Astoria Stratocaster
Oh this is great! It's a fantastic idea. My sister and I have gotten into bird watching recently since seeing "The Big Year" . I have trouble identifying them by sound though, since I'm new at bird watching. I used to keep count of the birds I used to see and their names (like Mimus polyglotus or Tiaris bicolor for example) or their common names (like the Greater Antillean Grackle) but I didn't write them down. I also don't know what their names are since people here call them by different names. redface
I do however think this is a great idea. Perhaps we could post the birds that we identify on a daily basis. Just in every day life. SO we can learn to identify them, interact with other Gaians who are interested in the subject, learn and just have fun.
I think it would be interesting to see the bird submissions since we all live in different parts of the world.
This of course is a suggestion. Let me know what you think of it. whee
:3 I love bird watching, but I don't go much farther than putting out food and watching from my window. That's impressive that you know the Latin names.
http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/browse/ac <- I'm assuming you're in North America if you have grackles, so this bird guided you may like.
I think that's a fantastic suggestion. Perhaps a new thread were we can post pictures of the birds we've seen. I have a trio of Stellar Jays that stop by often (usually heckling me to feed them). I'll let you start the thread if you want. <3
