Silenos watched the land from a top a tall rock. The rock was shaded by a tree thank goodness. Today was a particularly hot day and he did not want to do any walking under the hot sun. Even if he was hungry he wouldn't bother going out there. Once it was evening he might go out and see if he could catch himself a small meal, but until then he would just wait.
He did want to do something to occupy his boredom. There wasn't much to do though on his rock. Just sit, watch and be alone. Being alone wasn't something new to Silenos. Most of his travels had been done by himself. He felt that he would grow tired of a traveling partner and so tended to keep away from them. It was much more easier to have short relationships then permanent ones, he thought.
He glanced around to see if there was something to do if he did get off his rock. In front of him was a dessert area. That was the direction he had came from and he had no intention of going back anytime soon. He glanced behind him, looking at the trees. As he traveled he saw a oasis and decided to spend time there. He thought it was a lucky find. Beyond the trees was the tinkling of water. 'I could use a drink,' he thought as he hopped off his rock.

Typically, Subira wasn't the type to travel alone. Truthfully she hated the whole idea of being alone, it drove her mad! The deafening silence all to often filled her heart with loneliness and only helped to widen the gaping hole in her heart. She knew something was missing in her life, but so far she just couldn't figure out what. So she traveled alone, meeting up with strangers whenever the opportunity presented itself, and traveling alone when it did not. Often times she had though of taking on a travelling companion, perhaps a bird of some kind. But all too often she changed her mind, birds had wings, which meant it could simply abandon her at any time. She didn't need that, she needed a constant companion, someone who she could always count on... Treading her steps lightly, the female had hardly taken any recognition of her current location. She was simply allowing her feet to wander, while her mind took care of its own issues. As she came to though, she took notice of the oasis her feet had carried her to. It was quiet here, aside from the trickling of water somewhere nearby. It wasn't exactly her ideal hangout, but the ache if her feet demanded she stay. She sighed, a rough heavy sigh as she allowed her feet to tuck under her tired body. For now, she would rest, but only for a bit. Her heart was telling her she needed to find something, and her feet could only prevent that for so long.

The sound of silence filled his ears. That was his favorite sound, silence. There were few sounds that could compare to it. As he made his way to the water, he thought he saw someone already there. He hadn't heard any foot steps, he thought as he watched the stranger carefully, but gave her a friendly smile as he approached the small bit of water.
He dipped his head toward it and took a drink, though he continued to watch her. Silenos wasn't the trusting type. Sure he could get along with about anyone, it was just that he didn't ever trust them much. "Nice area to get a drink huh?" he said after he finished taking a sip.
He found a flat rock and laid down on it in near the water, that way he could get more water if he needed it. His eyes left the hyena and looked back from where he came from. "I wish the weather would change. I can't stand hunting in this heat." He complained with a grin, not wanting to seem like he was too serious about the weather. "I am thinking about traveling somewhere cooler. How about you? You a traveler or do you just live in this wasteland?"

His words were the first thing to attract her attention, otherwise she likely wouldn't have noticed them. The poor girl was so wrapped up in her own thoughts, that it was near impossible to break through. "More like the only area!" She smiled, offering a small laugh to help smooth over her abrupt comment. From her perspective at least, that last comment rang true. She'd been walking for quite some time with no signs of water anywhere, then as if by magic it had appeared! Along with some company .... She had heard tales of gods as a pup but had never taken much trust in them. Perhaps now, she would have to think twice. "It is pretty unbearable isn't it? If I could shed my fur right now, I don't think i'd have much issue with it. It'd be a nice refreshing change from this wicked heat." She continued on, hardly taking time for a breath. Fearful that if she so much as paused, he would lose interest completely. "I'm a little of both, I guess you could say. This is my home, but it is also my destination. I like to move around a lot but i'm a little fearful of leaving too far from what I know. How about you? Do you know of any cooler places, I've heard there are some up in the mountains, but I guess that would mean I couldn't shed my fur afterall!"

