Camelot was sitting on the roof of his library, which was a very selfish thought but it certainly did feel like it was his and no one elses. He was looking out over the city as he usually did at night, but this time he was not out to start a patrol.
He was looking for Pharos.
He had sent her a note, though it was an unfamiliar thing for him to do, asking if she wanted to come to the library and train a bit. He hoped she had gotten it, because he heard no word back. It was like texting, he was still unused to it and whenever he did send one he often sent three more asking if the first went through.
No one really liked texting with Tony, but he was learning. Nathan, his son, got the worst of it, but that was only because he never answered. His wife, at least, was more diligent.
In any case, he was hoping, at least, that even if she didn't get the note she was out on patrol and he might be able to track her down and meet up to help teach her a few things. The strength of the knights, of Order in general, was in their knowledge and sharing that knowledge with others. He was old enough in this war now to feel like he had things to pass on to the newer faces that appeared.
It was part of his duty to serve them, to aid them, and he was more than eager to do so. It was a lot better than going out and picking fights with Chaos soldiers he did not really want to fight, anyway. It felt more productive. Good.

Pharos was sure she had probably heard about the notes sometime, and she thought she had even recieved one recently from one of the other Chronos knights, but she was sure how it worked. So while she recieved Camelot's note, she couldn't respond to him and she was left to hope that he didn't take her non response as a no. Pharos needed training and if Camelot was going to offer it, she was happy to take it.
Pharos made her way to the library with a grin on her face. It was not the first time she had been to the building at knight and she had a feeling it would not be the last either. She looked up to the roof of the building not really thinking she could jump just that high, and sought of a smaller building to use as a stepping stool. It was simply enough and moments later she landed on the roof, letter in hand and looking around for Camelot.
Spotting him, she trotting over waving with a big grin on her face, "Hey Mister Camelot. I sorry I couldn't answer your letter. I didn't really know how."

Camelot felt her aura before he saw her, letting her make her way up to the roof before he grinned and bowed his head in greeting, then looked up at her again and seemed a bit surprised.
"Ah, I didn't realize that. Well, that's just something we'll have to work on. But first, I wanted to see what you wanted to learn about first, what you want to work on the most."
He smiled. He was her tutor, as it were, and he was prepared to help her train and prepare herself better to defend herself and simply know what she was in for. He had seen her in action and he knew she had the bravery, if not a bit too much of it, to aid her in tough situations.
She just needed the basic skills, and knowledge she could use to defend herself with.

Pharos grinned at the aspect of learning a bit more about being a knight from Camelot. She didn't know much outside of the fact the apparently a lot the dark senshi seemed to despise her for something beyond her control and dusting youma. For moment Pharos did not say anything at all, she had a million things running through her head and if one didnt stick soon she would be word barfing Camelot.
Her mind did come to an abrupt halt at her cloth flower which had her patting herself down in an attempt to find it before she realized she stuffed it in her shirt. She quickly pulled it up and held it out for Camelot to see although she knew he had seen it before.
"How exactly does this help me? It comes with a uniform, but I do not see how it is helpful, it couldnt even make someone sneeze? I don't know it just seems useless to me, not even magical." She sounded professional in her question at first, but her disappointment was obvious in the end.

Camelot was pretty sure he had a little to do with some of the hatred specific members of the Dark Mirror Court had towards knights. He had very bad luck with them, and his temper had not helped him at all.
Not at all.
"Well. Ah. Yes. That... that is just an item that... it is a weapon that will grow stronger as you do. When you become a Squire, and a Knight after that, you will gain the strength of magic and your flower will become something else. I started with a small, wooden circle and it became..."
He tapped on his shield.
"I know it is difficult now, but sometimes we have to learn how to use what's given to us until we can get something better. Something stronger. The strength is inside us, and through training and practice, and maybe a little... improvising... we make things work."
He frowned. Fighting with a flower would be more than a little difficult.
"Maybe a good distraction?" He offered a weak smile with his lame effort to help, chuckling. "We'll figure it out, I won't abandon you to it until you're ready."

