A huge storm had marked the official transition from summer to autumn with the extreme rain that had pounded the city ensuring a day free from school classes. Arian had spent the unofficial day off listening to winds howling across the city, as claps of thunder acting as punctuation to the rain driving down.

In the evening he’d managed to find some candles and ended up roped into playing a couple of board games that his cousin had managed to unearth from somewhere in between snacking on some brownies that they’d found in the large treat jar in the kitchen. They’d both ended up eventually falling asleep in the living room and when Arian woke up groggily in the morning to the chirping of birdsong, it was to find that the storm had ended up blowing itself out sometime in the middle of the night.

The sky outside had been clear with not a cloud in sight and the sun shining cheerfully in the sky. Saffy who seemed to have awoken at some point before him had told him that although power had restored, classes had been cancelled again with school resuming as normal on the following day. His cousin had suggested that they dig out the two large fleece blankets, rummage through the dvds and celebrate the return of power by lazing the morning away by watching movies on the telly. Arian had turned down the offer however and after a breakfast of sandwiches and mugs of tea, the dark-haired teen had decided on a whim to go for a run instead.

The sunny, but crisp morning had made a pleasant change from the hot, sweltering days that had made up so much of the summer, and the quiet streets had been lined with puddles everywhere – a reminder of the previous night’s stormy weather. Arian personally very much preferred this not overly too warm weather, unlike the summer where the dark-haired teen had ended up having to slather his skin with the highest SPF creams available during many of the days in order to avoid the boiled lobster look.

Ending up at the park, Arian had ended up slowing down to a walk, while trying to avoid the worst of the muddy leftover puddles – he’d forgotten to take the willies and didn’t much feel like having to spend the afternoon cleaning his trainers of mud later on – although he’d ended up getting the darn shoes muddy anyway after some acorns scattered across the sodden ground had given him an idea for a new pendant.

Prize to hand the dark-haired teen had hurried home eager to try his idea out, and after leaving said muddy shoes on the mat by the apartment door, spent the rest of the morning and a great deal of the rest of the afternoon shut up in his room. However by the time his cousin managed to drag him out to actually eat something leaving behind the end result of several acorn caps, some bronze ball pins and a great deal of super sticky resin glue – a single beaded acorn pendant formed of a single antiqued ivory bead capped with a real acorn top lay drying on his small desk – his first pendant of the new autumn.
