Name:Juliet Tiblon
Age:24
Magic Affinity: Healing - enables Juliet to channel positive energy to wipe away injury and afflictions. It does not immediately end but will take the course of an hour or two for any of the following adverse conditions affecting the Target: blinded, confused, dazed, deafened, diseased, exhausted, fatigued, nauseated, sickened, stunned, and poisoned. She must be able to physically touch the patient in order to ease the suffering until it is gone.

Downside to the skill is while the patient suffers so does Juliet, though she only feels half the pain of the person she is trying to cure. She does feel it until the person has been cured. Because of this Juliet can not stand more than one or two patients a day to start.
Appearance:
Her skin is Pale almost sheet white in color. Bright emerald green eyes and dark blond hair. Freckles dust a line across her face. Her hair is waist length and often kept in two tight braids. When her hair isn't braided back for convenience, Juliet's hair has a simple wave in it. She favors a sweater like top where the neck is open and hangs off both shoulders, her sleeves end at her wrists while the end of her shirt reaches her wrists while standing. Blue ribbons keep her braids held together and dark blue pants with black boots cover her bottom half. Around her neck is a thin chain with a locket on the end.

Juliet prefers Dark colors pants preferably with several pockets on each leg. Skirts have always driven her completely crazy as such she protests the need to wear skirts or dresses except very formal occasions after some grunting and groaning she will eventually put them on. Juliet stands at 5'2'' and weighs 120 pounds. She isn't the slimmest girl but she isn't chunky either. On her left shoulder and left inner ankle Juliet has a large scar a mix of both pink and white in nature. On the front right side of her stomach is another scar that never quite healed over. Because of this Juliet is only comfortable with the scar on her shoulder because it isn't often brought to her attention and will often wear clothing to cover the other two scars. She will never wear pants any shorter than her ankles and shirts will always reach at or below her waist.

Personality:
Juliet is always worried about one thing or another. She's extremely focused on her ability to complete things, because she doesn't want to disappoint her family or teachers. She's constantly hyper-aware of how she appears to people and how she behaves around others. She often goes about life with an expression on her face as if she were crying or near tears, which gives people the impression that she is frail and vulnerable and possibly unstable. Though she is unaware this is the facial expression she give people.

While Juliet does poorly in large crowds she is more sociable in private settings. One on one or in small groups it is easier for her to express herself in a careful and well thought manner. She offers well thought out opinions in each conversation and will dispense advice and even gentle criticisms if she feels like she can do so without being judged. She is drawn towards those who easily offer friendship without demanding too much in return, people with enough forwardness to approach her in search of camaraderie and yet patience enough to not rush Juliet into opening up to them. Although this sometimes gets her left out of things, it also helps her learn and pick up information rapidly, and she rarely dives headfirst into something she can’t handle. In a sense, her being quiet is as much a careful decision as it is a natural tendency.

Deep down Juliet is insecure with the world around her and in herself. Everything said to her is taken to heart, intent on being a better person, a better worker, a better anything. She feels she isn't fit for the life she lives, let along companionship from others. Hurtful words are often taken much easier than words of compliments or praise. She strives to be important in a way that doesn't cause her to stand out.

This allows her to form her own Judgements, instead of listening to the random chatter and gossip around her. Nothing in her world is black or white but shades of grey and there are always more sides to a fight than one. Because of this people often find her easier to approach but quickly grow frustrated when she refuses to join a side in what she considers petty battles. Juliet takes all her commitments very seriously. She was taught to always keep her word and is exceedingly careful to only give her word when she is certain she can do so without fail. Just because She is quiet doesn't mean Juliet is unintelligent, she's actually quite the opposite and is a shining example of the phrase 'quiet people are often smarter'.

Juliet is a kind yet emotional soul. She cares deeply for others and tries to be in-tune with others emotions and thoughts. When a problem is brought to her, she tries to put herself into their shoes and gives advice based on things she knows rather than her own opinions. To help solve the problem they are facing or give them some relief from their pain. Juliet also follows instructions very closely and has a great attention to detail.

Juliet has several hobbies from collecting flowers to swimming in available water. She finds these tasks as a great way to escape both the days events and her own over active mind and the things she worries about constantly. Without the ability to swim or collect flowers, Juliet fears she may find herself driven into insanity.

She hopes one day to break free of the confined shell she often finds herself in, hoping to find the ability to make new friends and be heard on a larger scale. She has a great passion for learning and though she may not be a scholar she believes you can never have enough information. She carries a lot of hope in herself and hope for others, even if she can't put that hope towards everything.

