i'd never hurt you arsenic & locust USER Name: Charlotte White Age: 19 Magic Affinity: Extraction / Charlotte's magic allows her to extract numerous maladies of the body. She applies this mainly through venipuncture, inserting needles to certain areas where the malformity is closest, and letting it "leak out." The extraction process liquidates anything from diseases and illnesses to wounds and infections. Her magic can only work on things that affect the body physically, not mentally, and her current degree of control over her magic will only allow her to extract moderate wounds and minor illnesses completely. The liquidated maladies can also serve as poisons that instantly inflicts what was taken. Appearance: Charlotte has naturally white eyes and hair that make her look a ghost in combination with her pale skin, which she dusts with powder to look even more ghastly. Such practices and traits are common among the more prestigious members of House White, from which she hails as Head Lady. What's strange of her, however, is her tendency to wear compulsive amounts of white, against the White practice of wearing darker colors. On a usual day, the most color you might see out of Charlotte are the shades of gray around her eyes, applied through either make-up or her own negligence for sleep, or an earthly tone of brown or navy from her heavier, for-the-cold wardrobe. Personality: (+) calm, assuring, unassuming / (-) codependent, impassive, pressing History: Charlotte is a daughter of a minor ward who preceded over the small town of Wicker, nearer to the center of Mistwick but far, far away from the Forge. She was given proper and private tutelage by those scholars that happened upon her village, which garnered just enough activity from being near a trade route, and at 6 years old was sent off to another minor house to serve as a page under Lord Taube.

ARSENIC Arsenic has a strange role in history: it has been used for both murder, medicine, and make-up for centuries. Coined as the "king of poisons" and back in the European Medieval and Renaissance eras, it was famous for killing many kings, princes, and cardinals during numerous political oustings. It was later cited as the "inheritence killer" because so many members of powerful families used it to kill supposed heirs.
Meanwhile, arsenic has been used remedially for hundreds of years, several eras before it was titled king of poisons. Ancient China was famous for using arsenic in many of its remedies for thousands of years, and famous Eastern alchemists cited arsenic as a recipe in the elixir of life. Arsenic was also widely used between the 17th through 19th century in patent (fake) medicines, tonics, and stimulants, including "remedies" for cancer and syphilis.
At the start of the Elizabethan era, women also used arsenic power as make-up to lighten their complexion, and the practice continued for centuries, though it led to many poisonings and deaths. Arsenic poisoning was preferred by enemies and hard to define by victims due to its vast similiarities with cholera.
In modern day, arsenic continues to be used in many pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides, thogh it is still incredibly toxic to a vast majority of toxic organisms. Arsenic comes in many colors: metallic grey, black, and yellow, though grey is the most abundant of the bunch. Arsenic oxide, or white arsenic, is also most popularly used in toxins.
LOCUST - part of grasshopper species - locust swarms breed rapidly under most conditions - incredibly migratory - swarms are called 'plagues' because they eat anything and travel at lightspeed and can lead to empty crop fields - plagues of locusts appear in bible + qu'ran, most notably the plagues of egypt
SEKHMET - sekhmet known as 'lady of pestilence' and 'red lady' - "powerful one", "one before whom evil trembles," "mistress of dread," "lady of slaughter," "she who mauls" - placated by destruction and violence or she would destroy mankind - could send plague to anyone/place she resented
