The afternoon was still pretty warmish, with just a slight n** to the air to merit a sweater tossed over his school uniform top as Arian walked back from the store. It seemed the big storm of a few days back had washed the last of the summer weather away leaving behind signs of autumn in the small clusters of red, yellow and the odd green leaves lying here and there. There was a doubled up carrier bag of groceries clutched in the dark-haired teen’s left hand and in the right, leaflet with details of a jewellery competition – Arian had stopped by the Garden first and the Halloween-theme jewellery-making contest had caught his eye. Although currently heading for the home, the dark-haired teen wasn’t in any particular hurry – it was a pleasant afternoon after all and there wasn’t as if there was anything meltable in the bag. Yayoi sorry for the crappy title

Vythica had spent most of her afternoon at one of the day girl's houses studying. At least, studying at much as teenage girls could anyway. It went more like eat snacks, gossip, sing karaoke, eat more snacks gossip more, realize it was getting late and they hadn't really studied at all. She was so screwed on that test tomorrow. Augh, whatever. Its not like it was the end all be all of tests. She could probably redo the test anyway so there really wasn't anything to worry about. Except a scolding from the teacher for such bad marks. Really, why did they need to take tests anyways. They only made people nervous and teachers grumpy when their students didn't seem to be getting their material. Vyth could most certainly do without tests. She wasn't dumb, no, not in the least. Nor was she the brainy type. Still. Letting out a heavy sigh, she walked along the sidewalk with her nose stuck in her Physics book. Brow furrowed and nose slightly wrinkled. Her black fur lined jacket pulled closed over her Crystal Academy school uniform. Still trying to grind some knowledge into her brain, she didn't want to spend the rest of the night trying to understand it. Vyth had more important things to do honestly than worry about thermodynamics or bodies in motion. Though Sir Isaac Newton was one deadly son of a b***h for sure.

Busy letting his thoughts drift on whether (a) he wanted to enter the Garden’s Halloween contest and (b) whether he would have the time to make up something by the two weeks from now deadline, Arian’s attention was more on whether he wanted to pass up a chance at a month’s supply of free beads and as such it meant that the dark-haired teen wasn’t paying as much attention as he should to his surroundings. They say all it takes is a moment’s inattention. As it was the dark-haired teen’s lack of attention caused him to almost collide with a grey-haired girl wearing a fur-lined jacket over a Crystal Academy uniform. “I’m sorry Miss” Arian’s quiet voice was apologetic. “Are you all right?”

Well, it was partially Vyth's fault as well. If she had also been paying attention perhaps she would have seen the dark haired boy walking towards her. And maybe she would of been able to tell that he wasn't moving around her but moving right into her. In surprise she dropped her book, trying to catch it but that only created a comical scene of her flipping the book over end a few times before it thudded against the sidewalk. Scattering a few fallen leaves into the air. Perhaps she would have been mad if it hadn't been somewhat her fault. And if an apology hadn't come as quickly afterwards. Bending down, she picked her book up and gave it a good brush off. "Yea I'm ok." Once she stood again, she gave her cohort in collision a smile. Red lips parting just slightly. "Don't worry about it. I wasn't looking where I was going anyhow. You ok?" She eyeballed the bag he was carrying. "Didn't loose anything from your bad did you?"

“That’s good” Arian said quietly after the girl confirmed that she was all right. He shook his head at her question about the groceries “Ah no, I managed to hang onto everything in there.” It was perhaps a good thing that in addition to nothing meltable, there was nothing breakable in the bag – like eggs. “Actually I think I…” his voice trailed off as he realised that he was no longer holding the leaflet with the Garden’s Halloween competition details, realising he must have dropped it in the near collision. “I think I may have lost my leaflet.” He looked down at the side walk, hoping to catch a glimpse of white paper.

She was relieved that everything in his bag seemed to be ok. Vyth would have felt a bit awful if not. Of course, then she would have offered to replace the stuff in his bag. "That is a relief."When he spoke of a leaflet, she took looked down onto the sidewalk. Eyes scanning the pavement and leaf piles nearby for his lost piece of paper. It wasn't until she had casually ran her hand over her book that she felt something stuck to it. "Huh?" Turning it over, there was a piece of paper stuck to her book. Talking about some sort of competition. "Is this it?" Vyth removed the paper as carefully as she could holding it up for him to see, how odd that it had gotten stuck like that. There must have been something on her book. Probably some sort of sticky sweet stuff from the treats her and her friend had been enjoying earlier.

Arian nodded relieved as the girl held up a rather familiar piece of paper. “Yes that’s it” he said quietly. Although the piece of paper looked slightly the worse for wear and the dark-haired teen wasn’t sure how it had managed to get itself stuck to the girl’s book, the competition information itself looked readable enough. He smiled at the girl “Thank you – you’ve saved me a trip back to the Garden to pick up another leaflet.” It wasn't something that had really appealed – not with the relatively heavy carrier bag he was toting.