Pharos nodded looking at the flower than looking to Camelot's shield, "so it will be better and it will be magical. That good to know because I don't like having to run from everything especially those crazy monsters ... er youma. They don't care that my weapon is totally useless right now. I've got a bunch of bruises, I don't think my mom will be to happy to see when I go home for the holidays."
She waved the flower making it do a little dance and gave a giggle, "at least it's pretty."
She looked up to Camelot and smiled, "its been a distraction before right? It sort of helped with the cat youma. So I guess it's not to bad." She gave Camelot a big hug grinning, "thanks for helping me. I'm glad there are knight like you running around at night," she laughed releasing him.
"Um what does your shield do and do you know how many knights there are and I really want to know how to send that letter like you did. I've got a lot to learn I guess."

Camelot nodded his head.
"It will. I do not use the magic in my shield that often, but it's there in case I need it, I guess." He laughed a bit, looking a little sheepish. He had used it maybe once. It reinforced his shield, and extended the area he was able to defend.
He smiled warmly, nodding his head.
"It is pretty. I wonder what it will look like and be when you become a squire. And a knight. I know you'll get there, it just takes a little time. And learning how to do your duties, whatever you decide for yourself, with your first stage item is a good way to build a solid foundation for your growth."
He did remember that it had effectively distracted the youma. He was distracted by thinking about it so her hug caught her off guard. He chuckled and hugged her in return.
"Ah, let's see. My sheild, to answer your questions in order, has magic enough to defend others. It keeps it solid, and it can make the shield itself seem larger if I need to. I also have a crystal, under that dragon emblem. The crystal uses a beam of light that can make an enemy feel pain. It doesn't do real, lasting damage, though."
He took a breath.
"I don't know just how many knights there are, but there are more and more, though we're still a small group in this war, overall. And your letters come from your signets," he showed her his hand, with his ring, "which you get by visiting the place your name is based on. I traveled to Camelot, and found mine. I can't tell you how to get back to yours, though, it's something that comes to you."

Camelot was informative and Pharos was very happy that he wanted to help her make it as a knight. She didn't want to be lost, no she wanted to be the very best knight there was. She wanted to be able to take out youma and help win the war.
"i understand. I have to grow some roots first like this flower would have to if it was real. Guess I found another thing its good for," she giggles," makes a good metaphor."
Pharos listened to Camelot talking about his sheild and really thought it was the coolest thing. She thought it would be cool if her weapon was able to protect other's, but she doubted it would get as big as Camelot's and she didn't want it to. She wouldn't even be able to carry it. "That really cool Mr Camelot ... er Cam. I hope my weapon does something as nice, but I guess that means maybe I should learn so actual king of fighting, huh?"
Pharos looked intently at the ring on Camelot's finger. "Its got a carving on it. It's really neat. I know how to get to Pharos. I've just never been there before. It's up on the surrounding. I will have to go find it. I want to have a cool ring like your and be able to write and send letter like instant."
"How long have you been doing this Cam? Running around at night, fighting youma's and saving the day." She gave a laugh because it made them sound like marvel superhero's or something.

Camelot laughed.
"That's a good point. So your first stage weapon is a metaphor. Maybe I'll use that on the next page I meet, if they're confused about who they are or how to fight with their item." He laughed again, heartily, and shook his head. He let out a sigh of amusement.
He was glad to hear that she at least knew how to get to her wonder. That was usually one of the hardest parts to try and teach.
"That's how it works! Your ring will be decorated in the style of your wonder. Mine, obviously, is Earth." Her question about how long he had been at it did not catch him as off guard as it might have, since someone else had asked him that recently as well.
"About a year and a half, I think. At last count, anyway. It sounds like less time than it really is, or maybe I've counted wrong. I mean. I feel like I've always been doing this, you know?"

Pharos grinned happy to be helpful in the whole endeavor of helping other pages. Their weapons were metaphors in there first stage, but they would get better and serve them better. It made Pharos relax a bit more.
She looked briefly to the the ring again seeing the design and nodded. "I'll go to Pharos as soon as possible and look for it. I promise," she stated once more as if to confirm that she really would go. She needed the ring to write the letter anyway, it would be easier to answer Camelot about training that way.
Pharos frowned slightly realizing, that Camelot had been a knight about half a year longer than her and yet she still knew next to nothing and he knew so much. She had a lot to adjust to coming back from the surrounding and then she spent the summer with her mother, so she had not been the most active of knights.
"No not really, I don't think, but I guess I do feel like I was meant to do this. I mean I disappeared up to space and find out I am a knight of chronos. I always believed on magic, so it just feels right."
She grinned, "I want to be a good knight Cam. I wish I didn't have so much homework. That would make things a lot easier!"

