What seemed like hours later, she finally awoke, and turned her head. Beside her, was a little homemade card. It looked like a scareling had made it for her. Picking it up, she realized it was a get well card! How sweet! It had to have been from Kettil, since she assumed no other student knew about her injuries. She sat up to read it.

Colorful and uneven, the card had an innocence and charm that made Selene let out a long awwwwwwwww. She opened up the card, expecting to see similar writings.

The colors were gone. The scareling innocence remained. Still, the figure in the crude little drawing was clearly not meant to be Kettil. In fact, she knew exactly who it was meant to be. His name was written all over the card, like stamps, claiming his territory. Selene's heartbeat quickened, and she put down the card, swiveling her head left and right.
A sudden realization had dawned on her. The card hadn't been here when she arrived and fell asleep. Hadn't she closed that door..?
"Hello?" Her tiny, trembling voice squeaked out. "Isssss.. anybody there?" The slither in her voice was uncontrollable. She looked everywhere, staring at every corner, every shadow, until she felt safe enough to take a breath, and close the card.

Selene froze in place. The paper fluttered out of her hand, settling on the bed. She'd stopped breathing, and she had to muster every ounce of bravery she could to slowly turn her head. With aching slowness, she finally managed to peek very carefully, behind her, to see..
Her shadow.
"Ohhh." Selene breathed again, all in a rush. It was silly to let X get to her like this. Of course it was just her shadow, what else was she going to see there behind her! And in front of her.
Wait.
Her shadow was in front of her. The light was on the other side of the bed, casting the shadow in front of her. Which meant-
Limp or not, Selene ran screaming from her room.
