Since choosing her clan, Esmeralda had barely touched on her powers. Oh she’d practice alright, that had been entertaining enough to the others. She’d beat up her father in the process, and thus she’d decided that maybe she ought to keep her powers for the dragons. Which was why she was out here right now, trying to find another innocent victim for her to kill. Poor dragons, now that she had powers it made this sort of thing so much easier than running around blind and clueless. Plus, this would be great extra practice so that next time she actually had the ability to not beat up her father so much.
Esmeralda had become to the grassy beyond that went on and on, but she knew the dragons were in there, waiting for their next meal. Lips in a firm line, the Dovaa set in at a slow pace. The grass here wasn’t as high as other places she’d visited; this was good for smaller dragons to hide within and easier for Esme to not get chomped in the process. As per usual, she didn’t find the dragon first, it found her. Though by the time she did notice the dragon, it had managed to climb onto her back and send Esmeralda running in all directions. By the time she realised the thing on her back was just a very young dragon, the grass climbed high above her head, this was where the much larger dragons hide and she’d sworn never to go this far.
The nightmare happened when Esmeralda tried to get out of the long grass and stumbled onto a small pond with a large dragon head quietly sipping water by the edge. When it spotted her, and what was on her back it hissed. The tiny dragon moved to what Esme guessed was its mother and she took off in the opposite direction, but it wasn’t enough. The larger dragon caught up to her easily, stopping her in her tracks and starring her down until its tinnier version chirped to catch its attention. It was like a silent warning, one the Dovaa clearly understood.
