Eshe bounced along. It was her usual kind of walk, and varied between constant bounding to a sort of rhythmic half-shuffle. She couldn't help it, she had a kind of energy and contentedness that she has found over her travels, most others lusted after. She had met lions plagued by misery and sadness, and had the joy and relief of never having such dark and heavy emotions.

This didn't mean that she was never sad, no, she certainly had the capacity for it. Eshe believed her chosen path in life was just to be optimistic, to be grateful and cheerful, that, and she was lucky in that she hadn't had too many terrible experiences. So far her life had been rather easy and simple, she grew up happy with her siblings, and was then left to find her own way in the world.

The brown lioness continued to dance along the path, swaying happily. She figured she'd find a spot to eat or maybe lie in the shade for a quick rest some time soon.

Ndoto rested under the shade of a tree by a little stream, holding down the fort while is little group of tag-alongs went off to hunt. They rotated every day, letting one lion stay behind to guard their 'spot' they selected, while the others went out for food. The pale lion stretched happily, clawing the tree trunk a bit out of boredom before he started to hum. Singing and humming were really his thing, and he did them whenever he could.

His tail started to bop to the beat of the song currently running through his head, and eventually he closed his eyes to start singing. "Elele...ye..oluwa...kurunba...amugeh...elele...every time she closed her eyes..."

The song was more instrumental than lyrical, so he tapped his paws against the ground to mimic the drum beats his brother would bang out on a tree or rock. He switched back to humming just in time to hear a rather happy rhythm dancing its way down the path that passed by the tree. Curious, Ndoto opened his eyes and glanced down the path in time to see a brown lioness appear through the grass. He watched her approach, a grin spreading over his features. She looked like she'd be fun to talk to!

"Good afternoon!" he called out happily. He was never one to assume a stranger would attack him on sight. To him, everyone was as fun and as fancy free as he was. The way this lioness was bopping down the path, it seemed he'd be right once again.

All of a sudden, she heard a strange noise, and though it was strange, it was also somewhat enchanting. She bobbed up and down on the spot subconciously, swaying slightly. It was quite.. rhythmic. Eshe stood half rooted and half swaying on the spot, until she heard a voice that snapped her out of her trance. It was as equally as happy as hers, so she was delighted to respond.

She'd learnt throughout life that not everyone was as happy as her, and certainly not everyone was as happy to talk to and be approached by a stranger. Her eyes widened as she padded towards him in her carefree manner, stopping just shy of the shade beneath the tree.

"Hello there!, how are you?" She grinned widely.

Ndoto grinned a bit wider as the lioness moved her feet towards him, still bouncing if a bit more cautious now. He waved her over with his paw, not minding a stranger sharing his shade. He was fairly comfortable with his fighting skills - or rather, running skills - to evade danger. Besides, it was hot out there! Who wouldn't want a nice seat under a tree?

"I'm quite well, miss," he said with a little bow of his head and flick of his tail by way of greeting. "Even better now that I've got some company to share this shade with!" It was quite easy to tell he was a social lion and enjoyed being around other felines. He seemed to light up whenever he met someone new, since new friends meant more people to have fun with. And who didn't love that?

"Ndoto's my name, singing's my game," he said as he raised his head, that friendly smile still back on his face. "And what is yours? You seemed to be dancing down the road just now." He wasn't much of a rhythm keeper, preferring to stand or sit while he sang, but there were some times that he just couldn't help himself and he bouncing around to a good song.

"Singing?" She cocked her head playfully at Ndoto. She'd heard lions whisper tunes under their breath, and come up with little tunes to pop along to, but she'd never heard a lion in full force of a rhythmic trance. How intriguing. Eshe mimicked his large smile and swayed over to his patch. It was perfectly shaded and protected her dusty brown pelt from being beaten by the sun. "I'm Eshe. I don't really have a game, I guess, my mother said I've just always been more energetic than other cubs, when I was small I was certainly a handful!" This she knew to be true, she could remember all too well the memories of bouncing awake early in the morning, begging her mom and her brother to play.

