 The saddle marked male was relaxing after a long and trying hunt. It had been a difficult few days as string of bad luck and innocent accidents had ruined his attempts at hunting. First had been that damn buzzard that had refused to quit following him, alerting his prey to his location. Then came the hunt that had been interrupted by someone else's charge, causing the one Kai had singled out to bolt long before he got into range... Then a pair of exploring cubs had spooked his next victims while he was still stalking them and today a freak storm had sent the whole herd galloping wildly over the horizon. Kai had finally given up his attempts, deciding to wait till the next morning before going to a whole other area in the pridelands and trying again. But in the mean time, his belly rumbled irritably, reminding him of his failings.
Puffing out an amused and resigned sigh, the brown male flopped himself bodily over onto the large rock to sun himself, trying to ignore the hollow sensation in his stomach.

Tekacha'moyo was too busy to hunt today. She was too busy to even be hungry. No, the little lioness was spending her afternoon fretting at herself instead. Separating from Kanzi had seemed like a good idea when she'd done it, but now that some time had passed, she wasn't as sure as she had been. She just wasn't used to be alone anymore, and it was much harder than she'd thought it would be. A part of her was missing her ex-mate, and that part of her was really...really frustrating! It allowed doubt in, and led her to wonder if she'd been right to leave him.
Thinking herself in circles and utterly miserable about it, Tek shuffled along in no particular direction, eyes focused down on the ground rather than on her surroundings.

The problem with sunbathing was that it was basically alot of doing not very much at all.. which left his mind plenty of time to ponder the feeling his very empty stomach gave him. Finally with another huff he pulled himself to his paws and sat up atop the rock, rather at a loss as to what to do. Just at that moment he spotted a rather depressed and worried looking female wandering past just a short distance from where he sat.
A female wandering alone was hardly news, but this one seemed really rather upset over something and, since Kai had nothing occupying him right at that very moment, he rather felt obliged to go over and offer his assistance in case he might be able to help her.
Padding through the dry grass he cleared his throat before he got too close, not wanting to startle her if she hadn't noticed his presence. "Hello there... are you alright?" he asked, his tone the usual warm friendly one he most often possessed, not being the type of lion to get easily upset or angry.
