Jeremy was on a hunt. For what he couldn't say, but he knew he was looking for something. Despite not quite finding it yet, he had to admit that it was a pretty good way to get his barings of his once-more permanent home. He'd discovered several important things on his self-imposed treasure hunt; the cafeteria, communal showers and the training grounds, but there was still something that was missing.
The infirmary.
He had no idea where it was, how to get there, who ran it...but that was apparently for Future Jeremy to discover, since he just kept wandering aimlessly for the...whatever he was looking for. He'd find it eventually, he just knew it! For now though, wandering ahoy.
...Hey. Wasn't that Otto?
No. Otto wasn't that tall...Uhhh.
"Are you wearing heels?" He called out to the blonde ahead of him, honestly curious.

Deryk was on the lookout for roses. But not just any rose. The special pieces of eden. They held great power. He just knew it. While he was scouting around for the rose bearers, he heard someone calling to him from behind. Frowning, he quickly turned around.
"Calcanea? No! Egone quid cinctus calcanea? Non potes videre quod illi sunt manifeste ocreis?" he said with a bit of a huff.

Jeremy stared. And stared. And stared some more.
"Um. I think I've got a little something---" He stuck a pinkie finger in each ear and started twisting, trying to clean it of earwax. Because he was hearing things. Crazy things. "Say that again, buddy?"

"Dixi Im 'circumdatio cothurno. Non expetierunt. Non potest intelligere te me? Non? non?"
Again, Deryk didn't think about the fact that he was speaking a dead language. Just don't start getting him to read ancient scripts outloud. It probably won't end well.
"Sed habeo de vobis. Ulla rosae vidisti? Quod si quis habet?"
He figured he may as well start interrogating.

Deryk blinked back.
"Quid?"
Runt? He didn't say anything about a runt!

"...Squid?" Jeremy replied back, head tilting like a pup trying to figure things out...and failing. Why would he be looking for a squid...and what was with all those weird words.
"You're weird. Hey do you like fishing?" He then proceeded to mime fishing with a pole.

"Non est squid. Ubi jam habuistis? Ne quid loquitur? Everriculum? EGO postulo rosarum!"
This guy thought he was weird? This guy wasn't even making any sense with these weird tangents. Deryk paused at that thought. He must know something. He was just trying to misdirect him. That had to be what was going on.

"...Of course you're not a squid. That'd be stupid. No hablo espanol dude." He waved his hands in front of him, and started to take a slow step back. This blondie was a lunatic. He didn't want to associate with lunatics.

Deryk looked a little bewildered.
"Quid? Non ego sum lolligo! Im 'non loquitur spanish aut. Tute insani, quod sic. hic solum quod responderi possit. Etiam."
Letting out a breath, he tried to cut to the chase.
"Quis fuit rosa."

Jeremy stare at the other guy, lately hard as if that would make him suddenly make sense. So far it hadn't happened, but he was holding onto whatever luck he managed to possess that it would one day.
"I don't know what you're saying, dude. I don't have fruit Rosas, whatever they are." He paused, stroked his chin, and thought really, really hard. "Hey! Can you show me what you're trying to say? I don't think you know how to words yet...but maybe show and tell?"

Deryk let out a sigh. Well they were on some track for communication now. He looked around to try and find a pen and paper or something he could draw on. Spotting nothing immediately around, he turned back towards Jeremy while making writing motions.
"Chartam et calamum. Habes his?"

At last, something he understood! The writing motions got his attention and the blonde nodded eagerly, but held up both hands flat and palms out. "Writing things! Okay I can do that but you have to stay here!"
He backed up a single step. "Staaaaay...." He made a pressing motion with his hands, like trying to physically command a dog. "Staaaaay..." Then he turned and booked it around the corner, going lord knows where to get what he needed. He returned a good ten minutes later with a pen and a small notepad - post it notes, apparently - and held it out to where he remembered leaving he crazy speaker.
"Tah-dah!"

Deryk stood by, waiting. Tapping his foot on the ground while the other hunter went off to find some writing tools, he soon lit up as he returned. Taking the notepad and pen, he went to scribble upon it. When he was done, the page had a rather sloppy flower looking thing. Was it supposed to be a rose? A tulip? Something else?
In any case, he just handed the notepad back over.

Jeremy looked at it, and then took the post it's from him. "What's this?" He hummed thoughtfully, looking at the note from every angle possible; some he had to turn the pad for, others he had to tilt his head. "...A flower?" He guessed, wrinkling up his nose.
"Buddy, if this is a flower you need drawing lessons. I knew a girl who was awesome at it and did lessons for kids and stuff but uh...I'm not too sure she'd be allowed on the island."