"Singin'." Ndoto repeated with a grin. Singing was the reason why he was alive, he was sure. He and his brother fit so well together it was impossible for there to be any other reason. He was the beat and rhythm where Ndoto was the melody and the song. If he had been any different life wouldn't be as fun!

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Eshe," he added, bowing his head just a bit in greeting. "And that's all right. Energy is a great quality to have! You do seem to have a lot of it," he said with a chuckle. "I bet you'd be a wonderful dancer." That was one thing he couldn't do that well, oddly enough. He could keep the beat, but for any extravagant movements or complex footwork, he was hopeless. It was better for him to sit with the drummers and chanters and lead the song with his voice.

"So what brings you out here?" he asked as he settled down again. "Going from one place to another? Do you live out here?" Ah, he loved meeting new people! Everyone was always so interesting.

Dancing! She'd never thought about it before, she seemed to move her body almost self consciously. "Dancing sounds so fun, I've never really tried it, do you know many people that dance? I bet you could sign whilst they danced too!" She slowed down a little to avoid tripping up on her words and gave him a large smile. "Yes, I live out here, well, I tend to wander quite a bit, sometimes I need to just get out and stretch my legs!" Eshe tilted her head. "What about you, where are you from?"

Ndoto nodded a bit, grinning still as she commented on singing. "I do! I'm rather horrible at dancing, so I participate by giving them something to dance to, especially if there's no music." His voice could substitute for the sounds created by drums or beating paws, after all. It could reach pitches and mark beats that lots of other instruments couldn't.

"I'm not really from anywhere," he said with a little shrug. "My brother and I left our pride a few weeks ago to find our new home. Just some little place by an unnamed lake. It was a small pride, and we didn't fit in very well there, so we up and left. We're on our way to a pride that's full of song and dance, though. That was we'll feel right at home!"

"I'm sure you could give it a go!" Sometimes, it didn't matter whether you were good at something or not, just that you enjoyed it. That's the principle Eshe held with life, anyway.

"You have to be from somewhere?" She chuckled. No-one could not be from anywhere! However she didn't want to press matters so instead she looked curiously at him. "It certainly sounds like it will fit you, where is it? If you don't mind me asking." Her tail flickered to and fro. She hadn't heard much about other places, and hadn't ever been to one herself.

"Heh...that's sort of the problem," Ndoto said with a weak grin. He motioned with his paw in the direction of the sun, which had already passed it's peak position in the sky and was slowly heading for the horizon. "It's in that direction. We follow the sun after mid day until it sets at night. Usually," he added, since it was indeed past noon and he was obviously not walking.

"Today we're taking a bit of an extra rest, since we went hunting last night. It made a few of our members a bit tired, so a day of rest was needed." He was exhausted as well. All this day time walking was odd for the normally nocturnal beast.

He tilted his head a bit with a grin, tail flopping from side to side. "Once we get there, though, I know it'll be worth all this walkin'. I can't wait to get there! Singin' and dancin' all day long...sounds like the life for me."

"Oh it does it does!" She bounced up and down on her toes. Eshe had barely met the male, and knew little about him, but she had already become excited for him to continue on his adventure, it clearly meant a lot to him.

"I'm sure you'll find it just fine." The brown lioness nodded. After all, following the sun was usually a good way to go. She didn't have the best sense of direction herself in all honesty, and had never heard of the place they were going, so could be of no use. "I bet you'll have so much fun!"

Ndoto laughed and nodded in agreement. "It'll be great," he said before flicking his ear in the direction he had just pointed. He turned to look and chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Ah...sounds like they're ready to move on after all," he murmured, standing and shaking himself to get the blood flowing.

"It's been lovely chatting with you, Eshe. I wish you luck on your travels, wherever you end up going." He bowed slightly in her direction and gave her another charming smile before trotting off into the sun, searching for his small pride. Hopefully they'd cut some distance between themselves and their goal today.