A soft chuckle left him. "I guess this spot being the only source of water just makes it that more important, that much more special. Perhaps it is meant to be a spot where travelers set aside their differences so they can all have a drink." He said, with a smile. It would be nice if it did have some sort of special meaning, though Silenos doubted there was any really meaning for the oasis being out in the middle of no where. It was just a coincidence.
"Agreed. Sometimes our fur can be our own worst enemy." he said with a nod. Though he was awfully fond of his fur, despite how thick it was. He thought it would be better if he found a different place to stay instead.
"It isn't the worst place to live, I'll give it that." he said with a laugh. He had seen tar pits that made this land look like a wondrous dream land. "Traveling a short distance is the best way to start, though you should really see the land far from here. It is dangerous, but is completely worth it. I've always traveled, from one land to the next. Best way to live, in my opinion."
It had been ages since he had been up in the mountains. "Yeah, the mountain areas are wonderful, Rocky but great. Once time, when I was much younger, there had been snow on top of the mountain top. That was something else. I'll never forget it. That was the coldest I had ever been. That's something I won't ever forget easily."

Subira smiled fondly at the male as he joked about their fur. He was definitely right about it being their worst enemy, but was also their best friend. Shrugging mentally, she supposed some battles just weren't meant to be won or lost. This was most definitely one of them. "Oh no it definitely isn't, in fact its a lovely little place when the weather isn't trying to kill you." Chuckling she hid herself behind her paw, a little self conscience about her laugh. It was strange, every masculine with just a hint of feminist hidden in the tone. She listened though, regardless of her own worries, so he was a far distance traveler huh? As interesting of a way to live as that sounded, it just scared her to death. "One day, I hope to see the far off lands that others like you speak of. But so far my heart just can't take the journey. I'm deathly afraid of leaving my familiarity behind. Its almost as if, i'm leaving a piece of myself behind.." She sighed, though tried to keep a straight face, which only became harder as he spoke of snow. She'd heard of it once before, and had always yearned to place a paw into some. But around here - you just didn't get that type of weather. "Awww I bet it won't be! It sounds so amazing, i've heard of snow once before from an older lion who once lived in the mountains. Ever since then its been a weird goal of mine to get there. The lion even promised he would take me! But .. I declined .. leaving yourself behind is hardwork ..."Realizing just how sappy and whiny her conversation was getting she attempted to shake herself out of it. "Ha, sorry I don't mean to drag you into some weird stranger's pity party!"

Silenos stayed quite as she spoke, nodding his head occasionally. “Ah no, it's quite alright. I don't mind listening to your troubles. The only problem I have with them is that I wouldn't be able to help you.” He wished he could. A life stuck in one placed seemed so odd, so ordinary. He couldn't imagine living everyday in the same place. That said, he would never try to change someone else's lifestyle just because he didn't understand it.
“Traveling can be scary at sometimes. There are some nights where I am too afraid to go to sleep because I feel unsafe.” These nights didn't happen to often but when they did it affected his traveling the next day. He hardly ever made plans on where he would be staying. Usually he just found a cave and slept there for the night, hoping no one would bother him.
“I think that if you are interested in seeing the snow top mountains, that you should start working on traveling. Perhaps you can start by taking small day trips and returning to your home for the night? And I suggest if you do end up traveling far, to find a traveling partner.” There were only a couple occasions when he traveled with someone. He could see the benefits of having one though, especially for a first time traveler. “If you're interested, I could always take a detour on my little adventure and travel with you to the mountains. We wouldn't need to go right away of course. If you're interested, we could spend some time preparing then go. I do understand if you aren't ready for such a big trip though. I wouldn't want to rush you into something like this.”
It would be a change of pace to have someone to travel with, to talk to. Even if she didn't want to go on the trip with him, he thought it might be enjoyable to stick around with her for a couple days. Depawsit So sorry it took so long!

