lotus.
After they were discovered by the other tribes they made a commitment to each other to approach Aisha and plead to have a child of their own. Since one could not bear children herself being prominently Alkidike physically with few shifter qualities she figured she would have to approach Aisha. With her love this time instead of returning alone as she did every year prior. The journey was hard even if they had been among the first to arrive. The Alkidike half breed had been constantly threatened with each return growing worse.
Though they were able to make their plea it seemed a group of the Alkidike sisters were threatened by their approach of aisha. Deaming them poison to their kind, something that would ultimately destroy the Alkidikes and their purity. It had not been long after their plead to Aisha had been heard that they were soon found by the threatening sisters and chased away from Chibar. No matter now many times either woman tried to return for their child, they were denied and attacked. Desperate they made one final attempt that ended in the slaughter of their lives.

Hurrah! Thank you for putting so much effort into this, and thank you for being so patient with me in getting a response. =) So now, questions:
Why did Aisha pick Maya, out of everyone, to be the lotus' mother?
You mentioned, "Had the same thing happened here, Maya was sure she would fall under the pressure from her sisters and allow the pure earthling child to fall to whatever fate the creature's had intended for it." What is different, in this circumstance, that will keep Maya from going along with her sisters' shunning of the lotus?
This is such a strange circumstance - the lotus contains a half-breed, something to be shunned. Often, the parents are shunned in these situations as well. Fortunatey, in most situations, the pair has one another to rely on and get through the rough patches. However, Maya will be on her own to raise this unwanted (by her Sisters) child. How will she face those difficult situations?
The story of the mothers is interesting, but I want to know more! Surely, Aisha would be able to sense the danger of producing this child - even more crossbred than any she has produced before. So, I want to know more about the parents' story. How did they meet, fall in love?
Why did they, two women, one of whom was discarded her tribe, feel the need to bring a child into the world? How did they convince Aisha that she should take the risk and give them a child?

Hope you don't mind me placing answers to the questions in the post here. That way you don't have to reread what I've already have up and love.
Q: why Maya A: Aisha picked Maya after seeing how much the Alkidike had changed since she started living in Jahaur. Like her sisters Maya opposed the earthlings with a great deal of distaste. However meeting several different tribes of earthlings and learning that even they can be productive and respectful. She has made friends and even formed crushes on at least one earthling. After her test to become a blade and saving an earthling child. Maya proved her worth in protecting with her very life another even if it wasn't her own blood link.
Maya doesn't know herself well enough to withstand the trials of her sisters when the lotus is brought forth. But she will be able to because of a great love for the abandoned Lotus. She thinks she will be much like her sisters and walk away from the child because she doesn't want to stand out among her sisters. but falls utterly in love with the lotus the moment she touches it. Thinking nothing more matters in her life but protecting a precious child.
Q: Maya shunned and how will she face the circumstances A: Maya trusts in her sisters she lives with at least Dya and Boroki. So she wont be utterly alone. And with her earthling friends she hopes to show them that halfbreeds aren't a bad thing. Just missunderstood. With her Radaku at her side the mixed breed would be protected.
Q: More about how the mothers fell in love and why they wanted a child A: Ovonel, having witnessed her mother's death in a hunting accident when she was old enough to join her on the trip was stricken with grief over her death. Being closer to her mother than her sisters were Ovonel's grief was missunderstood. Grieving themselves they cast out Ovonel blaming her for the death of her mother, because her father had already died when trying to live with the same tribe. Ovonel didn't know exactly which earthling tribe her father originated from. Fearing they would shun her for the same reasons she was driven from her sisters, Ovonel moved North-east through the desert and towards the mountians. She was still much to young to fend for herself Alone instead of in a group. She was hungry, dehydrated, and worst of all cold when she reached the mountains.
Ibiche had been wandering the mountians on patrol her parents living on the edge of the tribe where they felt most comfortable, and where some of the pure ice tribe members who weren't comfortable with the mix were able to live as far as they could comfortably. They were able to accept if reluctantly the love the two had and openly gave them equal rights in the tribe. Several miles from home Ibiche stumbled upon Ovonel who had collapsed into the cold atmosphere. Gathering her up Ibiche took her back home. Her parents already open to the life of loving outside of their own tribe, were quick to notice the strange alien form of the other halfbreed.
Thinking it was best for them to be able to grow up with another halfbreed as a best friend they accepted her and Ovonel quickly assimilated into the ice tribe. Allowing them to open up quickly to halfbreeds being no different than they were. Just physically with diffrent characteristics. Eventually the two fell in love as was normal within the icetribe to find a mate within itself. So they eventually moved and created their own house on the edge not far from Ibiche's. They lived a peaceful life though as a few years passed and their friends started having families of their won Ibiche and Ovonel started yearning for children of their own. Eventually Ovonel told Ibiche how it was possible for them to have children if her diety Aisha allowed them to have one durring the yearly gathering. Inspired by the prospect of getting their own child set out to reach aisha
Their pleading consisted of showing how well protected the child would be when they got home, though they failed to take into account the possibility of the Alkidike sisters attacking them for comming close to Aisha. After all Onovel's mother and father had been able to plead for her. She had also seen the distance usually given to the earthlings and halfbreeds and expected the same then when she approached The great Tree.