Vyth gave the leaflet a quick look over before she handed it to him. "Jewelry making contest hm? Do you make jewelry or is it for some lovely lady in your life?" She hugged her book to her chest, brushing a bit of hair over her shoulder so that it wouldn't get caught between her chest and the book. And hopefully not get whatever sticky stuff was roaming around on her book. Hair plus sticky stuff did not mix.

Tucking the leaflet into the carrier bag for safekeeping, Arian shook his head at the girl’s mention of a lovely lady “Ah no the leaflet’s for me, I spotted it when I was passing the Garden, um I mean the Beaded Garden bead shop earlier today” and by passing he kind of meant made a deliberate trip there to look through their beads. “I thought it might be fun to enter if I can think up something decent to make. Do you by chance make jewellery too?” It belatedly occurred to Arian that they had been making conversation and he hadn’t even introduced himself, something he made to rectify by adding “I’m Arian by the way, Arian Laith.”

She had heard of the shop, passed by it actually a few times when hoofing it around the city, but never really ventured inside. "Ah no I don't. But thinking about it now it sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I do knit though." It wasn't the same as making jewelry of course, but well at least she could say she was somewhat crafty. Somewhat being a stretch. Vyth had a whole drawer full of knitted things. This guy if he was into making jewelry as much as she was into knitting might have a drawer full of things he's made. "Vythica van Dread. Though most people just call me Vyth. Its nice to meet you Arian." A bright smile came to her ruby red lips.

Arian nodded “Pleased to meet you as well Vythica, or would you prefer Vyth” although Vyth had mentioned that people tended to call her Vyth, Arian didn’t want to assume that it would be okay for him to do the same. “Knitting sounds pretty neat as a hobby” he smiled before adding “I used to buy smoothie drinks in the autumn back when I lived in the UK because they used to put little knitted hats on the bottle caps. I can’t knit for beans myself though.” Not that he’d tried or anything.
His smile turned rueful “I guess I should be heading home, I think some of the stuff in the bag is supposed to be part of today’s dinner.” As it was his cousin was probably wondering where he’d gotten to.

Chuckling, she waved her hand. "Vyth please. And it is! I used to do knitting with my great grandmother all the time. Did you just pick up jewelry making or did someone teach you?"Tilting her head, she frowned lightly. "Well I could walk you to your house if you want." It was perhaps an odd offer but she didn't mind if it was a little out of her way. Vyth really had no where to be at the moment and this guy seemed kind of interesting. Plus his hair was kind of amazing too.

“I wouldn’t mind the company” Arian admitted at Vyth’s offer. “But only if it’s not out of your way.” The dark-haired teen didn’t want to put her through any trouble on his part. “And I first started making jewellery back at school” he smiled ruefully. “Well at least we used to make beads out of fimo and string them. But I guess you could say that I first got interested in beads because of my Nain” His smile faded. “She always had strings of beads and didn’t mind if I played with them.” Nain used to tell him stories about where she’d picked up the beads, Arian could remember afternoons where he’d listened to her stories over tea and bakestones for her with the tea substituted for milk for him. He shook his head slightly changing the subject, “I don’t live that far from Meadowview.” It took him about twenty minutes or so to make the walk to school each day.

Vyth honestly didn't mind if his house was a little out of the way. It certainly wasn't on her normal path back to the dorms. "It's cool, lets go." She waited for him to lead on. Not like she really had anything she needed to get getting to right away anyhow. "Aww, that sounds nice." She enjoyed hearing about how others inspired young people to do things. It felt like it gave her a connection to them because of her own experience with it. Tilting her head slightly. "Meadowview hm?" That was the school Gabe and Esme went to. "I've heard about the school and have a few friends that go there. Is it nice?"

Arian nodded as he started the walk back home, walking at an average pace towards the set of apartments where his cousin’s apartment was located “Meadowview’s okay,” it had been weird settling into a new school at first, especially one that had been bigger than his previous school, but with a year having passed the dark-haired teen had gotten used to it. “I wish the uniform was nicer though” he wrinkled his nose slightly “We didn’t have to wear shorts at my previous school” or a sailor-suit style top. “Then again I only have one year left to go then I won’t have to wear it again.” He gave Vyth a curious look “What’s it like at Crystal Academy. The only thing I know about boarding schools comes from some of the books I’ve read when I was younger and those were full of tuck shop and endless midnight picnic parties.” Somehow Arian had the feeling that the reality was most likely very different – after those self-same stories had also had some of the kids travelling to fairy tale worlds in a flying rocking chair.