Juliet isn't sure what to think on her family, she loves her mother and yet has a hard deep hatred for her leaving Juliet conflicted with emotions on the best of days. She adores her father even though he was gone most of her life leaving her to envision what he would have been like almost to the point of creating a hero out of him. Her older brother is loved and revered as he did his best to protect her from anything she deemed dangerous however has disdain for the way she was treated as a child. Juliet has little tolerance for her younger sister as she was constantly putting all the blame for her actions on Juliet. It had taken her a while to realize that it must have been jealousy that resulted in her sisters resentment. She isn't sure yet how to feel about her younger brother as he is still an infant.

Bad - Insecure, worry wart, Emotional, Takes things to personal
Good - Hard worker, Caring, easy to approach, Hopeful

History:
Juliet was the second born in her family, and being the first girl she was every bit her mothers wish. For the first fifteen months of her life Juliet enjoyed a happy infant to toddler life, she was pampered and adored. Prized and shared as any mother would. Then things changed, Juliet's mother quickly grew ill and since her father worked to support the family as best he could there was little time or energy left to taking care of Juliet's mental needs though her physical needs were met. Her older brother wasn't even old enough too attend school yet so couldn't be expected to watch over her and their mother had demanded. It was during this time Juliet had fallen off the dinner table she had been climbing on, and as a result had injured her ankle shoulder and had landed on something causing bleeding to her stomach. She was quickly healed from the accident however scars still remain evident on her skin.

When Juliet's mother got better whatever had made her sick left a thick trace on her, she was never the same after that. Worried that she would loose her daughters love if she didn't keep her close as much as possible she started locking her up in her room when she wasn't in school. At the age of five Juliet started manifesting magic leading to even more pride in her mother and an even greater need to keep her close. That didn't stop Juliet from being enrolled in the academy by her father, and Juliet was eager to share the events of the day.

Soon her mother stopped wanting to hear how much fun Juliet was having without her and shutting her up in her room became a more frequent event. Juliet was never allowed to spend time outside of school with the friends she had made and eventually being misunderstood, started loosing her friends.

At the age of seven Juliet grew very ill and though she struggled to push her body beyond it's limitations to please everyone including her mother. This left the already very shut in girl even more shut in than before and Juliet started to form an almost reclusive nature. Once her sister was old enough to walk and talk, eventually things started to turn for the worse. Events and stolen items were blamed on Juliet, causing a large rift between the two sisters. A few more months passed before Juliet's mother worsened and illness returned.

Before her mother was taken to be treated and healed, she had given Juliet a small stock of bamboo. Her mother has yet to return home. School went normally after that, though she found it hard to make friends and keep them Juliet found herself more interested in her studies than in the people around her. It was easier for her to learn from her classes, than it was to learn how to interact with people who were always different.

Along the way in School Juliet eventually picked the path of 'Mender' as she personally called it though it was more commonly under the healing affinity. She excelled in her classes as a student as long as it didn't require large amounts of interaction with the other students as a whole. She did well with one on one requirements and worked hard to support her peers when she could. All the while caring for and nurturing the bamboo plant her mother had given her.

On her seventeenth year Juliet was astounded when she was given her medal and ceremony clothes. For years she had been dreaming of the day she would offer up her bamboo to the tree, having secretly picked that path due to her great love of both her mother and the bond she had formed with the bamboo plant. The ceremony was a nervous time for Juliet, as she constantly fretted about doing the wrong thing and forever messing up in a way that would affect her forever.

When the bamboo had been offered and the giant panda crawled out nothing could have made the young woman happier than to be with the new guardian. Her family had not been invited to the ritual as Juliet had deemed it to personal to involve them.

The bond between Juliet and Haumea grew quickly over the first awkward weeks as the guardian slowly began to develop her own personality. Juliet began to lean on the giant panda as an emotional support system and from there they grew close and inseparable.

GUARDIAN
Name:Haumea
Magic Affinity: Dreams - This allows Mea to place the person under a light form of anesthesia only lasting at most 30 minutes and can be used no more than four times a day to start. Before Mea becomes to weak to carry on and physically would be unable to move if the panda were to try beyond this point.
Essence/Animal:Bamboo/Panda
Appearance: Haumea appeared as close to a Giant Panda as possible with differences here and there. Bamboo twists around all four ankles and up the legs ending at the knees. There are twists that also form around Mea's head like a crown and around the neck like a necklace. A leafy pouch hangs off the neck like bamboo where Juliet is capable of storing food.

