Finding death hunters Solia decided, was fun. They were a bit scattered around, most of them older in both age and rank, but still, she was curious about them and eager to learn the secrets of the division she’d been placed in. A few hours spent in an office with several mission reports, and she could guess what they were supposed to do. Her favorite thing really. Fact hunt. Book after book, she was making it a plan to read a book every few days. Learn as much as she could. Find out everything possible and be as helpful as possible. Finding out everything though, meant talking to her senior hunters. So each time she saw the twin scythes, she was running after them, questions bubbling up. She was pretty sure she might have scared one or two hunters but she’d make them cupcakes later. A boy, green and white and gold twin scythes, had her perk up from her place in the empty room, files nearly finished. Setting the last ones where they needed to go, she popped out of the room, following the fellow death trainee with a smile. Right behind him. “Hi.” She hoped he noticed and didn’t pretend to ignore her. Some of the death people tried that, so rude. “I’m Solia.”

There was always something for Wilson to read, whether he liked it or not. The library was large and for him, someone who wasn’t as much of a bookworm as Em was, it was a daunting task to attempt to go through as many books as possible. The amount of reading was endless, never shrinking even when he plowed through a pile of texts. As he walked down the halls of the main building, he kept his nose buried in a book about ghosts. He kept walking until he heard a greeting right behind him. Wilson jumped up and let go of his book. “Shoot.” He hastily reached for the book and grabbed it, the pages slightly crumped.
“No one will notice that, right?” he muttered to himself before he spun around and greeted Solia with a polite wave and smile. “Hey! …” Wide eyes took in the woman’s appearance and the dual scythes emblazoned on her coat. “Are you new? I’m Wilson. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He held out his free hand for a handshake. “Is there something I can help you with…?”

He dropped his book. And jumped. And then Solia felt bad and made her way over to try and help but god he was fine and handled and now she was stick with scaring him and not being able to apologize for it. “Yeah. Solia Delacroix.” She shook his hand, looking sheepishly at the floor. “Sorry if I ah, startled you. I try not to creep up on people but… five foot.” She held up a hand to emphasize her height. “Hard to when so few look down. “But, maybe? I was kind of going to ask the same thing. See, I keep running into people and they tend to tell me I don’t have permission to know things but then I’m like, well shouldn’t I be able to and they they’re like ‘omg no, go back to being our carry b***h trainee’ and then I get sent to run paperwork around.” Hands went up in the air. “So kind of just… finding death hunters who don’t look TOO busy and seeing if they might have time to answer a question… or five? If you are busy I can bother you later but just want to figure some stuff out. Death stuff. Without getting told that everything is classified. I mean really, a bathroom location is not on a ‘need to know basis’.” Someone tried to sell that to her.

“Solia? That’s a pretty name.” Then he laughed and shook his head while waving a hand at the other death hunter. “No no! It’s fine. I shouldn’t have been walking around with my nose buried in a book anyways.” Wilson grinned sheepishly as he stared down at Solia. Five feet versus five-foot-eleven. Yeah, she wasn’t exactly the most noticeable person around.
Lips were pressed together as Solia jumped into an explanation. His eyes were wide and attentive as usual while he listened politely. At the end, Wilson cracked a smile. “Yeah, I’ve realized that’s how this place likes to work, unfortunately. But no worries! I’m pretty free at the moment, so if you have any questions feel free to shoot away and I’ll answer them best as I can.” At the mention of a bathroom, Wilson leaned to the side and stared down the portion of the hallway behind Solia. “Just go straight behind you, take a left, and the bathroom should be on your right.” Wilson smiled.

She shot Wilson the look a person would give a god send. He was nice. He had FREE time. He was willing to answer QUESTIONS. Wilson had just jumped onto Solia’s favorite person list. Plus the compliment about her name helped. “Honestly if they let me I’d probably be spending my time in the library reading up on everything or in the mission report files. But… newbie. They won’t let me see the juicy stuff just yet. And unlike AFF.net I can’t just BS my age and name to get access. It’s more like the romance section with the bad airbrushed covers. They say romance but nope. Noooooope. Everyone knows what it is so the dang librarians just go nope and don’t even let you get to the section without some hella hard judging.” Maybe that made sense to Solia but it was anyone’s guess what sense it made to the average person. “Anyway I digress. Wilbur right? Bad with names. But how do we get in on those files? What konami code do I need? I mean I know I can bribe but then I dunno with what. Explain to me things that I need to be aware of in general. Who’s the top boss and how much grinding do I have to do? I’ve got a Madoka bow but I don’t know how that translates into Death. Do we ever to like you know…” She looked around. “Kill people? Like, kill kill?” She didn’t look as enthusiastic about that question. At the very least she was going to let Wilson talk.