Subira could feel her heart pumping in her chest at just the idea of leaving. It was quite an odd mix of emotions, the yearning to want to leave and discover the world, and the idea of leaving yourself behind to do it. Was it something she was truly capable of doing? Her heart said no, but it also begged her to try anyway. "I think you might be on to something, to be completely truthful. I can not tell you how many times i've tried to convince myself of these very same ideals. But every time I get to my own border, it seems like my body locks up! I'm frozen, and terrified and as soon as my muscles untense, I run deep into my territory and hide. Such a shameful creature I am." She tried to laugh, but she was far too saddened for much to come of it. As she listened to Silenos' continued suggestions, her ears perked a bit. She felt a small bit of hope flutter in her chest, though she didn't allow it to get out of hand. "D-Do you really mean that? I wouldn't want to impose upon you..." A pause filled the air as she tried to think of what to say next. "Or to waste your time.." Her ears drooped with her small admission. She really didn't have much faith in herself, and it was really beginning to show. Club Snails Not a problem, I know how things go sometimes C:

"There is nothing shameful about being afraid to leave your home. The fact that you have the desire to want to leave and explore means that you aren't a coward. You just need to work at it." He said with a nod. He didn't have a home to leave behind, but he could imagine how difficult it would be to find somewhere safe and want to venture away from it, knowing it was dangerous out there.
"You wouldn't impose at all. It is about time I tried traveling with another hyena. And time isn't a concern of mine. Currently I don't have a destination, so taking a 'side trip' wouldn't be a hassle at all. In fact I think it would be rather enjoyable." He grinned, it was oddly exciting to go on a little adventure with a hyena he just met. "And don't worry about making your choice right away. I can hang around here for a couple days in order to allow you to make a decision, that is if you don't mind me hanging around."

Subira's heart was beating wildly in her chest, whether it was anxiety or excitement, she couldn't tell. All she knew was that she really liked this hyena, or at least his ideas. He believed in her, which was far more than she could say for herself. It gave her an odd warming sensation in her chest that felt really nice. "I don't think I would mind that at all."She smiled a shy smile, as her tail wagged against her side slowly. Maybe this time she would actually be able to step over the boundaries that had held her captive for so long? She'd never tried leaving with the help of another before, especially one so ... upbeat. Perhaps that personality of his was just what she needed to change her life for the better? Batting her eyelashes, she looked up at him from under them. Her sshy smile still present on her lips. "Thank you...." Suddenly Subira became very flustered, and her paws pranced anxiously in the dirt. "Oh dear ... i'm so sorry! I'm afraid I never asked you your name. OH! I didn't even tell you mine! I am Subira."

It was rare for Silenos to really appreciate the beauty in others. Usually he focused more on the environment he was in, instead of looking at the creates who lived there. Right now though, he was focused on Subira. He let out a laughed. “I guess we were both caught up in the moment. It's nice to meet you Subira. My name is Silenos.” He was looking forward to the next couple days. It would give him a chance to get to know Subira. Having someone to talk to for once would make life a bit less average. “Perhaps, if you're interested, you could give me a quick tour of the area later? I am assuming I haven't seen all this land has to offer.”

"Silenos, I like that name. Its different, but its a good kind of different!"Subira smile happily at him, and even managed to sneak in a bit of a giggle. Though she tried to hide it behind a very cute smile. She was really starting to like this guy ... he was charming ... adventurous ... and polite. Two out of three weren't bad! Mentally she laughed to herself, though plhysically in manifested as a very sheepish grin. "OH! But of course! I would love to give you a tour! And you are quite right! There is much more to this land that meets the eye." Subira's tail began to wag with excitement at the prospect of his idea. She couldn't wait to show off her territory to a friend. "But for now, we should get some rest in. My territory is large, and some of it can be hard to traverse in the high heat of noon. The sands tend to get exceptionally hot around this time." Patting the ground near her, she offered Silenos a spot, and hoped he would take it. Club Snails I think we can end this one here? What do you think?