The human form Mea takes on is much like the story of the young shepherdess who watched over a panda cub until she was killed by a leopard. Snow white skin, and dark black hair with white streaks. The clothes she prefers to wear are loose and kimono like. Her hair is often tied up in a bun with the same ribbon Juliet uses to hold back her hair. (see number 153 )
Personality:
Mea is a Guardian who wants to love everyone all the time. It is an extremely affectionate, caring Panda and will be one of the first on the scene of any accident, with or without her User. She has never come across a person she didn’t like…or at least a person she didn’t want to support in their time of need. She doesn’t remember all names, but she makes a point to know those she helps Juliet tend. She wants everyone to know she’s there for them and that they’re gonna be all right, and the god's help anyone who stops Haumea from making sure everything’s okay. Okay, well...she won't be upset, but she'll lecture them...or at least talk urgently at them until they get out of her way.

She has a major weakness for newborns and will attempt to check on them (with or without permission), and she will make absolutely certain to be somewhere where she can watch the children playing. She fusses over anything vaguely hurt, and will walk straight up to anyone, offering words of encouragement or affection.

Mea loves her User with the same intensity that she loves other guardians, and then some, and can only be parted from Juliet for a short time before she decides to crash whatever Juliet’s doing and come visit her. She has a surprisingly witty sense of humour when bantering with Juliet and is a very physical sort, particularly when she plays. She still goofs around like a cub sometimes and is not above knocking her User over if they’re in the middle of a vigorous game.

Bear Mythology and Folklore

Bear mythology exists in many cultures.

In China the giant panda is seen as a “national treasure”. The Chinese government has even given pandas as gifts to other countries governments! One Tibetan legend of the giant panda is about how they got their beautiful, and unusual black markings. A long time ago, when pandas lived in the mountains of Tibet, they were white as snow. They were friends with four female shepherds that watched their flocks, in the mountains near their village. One day as the shepherdesses where playing with a panda cub, a leopard leapt out of the bush and tried to attack the cub. The young shepherdesses threw themselves in front of the cub to save it and were killed by the leopard. All the pandas in the area were saddened by their deaths and held a memorial service to honor them and their bravery. To remember their sacrifice for the cub, the pandas all wore black ashes on their arms (as was the local custom). As they wept for the shepherdesses, they wiped their eyes with their paws, they covered their ears to block out the sound of the crying and they hugged each other in grief. As they did these things the ash spread and blackened their fur. The pandas did not wash the black off their fur as a way to remember the girls. To this day, pandas are covered with the black markings to always remember.

Bears are very important and respected First Nations and Native American cultures as well. In many stories humans are transformed into bears or are disguised as bears. They are also known as the keepers of dreams (likely because they hibernate) and the keepers of medicine.

Bamboo's long life makes it a Chinese symbol of longevity, while in India it is a symbol of friendship. In Japan, bamboo forests often surround Shinto shrines as a sacred protection against evil spirits. In Vietnam, bamboo is a symbol for the soul and often represents ideas of hard-working, optimism, unity and adaptability. Vietnamese culture is sometimes referred to as "bamboo culture." A Vietnamese proverb states, "When bamboo is old, the bamboo sprouts appear," the meaning being that Vietnam will never be annihilated--if the previous generation dies, the children will take their place.

Several Asian culture believe that humanity emerged from a bamboo stem. In the Philippine creation myth, legend states that the first man and first woman were split open from a bamboo stem that emerged on an island created after the battle of the elemental forces. In Malaysian legends a similar story includes a man who dreams of a beautiful woman while sleeping under a bamboo plant; he wakes up and breaks the bamboo stem, discovering the woman inside. The Japanese folktale "Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" (Taketori Monogatari) tells the story of a princess from the Moon emerging from a section of shining bamboo. In Hawaiian legend, bamboo is considered the corporal form of the Polynesian creator god, Kane Milohai.

STAFF CRITIQUE
READY OR NOT, HERE IT IS!