Sure!
Teiluj is a highly adventurous child, going to the very edge of the boundaries that have been set upon her by both her age and her mother. Longing for the day when she can explore further than the boundaries and get to know the land and world beyond, just as her mother had told her about in stories of her adventure into the open land. She is well acquainted with the land inside her boundaries, if something has been moved added or out of place it doesn't take much for her to figure out what it was. Often making games to track down the missing objects. This sometimes leads her out of the area's she allowed sending Maya into fits of fretting.
She believes that every waking moment is time for fun and games, and is reluctant to settle down and learn. She enjoys the physical activities such as sparing with her mother and playing with the local wildlife she had come to know in games of hide and seek. Though isn't as enthusiastic about sitting still and learning what she must. Teiluj is a very hands on learner and doesn't do well if she is forced to learn just by listening. She finds touch and sight exiting and dreams up stories she often tells to her mother in the spare time before bed.
The river is one of her favorite places to be much like her mother, and enjoys the time for play they share. The fish they bring home are often Teiluj's favorite things to eat as she doesn't care much for nuts or fruit like her mother. She enjoys the life of stability and routine as a child and can often be upset if things are changed drastically without notice.
She respects her elder's opinions, and that of others but wants them to understand she may not take it into high account like they expect. She wants to form her own ideals, and not be bound to tradition like her mother and her sisters. There is more than one way to do things! Hating someone if they refuse to let her learn in her own way. She doesn't like to be told exactly what to do and even more so by strangers.
She is often thinking of the feelings of people around her and how they would react, when she sees someone suffering she tries to relieve them of their pain even if they don't accept her. Bringing gifts of cooked or dried meat and flowers are her signature when tending to the sick, as there is very little she can do being so young. She feels sorry for the ones in pain and screams of anguish are often very upsetting to her. So much that she will leave the area to escape the sound.
She is very strong willed and wants to do things HER way once she understands what the end result is supposed to be. Even if that means she has to take the longer route. The harder path, or stumble over it for days at a time. She refuses help from anyone other than Maya and insists that she does things herself. She is very independent and quite hard headed. Leading to a very competitive girl she wants to be the best at everything and when she isn't can send her into fits of melancholy or depression for sometimes weeks on end before she pulls herself together and works at making herself better.

Kaname here :}
I think she sounds absolutely wonderful. She's adventurous, rambunctious, and from what it sounds like has a very good memory with keeping track of everything. Her tracking habit reminds me a little of Wad from the Lost Gate (an Orson Scott Card book, though that's the only similarity lol).
I think she sounds absolutely wonderful and a great addition to our Tendaji family.
Her description sounds perfectly fine and interesting and I love her name.
Can you just explain briefly a couple more things.
You say she respects her elders' opinions but knows that there's more than one way to do things. How do authoritative figures (especially Maya) react to her stubborn streak?
And why does she go out of her way to look for misplaced objects rather than just going with the flow?

I hope it's ok if I add the new items to a new post as I have seen others do that way you don't have to keep re-reading what's already been posted.
I cannot say how other's will react to her stubborn streak as each character is different However Maya would find her rather challenging as a child and at first grit her teeth and rather frustrated until she is reminded that her daughter is very much like her. When she was younger.
Miss placed objects means someone has trespassed into their territory. Possibly challenging the safety of her family, it's more in part a sense of her chore to notice if there is any danger.
