PERSONALITY
General:
Like his cousin, Alexander was raised in a pure blood house hold, but unlike Rory, his mother set her foot down firmly on his education in the pure blood versus any other magical blood and made sure he didn't automatically think himself better then someone just because of their parents. Because of that he feels free to be friendly to anyone, no matter their blood status, and will judge them on their personality. Of course somethings influence his bias still, like he honestly believes that Gryffindors and Ravenclaws are crazy for living in towers, but that is just because of his fear of heights.
Generally he is polite when meeting someone for the first time, having the proper manners drilled into him from a young age, and rarely is he rude unless it is warranted. However, after the first meeting and he starts to feel relaxed around someone, his politeness can start to slip and some of his trollish nature slips through. It amuses him when it takes only a little bit to get under people's skin at times, he's amazed how an amused smile in the 'wrong place' can set off some personality types and he just thinks it's all in good fun.
He believes in sticking to what you start with almost no exceptions. If he is given a problem to solve or a project to be completed, he will work almost non stop until they are finished. This also applies to when he sets his sight on a certain grade or position on a team. There have been many times where he worked through the night, trying to complete a project of some type even when it doesn't have to been done right away. Two of the exceptions are if the project has no real meaning whether for school or some other personal reason, or if he gets bored with it; he will easily drop it and rarely does he pick those time of projects back up. Another exception would be if the problem/project would interfere with someone else's health in some way or if it interferes with his goal.
He has a lot of energy and cannot just laze around doing nothing. He gets bored and has to do something whether it is read a book, something hands on, anything so long as he is doing something that occupies his mind and/or body. This regularly causes him to have insomnia. Fortunately, the lack of sleep doesn't slow him down when he wakes up around 7am to 8am ready to find something to do to ease the already creeping feeling of boredom. The only time you see him laying down and seemingly doing nothing is when he is thinking too deeply to do anything else at the same time.
Habits: He pets/strokes his own hair when he is tired, sticks his tongue out when concentrating and bounces or rocks on his heels when excited.
Hobbies:
Plays the violin~ According to him it is an aristocratic instrument but in actuality he just finds it fun and soothing to play. He can play only a few songs but he knows the few songs well enough to play them almost perfectly, or perfectly in the case of his favorite song, Spring by Vivaldi.
Reading~ Something he and his cousin share is the love of reading. He prefers mysteries, fantasy, adventure and sometimes, rarely, romance and only if it is mixed in with something else!
Likes: Tea, books, cute animals, potions
Dislikes: Heights, broccoli, brooms
FAMILY
Mother: Stephanie Scott [very little magical power but is a pure blood]. She and her family moved to America when she was little so she went to Salem instead of Hogwarts. She is a strong willed woman that thinks that blood status is outdated thanks to being the best friend of a muggle born back in the States.
Father: Edward Scott [Hufflepuff, pure blood]. Second child of Acanthus Scott and brother to Jacob. He was sort of the odd child, having little ambition but plenty of determination. He met Stephanie a year after graduation and after a short time of courting, asked her to marry him.
Siblings: None.
Extended Family:
Acanthus Scott~ [Pure blood, Slytherin] Grandfather and the current head of the Scott family house hold.
Jacob Scott~ [Pure blood, Slytherin] Father of Rory and heir to the Scott family.
Annabeth Scott~ [Pure blood, Gryffindor] Mother of Rory.
Rory Scott~ Xander's favorite, and only until the new baby is born, cousin. They get along well and are close though Rory acts like the older of the two most of the time. More information see here.
Rebecca Scott~ [Pure blood, Slytherin] Xander hasn't stayed around to talk to her very often and doesn't know what to think of her other or the fact that she is carrying his second cousin.
Relationship with Family: Xander is close to both his parents, only favoring one over the other in certain situations. Though at times he is annoyed when they get over protective. His grandfather and uncle he isn't as close to but he hangs around them when he's visiting Rory, while he doesn't spend time with his new Aunt and was never close to his previous one.
HISTORY
General History:
Born in the London house his parents owned, Xander grew up more of a dual citizen of the UK and Ireland thanks to the fact his parents had a house in each. They would alternate between the houses each season of the year, every spring and autumn they would stay in Ireland at a countryside house, while every summer and winter they would stay in the London house. When he was two the little blond had gotten out of his room with some accidental magic and found his way to one of the second story balconies to play. Unfortunately while he was running around on it playing with a tiny four inch toy broom magicked to fly around him, he fell off the side after trying to catch the toy. His own magic saved him and his parents were sure to ward every balcony ever since but thanks to the fall he has a terrible fear of heights that he can't over come. After he hit five his parents started to notice that he had problems breathing some times and took him to see a mediwizard by the name of Dr. J. Philip and found out about his allergies to pollen and dust. Of course preventative actions were taken to help limit the reactions. By the time he was six he started to stay over at his cousin Rory's house for a few nights at a time where they got into mischief.
When he was seven years old there was an incident in the spring with him slipping out of the Ireland house and finding his way into a small forest with the family dog, Ace, following him. They explored the woods for two hours before Xander realized that he was lost and, rather then get Ace to sniff their way home, he decided to find their way back on his own. By the third hour he was riding Ace like a horse in the middle of a clearing perfectly happy to lay instead of finding a way out and that was where his father found him after he had gone looking for him on a broom two hours previous. Needless to say he was grounded for a long time for the scare. The rest of the years passed by with only little events here and there but in the summer before Rory was to go to Hogwarts the pollen count was particularly high. He was already having some problems when he went over to Rory's house for a two week sleep over. One of the days he had gone into the living room to find a book he had left there only to walk in just in time for Jacob to use the floo powder, some which didn't make it into the fire and instead into the air which in turn combined with the problems he was having already, set Xander off into an asthma attack. He was rushed to the hospital where he spent over night recovering. After that he was taken back home by his worried parents and he hasn't been back to Rory's house since.
MISCELLANEOUS
The Sorting:
Xander waited patiently, or relatively patient considering he was slightly rocking on his heels. For every letter for the last names that passed by his grin got slightly wider and his rocking turned into a slight bounce instead. Finally he was called though and he barely refrained from bouncing up there, instead he moved at a normal pace with his hands clasped behind his back. He sat down and the hat was put on his head before there was a shout of, “SLYTHERIN!”
Boggart:
A flying ledge. His greatest fear has been of heights ever since he was a toddler and fell off one of the second story balconies.
Mirror of Erised:
Should he look into the mirror he would see his self surrounded by his family while himself being a famous mediwizard. Ever since he was little he has had an admiration for medical wizards and witches, eventually deciding he wanted to be one when he was older.
EXTRA CREDIT
Patronus: A dog. His mom once compared his father jokingly since he was so loyal and it just sort of stuck.
Greatest Treasure: An old book on Transfiguration given to him by his mother said to have been passed down through the family's generations.
Manner of Dress: When it's just him and his family he dresses casually but when other people might be around he tends to dress semi-casually.
Favorite Class: Transfiguration (though he tells Rory it's Divination to be a troll)
Worst Class: Flying. He honestly can not go higher then 15 to 20 feet as he turns into a sobbing mess.