The older knight felt her promise would be well lived up to, and had no reason not to trust her. Of course, he had no reason to expect her to go and find her ring, either, because he felt one's wonder was a personal experience. She could go at her own pace.
But it was good for her to learn.
"I'm glad you can feel that way. Some people don't. I feel like I was meant to be a knight, somehow. I've always felt a connection to Arthurian legend. I guess now I know why." He laughed at that. He had a collection of books that were all about Camelot and other legends, and he'd always suffered a bit of a white knight syndrome.
Now it just made sense.
"You are a good knight. I know school probably does complicate things, but with the dedication and resolve I see in you already I am sure you'll be able to balance things."

Pharos giggled, "I don't think I can say I've ever felt any sort of connection to lighthouse, but my mom use to read me all sorts of folk lure, fairy tales, and old history. Being a knight, sort of feels like embracing that. It's like mom knew, somehow."
She yawned slightly feeling sleepy, but still very excited about the lesson she was having with Camelot. She did wonder briefly how much time went by before plowing right onto the next topic.
"Thanks Camelot. That makes me feel really great about all this. Like I'm doing the right thing. Speaking of which a girl attacked me for no reason and was pretty insistance on making sure I fought her. She hates knight because of the surrounding incident, but I don't really see a fault for that. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems really silly to still be so angry about it, when it didn't seem like anyone had any real control over what was going on. I don't know. I understand being angry about being in all of this, but life goes on. Right?"

Camelot smiled and nodded his head. It was a nice sentiment, anyway, to feel like there was something more to this whole business of being a knight. Like it was always a part of them, just sleeping, and didn't pop up as randomly as it sometimes felt.
It would be interesting to ask others if they had similar stories, though Camelot doubted he would ever find the time for something as leisurely as that. He could talk to Kyndall about it, at least.
"I would tend to agree with you, but then, I wasn't one of the ones that had gotten taken up there against their will. I wasn't a civilian at the time, so it's hard for me to understand why some are still so upset about it, and just what the senshi and knights are being blamed for. We all did our best to protect as many people as we could. Chaos, I think, blinds some people to that and lets the dwell in darkness and hatred."

Pharos nodded, look of contemplation, followed by one of realization crossing her face. "I hadn't thought of it that way. Its was weird to me how they aren't blaming chaos who wreaked havoc while we were up there. I mean I can't totally blame them either because as far as we know they didn't put us there, but they didn't try to make it easier. It was a very complicated situation and I just tried to make the best of it. I don't really blame anyone. Magic can be unpredictable."
Pharos yawned again and knew she had to call it a knight least she fall asleep in the middle of there conversation. "Well Cam, thanks very much for the lesson, but I think I ought to head home and rest up. I've a lot of homework to tomorrow and grocery shopping. I don't like grocery shopping, I'm terrible at it."
"I'll send you a note as soon as I get my ring and then I can tell you all about Pharos."

Camelot nodded his head and chuckled. It was always encouraging to see young knights taking charge of their situation, and rising to the difficult tasks set before them by some unseen force that decided they were meant to be special. It was overwhelming, and very difficult to understand sometimes.
But people like Pharos always reminded him that though they were young, and he called them kids, they were capable and determined. It gave them strength, and fortified a deeply rooted idea of hope that lived inside Camelot, and most other living things, but simple got buried.
It was a strange time to be thinking about it, but Camelot couldn't help himself.
"I'm looking forward to hearing about it. Stay safe and well rested, Pharos, and let me know if you need any help. Or if you just want to... hang out."
Because he, a forty year old man, was fantastic at hanging out. Definitely a lot of fun and not a stick in the mud that really just meant patrolling or training and had phrased it poorly. Nope.