User Image

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX NAME
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYou’ve changed it a few times, we’d prefer you keep it to this one now that you’ve submitted it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX MAGIC
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYou can’t just say “healing magic” unfortunately. Yes, we know your character has a healing affinity, now how
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXdoes that manifest? There is a broad range of abilities and ways that each affinity works and we need to know
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhow it does for your character, and what your character’s drawback are. What limitations their magic has, that
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXkind of thing.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYour Guardian’s magic is automatically declined. Not only does it not work in this setting, but it’s also remarkably
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXover powered. This must be changed and explained just like your user’s magic must be. Enhanced physical
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXfeatures, such as strength, agility, or anything of the sort isn’t viable, to cut off line of thinking.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ESSENCE
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX“Ash” cannot be your essence. It must be the actual stalk of bamboo if you wish to continue using it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX APPEARANCE
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOnce again, due to ash not being a valid essence, your guardian won’t be covered in it. There is also the fact that
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXGuardians are born fully grown and formed, it wouldn’t take the form of a cub. As a semi-custom you only have
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcontrol of a few key elements of their appearance, so we would appreciate you Guardian’s appearance being rewritten
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXto reflect this. It’s alright to describe her outright on the off chance you apply for a custom, but we would like to see
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwhat the key design elements you want to keep are.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYour User’s appearance needs a rewrite. “Freckles adorn her cheeks and nose as if the gods themselves had taken
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXa paintbrush and dusted a line across her face.” This is not a description we will allow. It’s just making it seem like an
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXovertly perfect character. No one is that perfect or pretty. We would also like to know the style of clothing she wears if
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXit’s important. You’ve only given us a sweater, how she styles her hair, and that she wears a locket. How tall is she?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXWhat build is she? Does she prefer pants or skirts? This description doesn’t give us much at all in the way of visuals.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX PERSONALITY
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXWhy does Juliet have a “apparently emotionless” outer shell when she’s so open and friendly to her friends? Is she afraid
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof people, or does she have anxieties? We want to know why she seems to think that hiding her emotions from strangers
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXis a thing she has to do. She seems to make friends easily and willingly, but why is that when she puts up this outer facade?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXIt seems like an unnecessary addition.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXShe also needs real, honest flaws. “Being clumsy” isn’t a personal flaw, especially when it just shows as dropping a couple
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthings here and there. Everyone drops things. When she can easily move through a crowd holding books, why would anyone
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcall her clumsy? It would make more sense if she were completely uncoordinated and unbalanced. I’m also not sure why you
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXincluded her collecting flowers and fungi when it seems like an offhand thing. Is it a compulsion? Does she honestly need to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXcollect these things to function or is it just a quirky hobby she has like some people collecting stamp? The same can be said
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXabout mentioning her love of swimming. Does it honestly shape her as a person or is it just a hobby?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAll in all we aren’t getting much of a feel for her character. We’d like to really know what shapes her as a person, her strengths,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXher actual faults and weaknesses, etc.etc.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYour Guardian’s personality section is just very short and disjointed. We know she’s playful, open, a hard worker despite that,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXand easily disappointed when she doesn’t do her best. I’d like to know more. Expand on these ideas. I’d also like to know why
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXshe seems to like to hurry through everything when you said right before that she’s a devoted and hard worker. This contradicts
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXitself and should either be removed or expanded on to better work it into her personality as a whole.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX HISTORY
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXFirst of all, I want to know why she seemed to have been stunted in her growth. Was she a sickly child? Does she have a
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXnatural defect? A child isn’t naturally going to “not age” for no particular reason. She could definitely have been smaller for her
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXage, especially if she was born premature, but younger, not so much. Being premature or sickly could also explain her mother’s
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXover protectiveness. A doctor isn’t going to just take a child from their loving mother because the kid’s a little small. Especially
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXin Mistwick, a safe-haven for nearly everything.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAs a User she would be put in the Academy, yes, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t still see her family if you believed this is
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXhow it worked. She’s not “given to her own kind,” she’s just put in the school at the Citadel. I also think you mean “mentor” not
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX“mender.” Unless it’s a name only she uses, it’s not a term used for healers or those with the healing affinity. I can understand
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXher excelling in her classes, but not being the strongest means that she wouldn’t be put in the Elite, which wouldn’t have been
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXallowed regardless, we allow for our members to have successful characters yes, but top-tier are always going to be off limits
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXincase we need to bring NPCs in to fill those positions. She would also have chosen a homunculi on her own, it’s not something
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXthey choose for you unless you’re part of a longer family line.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAssessment isn’t about impressing the Seers personally, and I’m unsure if you misunderstood that or if it was just a poor choice
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXof wording. I’ve already addressed the fact that you cannot use ash and that your Guardian is born fully formed. Regardless of if
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXshe was very attached to the bamboo plant she’d been growing, she would still need an actual piece of it for it to register at the tree.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAs for their life after they were partnered, I would suggest rethinking or rewriting it, as Haumea cannot have super strength and they
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXwouldn’t put a medic (someone with straight healing magic) on protection duty for high ranking officials. There also isn’t much need
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXto transport these individuals anywhere, they live on the large island and probably live where they work, most often being able to
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXprotect themselves actually, if I’m being honest with our current crop of NPCS.

Unfortunately the staff cannot give you those when it comes to staff crit.
We've gone indepth and told you what needs changing, what we need from those sections, and asked you questions in an attempt to steer you in the correct direction.

We cannot write your character for you, so this is the best we can do.