When one did not understand what the other was saying, it was wise to keep smiling and nodding while attempting to stay attentive. Over the years, Wilson had learned to pull this off flawlessly. At least certain parts of her rambling made sense to him. Other parts? Not so much. Konami code sounded a bit familiar, but what kind of bow did a Madoka bow look like? It sounded Asian (not Chinese because he was a Chinese expert k).
“Wilson,” he corrected briefly. “Wilson Hopkins.” As soon as Solia paused, he immediately jumped into silently mouthing words to himself as he counted out the questions he could remember. “I don’t know about mission reports, but basic information about Halloween shouldn’t be too hard to access. You can probably find them on the computers or some books in the library if you search enough.” The death hunter chose to ignore the metaphor seeing as it barely made sense to him.
“Some information you’ll have to wait until you get promoted or yeah, you can bribe I guess Mark if you really want it. Top boss—as in the Death division leader—is Caelius and the assistant is Mark. Sun leader is Allan and assist is Simon. Moon leader is Edith and assist is…Charlotte? Mist lead is Aria and assist is uuuuh, Lance. Life lead is H and assist is Clarice.” He paused to catch his breath. “Hunters with certain weapons don’t really get sorted into the same division. It depends more on the person’s skillset.” Wilson scrunched up his face when he remembered how certain sortings were…questionable. “We don’t kill people as in humans. Halloween citizens? A common occurrence, but since they essentially have multiple lives I’ve learned to cope with it.”
Another breath. A smile. “Anything else?”

Wilson? “LIKE THE VOLLEYBALL!” She actually bounced when the reference clicked in her head. She was so proud of herself. It didn’t help that Israfel was giving her a mental pat on the head like she’d done a good job on something. “Okay though, lemme just-“ She fished around in her pockets, pulling out a tiny sticky note pad she had ‘borrowed’ from a desk. The pen was borrowed too. Solia planned to return them. Later. “Computers. I’ve been doing mostly stuff in the library. Did you know we have Twilight in there? Like, I can’t… what does that make people fear? Terrible fanfiction? Sparkling vampires? Are there sparkling vampires? If there are I think it would be a sad existence.” Doomed to a life of teen angst. That hardly sounded fun. “Oh Sorry sorry. Okay. Leads.” She took off the top note, sticking it to the inside of her coat. Jolting down the things Wilson listed off she bit her lip. Bribe Mark. Mark Mark Mark Marksman. Hawkeye. Yes. She could do that. “Ah so it’s more like the sorting hat! I guess that would make us… Slytherin. Awesome.” She preferred Ravenclaw but an Alan Rickman was fine too. Maybe this Caelius was their Alan Rickman. Double badass. “But that is good to hear about people cuz uh… I.. don’t think I could do that. But how do you mean multiple lives?” She gave Wilson a leosquint. “They eat mushrooms or something?” Israfel sighed. Dissipation Anticipation~ Is that from a musical? It’s my job~ To steal and rob~Solia’s mind had wandered again, and Israfel was left to look for it.

Wilson cocked his head, the reference lost on him. “Sure?” Whatever Solia was referring to, she seem pleased with forging the connection. That was good, he supposed. He crinkled his nose at the mention of a certain book. “A sparkling Edward in the movies was terrifying in a way, I suppose,” he guessed. “Fear is a funny thing.” His eyes darted to the side as he gave the idea more thought and added, “Human movies and stories affect Halloween, so that may be why it’s in there.”
Another curious tilt of the head at the reference. “Interesting comparison, but not quite perfect. There are five divisions, but four Hogwarts houses. But Caelius fits Slytherin pretty well,” he admitted grimly. “Have you met Caelius yet? He’s…not the nicest person around? To put it very lightly.”
He walked toward the wall and leaned against it. “Mushrooms?” [What do mushrooms have to do with this?] “No, Halloween creatures are made out of human fear and have a FEAR core of sorts. You’ll probably want to ask a Lifer for why this happens, but you can kill a creature and the FEAR will put them back together again and again until eventually they just don’t reform anymore.” Wilson scratched his cheek. “Does that make sense?”iStoleYurVamps Solia is testing my TiH knowledge /leosquint

