So far the only people he'd met so far were his parents and siblings. No one besides them, so whenever they saw a group or loner wandering off on the horizon he would get excited, but so far he'd not actually run into anyone he could go over and talk to. His parents were leery about letting him meet adults he guessed. Something about not everyone being friendly.
It wasn't so bad though, his brother and sister were fun to play with and his mom and dad kept telling them about this pride they were looking for, it was a cheetah racing pride! It sounded exciting. Mom was going to be a healer and dad a breeder. Whatever that was, it still sounded cool to him.

 Gulzar had lived in the rogue lands all his life and as far as he knew that's all there was in the great wide world. It wasn't an adventure - it was just the way life was. The only people that mattered were his mother and siblings and that was just fine with him.
Of course he knew that there were other creatures in the rogue lands and a lot of the adults were big and dangerous, so he must always stick close to his mother. He did his best to be good and stay close, but sometimes he still wandered. Like right now - one of his siblings had challenged him to a race and he'd gotten so caught up in running that he didn't know where his sibling was and he wasn't entirely sure where he was either.
He slunk low in the grass, not wanting to attract attention, and listened carefully. He tensed as he heard a rustling noise, but it sounded like something small moving - probably his sibling! "GOTCHA!" he shouted as he burst out of the grass.

The small lion cub had just captured a beetle and was playing with it when he heard something. His ears perked and he looked around, but the grass was so tall he couldn't see anything else near by. After a hesitant moment, he went back to playing with the beetle, only to realize it was gone. With a soft groan he set about trying to find it again, rustling through the grass as he went.
He hadn't expected to find anyone out here, maybe a sibling coming after him to tell him mom was worried, but nothing else. So, when a mostly white juve pounced him, yelling 'Gotcha', Nil kind of flipped out and started screaming, like a girl. He squirmed and struggled, unsure of what had hit him.
After he stopped freaking out long enough to inspect his attacker he blinked, ears perked forward and stared at the other. "Wha, who, who are you?"

That was not his sibling. That was most definitely not anybody he knew. "Stop screaming!" Gulzar shouted, half panicked himself. What on earth had he pounced? He looked nothing like him or anybody he knew. Maybe a lion? Had he pounced a lion cub? Lions were dangerous!
"I'm Gulzar," he said once the other cub had stopped screaming. "Who are you? You're not my sibling!"

Nili'doa finally realized this other thing on top of him wasn't going to hurt him. He eyed the other up and down a moment then blinked when he spotted the tail. That was no lion tail, not one Nili had seen before. Now he peered at the other curiously.
"I'm Nili'doa. And what are you?" He couldn't help but wonder. His frame was built differently than Nili's. He had only really seen his parents, both lions, and his siblings, also all lions. He knew his mother had grown up half cheetah sons, but he had no idea what that would look like.

"It's awful nice to meet you Nili'doa," he said, minding his manners. "I'm a leopardcheetah! Mother is a leopard."
The other cub didn't look anything like his mother or her descriptions of cheetahs. "You're not a lion are you?" he asked, suspicious. "You have fur growing on your tail. It looks funny."

The little lions eyes went wide. "Leopard and Cheetah!? That's amazing!" He stated loudly, staring at the other boy with new found interest. "My mom says I have four big brothers who are half lion half cheetah." He peered at Gulzar with a bright friendly smile. Boy, would his brother and sister be jealous when they found out he'd met a leopard-cheetah. This was just the best day ever!
When the other boy mentioned lions were dangerous Nil tilted his head to the side. "Dangerous? I'm not dangerous." He said with a curious look. How could he be dangerous? The only creatures he'd seen mom and dad attack were prey animals to feed their cubs. He didn't even stop to consider that perhaps other creatures were afraid of lions. "Yeah I am a lion, but I'm not dangerous! Look, you're bigger than me, I couldn't eat you or anything." He said in sincere voice.

"A lioncheetah! I never met any of those." Gulzar wondered what such a thing would look like. Would it be small like him, or big like a lion? Would it be fast or slow? And most importantly, would it have a tuft of fur at the end of its tail?
"That's only because I'm older," Gulzar told the other cub. "I'm almost a juve and everything. You'd be bigger if we were the same age; all lions are giants. But I guess some lions aren't dangerous. I like you just fine!"
"I'm sorry I jumped on you earlier," he added. "I thought you were somebody else."

Nil gave the leotah a big, friendly grin and bounced around a little. "It's okay! I thought maybe you were my brother when you ounced me, but, well... you're not. But still, I forgive you." He chirped on happily, looking around then bouncing around Gulzar excitedly as he looked at the shape of the others head, his body and his tail. "So you're cheetah and leopard? I've never seen either before, but they must be cool looking like you!" He praised happily.
"My parents are taking me and my siblings to this pride where we get to watch cheetahs race all the time. I've never seen one though, but I hear they are like, the fastest things in the whole world! Are you pretty fast too?" He stopped bouncing around the other and sat in front of him, looking up at the hybrid with excited eyes. If this half cheetah half leopard was fast, Nil totally wanted to see him run. That would be something to brag to his siblings about, and his mom would be so happy to hear he'd made a friend.
