⊱ Occupation: Historian, book-collector, and tutor.
⊱ Sexuality: He isn't saying, but he's never seemed particularly interested in one gender over the other.
⊱ Appearance: Levateinn is 5'8", slightly shorter than average, but built lean and spare, in a way that suggests sharpness and economy of movement rather than weakness or frailty. Despite his largely quiet, sedentary life, he keeps in good shape out of habit. He has a narrow, angular face, with refined features; his eyes are dark blue, and his black hair is cropped short and neatly brushed back. He wears glasses, which he frequently adjusts as a nervous tic, and he dresses conservatively, but tastefully, in well-tailored but understated suits.
His body language is calm, dignified, and self-assured, confident without being noisy or obvious about it. He is always in control, or at least looks it; very little can break his poker face, and most often his expressions are small, subtle, and easily missed.

⊱ Personality: In this case, first impressions are fairly valid. Levateinn is as calm and controlled in person as he looks, striving to maintain control over his emotions and actions at all times, acting on logic instead of feeling. He is intelligent, well-read, and cultured, but also reserved and careful with his words. Very little seems to shake him, and though certain situations (such as, say, being drawn into the Wardwood) may startle him, he is quick to think them through, understand them, and adapt to them, all without making a fuss. While he may come across as boring during a first meeting, he has a mind like a steel trap, keen observational skills, and a dry, deadpan sense of humor, even if it rarely makes an appearance.
His self-discipline is powered by an iron will and grim determination, and leads him to work tirelessly to improve himself and the situations of those around him. He tutors his students with seemingly endless patience and care, never becoming upset if they don't understand the material, or refuse to work, or simply aren't prepared. This calmness is not weakness -- he does not tolerate laziness or tantrum-throwing, but he corrects them without ever raising his voice. However, it can also come across as lack of emotion or compassion, especially when he's speaking to someone who's upset. He is not very good at comforting emotional people.
However, he is good at finding solutions to problems. While it's difficult to provoke his ire, he holds grudges forever. Though he may put up a civil facade, he is actually very vindictive, and while he may (with a great deal of difficulty) forgive, he never forgets. He will, in his own careful, quiet way, make life difficult for anyone who's wronged him or someone close to him; the only good news here is that it's very hard to get onto his blacklist.
⊱ History: Levateinn doesn't speak much of his childhood. These days, he works as a tutor for the children of Palisade nobles, teaching them history, maths, literature, and science. He makes most of his income teaching upper-class children, but he also gives weekly lectures -- free and open to anyone who wants to attend -- in front of his home, as he believes that learning should not be restricted to the upper class. He's been known to give private lessons (also free) to particularly bright attendees. His patience and calm, but firm directions have been quite effective, and he enjoys a comfortable life. Most of what he earns goes towards purchasing books, and he has a growing library. His main interest is in history, and he seems especially interested in documents dealing with the Wardwood, the Old Ways, and the Wolves and Guardians of old.
Despite all his reading, he never expected to be experiencing that lore firsthand.

Calder is a larger-than-average buck, and tends to loom, even when he isn't the biggest creature in the area. He is often restless, with his bad temper clearly showing in how he tends to snort and bare his teeth at anyone who gets too close -- not exactly a cuddly, friendly Guardian.
He and his Chosen couldn't be more unlike each other. ...Right?