She gave a visble shudder. "The lord have mercy on whatever poor spawn has been born from that abomination of literature. I'm waiting for fifty shades series to show up. That? All my no. Tumblr itself might spawn a copy in halloween... oh god well at least they would suffer with us." She snickered. "Fear is kinda cool really! Like magic. Only instead of wands we get weapons, and thus far, no idea who Voldemort is." Yet. "The relation our world has on their own and perhaps their effects on our world... oh I should research that too huh!" She jolted it down. Halloween/RL=otp Wpreg? MtF???? MtM? Science?? Ask- and then a doodle of a tree. The fact he knew her pop culture reference had he smiling. "Not going to lie, it's fun to make comparisons. And nope. No Caelius! People keep saying that about him though." A small frown, she added his name to her notes alone with a frowning face. "Mushrooms, mario joke. But note made." 'Ask life about fear core.' another tree. "Life has a lot of dirt. No wonder we don't like them." Said the girl who liked the life people she'd met thus far. "It does make sense though. In my head I just liken it to having to kill a boss in cycles. Kill it enough times, it stays dead."

Wilson furrowed his brows. Fifty Shades? No thank you. “Halloween seems to delight in the scary, so I don’t know how much they would actually suffer if that happened,” he answered in all seriousness.
“I don’t think there’s an actual Voldemort to this story, but if I had to peg someone as Voldemort, I’d say it was Medea. I’m neutral towards the regular Halloween creatures, but the horsemen? That’s sort of another story altogether.” Fortunate that Wilson didn’t need to look at Solia’s notes. Deciphering alien language was impossible for him.
He nodded his head knowingly. “Yeah. I don’t think you’ll like Caelius much. A lot of people don’t, I imagine. Likes to chew people out and has no qualms about using others, but he gets the job done.” Wilson opened his mouth as she explained the mushroom reference. Oooooh. “I like Life. If I hadn’t been in the Death division I probably would have ended up there. I did a lot of research stuff during college.”
“That’s a nice way to put it, I suppose.” The hunter stuffed his hands into his jacket pockets. “Do you have any other questions? Have you settled in and stuff?”

Her face went into deadpan. "It's bad fanfiction. No sane person walks away unscathed." She shrugged. "Well, I mean, they seem sane? Sentient at any rate. And.. Medea. Okay." The name was added to her notes, another frownie face. Only with a sticky figure pony next to it. "Horsemen- not heard much about them aside from being general bad news. Some of the files still on lock down I guess? Its here and there." She waved it off with her free hand. "I agree about the regulars though. They seem fairly anti-hunter but ambivalent towards humans on a whole. And most of us seem to just... yeah. Yeah. Work is work." She shrugged. "I like life too, well, the people in it. They're actually really nice?" Another shrug. "Things are weirdly complex without being complex. I'm just kind of holding judgement on negatives. Andddd...." Note book snapped shut, she nodded her head. Braid coming a bit loose. "Nope! That sums up all I can think of for now. Why? God anything to add or warn me about?"

He smiled uneasily. “I see. Unfortunately, I don’t read a lot of fanfiction.” Then Wilson shrugged. “I don’t know a lot about the horsemen, but since they’re like an entirely new civilization compared to the rest of Halloween…” Another shrug.
Wilson nodded with approval. “That’s good. It’s often better to take your time and see the whole picture before making a final judgment.” He crossed his arms, a hand over his mouth. “Not anything I can think at the moment, no. Things might be rough, but it’s better to just push through. Deus is not friendly to disobedience or someone who’s useless.” He uncrossed his arms to flip his book back open. “I hope that cleared things up! It was nice meeting you, Solia.”

It was okay she figured. Fan fiction was very much a girl dominated sport. Sport as it was… competitive. Shipping wars. Review wars. Flaming. Counter fics. Making sure it was canon versus the non canon, the headcanons. Very competitive. “Okay though. Will look into the ponies.” Another quick pony doodle with lots of question marks. Okay she was done. For reals. “If it gets rough, I’ll just come find you! Or someone else who is nice and helpful. And nope! I tend to go with the flow and endeavor to be of help. Thank you so much Wilson!” She reached out, gave him a hug, and then skipped off. To where was slightly debatable. It might have been the land of Ooo.
