It was not the best night to be out patrolling, that much was for certain. But then, Chaonis never was one to pick the best of anything. He liked the challenge, the danger, and a large storm certainly added those things to his evening.
Running into a group of Nega out for an evening's stroll was even better.
They were in the lower side of town, where upkeep and beautification of the streets were not at the top of the importance list for literally anyone. It was a good place to go unnoticed, as there were plenty of abandoned and condemned buildings to use.
For whatever.
The only risks included being spotted by a homeless person, or the occasional cop patrol out looking for the much more common drug dealer. But none of those posed any trouble for a person with powers granted to them by Order or Chaos.
Chaonis had counted three auras, one of each level. A Lieutenant, and Captain, and a General. He found them easily enough. They were presumably there to do some training. He had interrupted, as cocky as he always was, thinking he could handle them so long as he took the General out first.
Painite had other ideas about the battle. She knew they had the upper hand with their numbers and combined strength. She played the support role, stealing attacks but never getting close enough for Chaonis to focus on her alone.
At the moment, he was surrounded, holding his side as blood seeped through his fingers, though the heavy rain fall washed it away. His armor looked awesome, and was good for hits, but spears were another story.
Painite stood confident and tall, looking from the Captain who had asked for some training and her Lieutenant.
"Finish him off."

Training wasn't somethign Lieutenant Xenotime strictly needed, but it was something she was passionate about. So when Painite presented her with a chance to come along with her and another captain for the evening she eagerly jumped at the chance. Power level aside, the teen was a damn good fighter, but that was at all surprising when one took a look at her hobbies outside of her Negaverse uniform. She was a fighter, through and through, cocky for a lieutenant, but for good reason. So it was excitement that coursed through the punkish teen when their little training party was crashed by an Eternal senshi. He too was cocky, and in the end that proved to be detrimental for him. One on one, it was a fair bet he could have taken any one of them, but all three at once, with Painite keeping out of reach? He didn't have a chance. She was grinning as she watched blood flow free between his fingers where they clutched at his side. The rain quickly washed it away, but Xenotime saw it, she knew the general's spear had struck true, and with him now injured it was only a matter of time before She and the captain with them could finish him off. He might have been an eternal, but even they had their limits. "Finish him off."The words were like music to the girl's ears. "With pleasure." She passed a silent glance to the captain beside her to urge him to stay put, then, when he nodded his understanding, she darted in, pretty little fist already cocked back and her torso twisting. She was aiming for the stubble lined stretch of his jaw. Her grey eyes ablaze, voice raising into the stormy night around them in cold, gleeful laughter. Not far across town another agent of chaos was moving about in the torrential rain despite her better judgement, but it wasn't the challenge for Super Sailor Navi. She'd happily stayed at home within the safety of her apartment, probably watching a movie with her room mate, but something had been nagging at her for the better part of an hour now. An uneasy feeling of dread that ate at her relentlessly until finally she'd powered up and stepped through her bedroom mirror. Her first stop had been the community center, sure the steadily growing knot in her stomach had something to do with Chaoins, but he'd been nowhere to be found. Unwilling to go home without finding him, she'd left the dry safety of the run down building and gone searching.

Chaonis growled at the order, feeling condescended to. What, she was too good to get him while he was hurt? Or she felt he was so weak he couldn't beat them still. He was going to show the General, and her cronies, that they were all messing with the wrong Eternal Senshi.
He growled as Xenotime charged him, lashing out to catch her fist as she swung it. His style was that of a brawler, not giving way to things like chivalry, and certainly not above fighting dirty. Especially in situations like this.
As long as he won in the end, he didn't care how he got there.
He lunged his shoulder forward while he pulled her toward him, aiming to slam his shoulder into her chest.
Painite watched keenly. She would not interrupt unless they absolutely needed her. She knew Xenotime was over reaching, but the senshi was injured and this was a great way to train them. First hand experience. She was impressed with her lieutenant's style, and eager to see what else she was made of.
The one who killed the senshi would get the most points with her, of course.

This guy was no amateur. There was an second of shock as Xenotime's fist disappeared within Chaonis' hand, but she didn't have time to marvel at his speed. He jerked her forward and she had two options. She could either let his shoulder slam into her, or she could drop into a crouch. As the latter would allow her to avoid the hit that's the one she decided on. She avoided the impact of his shoulder, but it wasn't pretty. The momentum from being yanked had her crashing to her knees with only one hand left to catch herself with. "Not bad," she admitted, begrudgingly, shaking her head to clear purple bangs from her eyes as she looked up at him. She didn't stay down long, she couldn't afford it. The rain, along with a very hard jerk, let her tear her hand out of his grip, and she smacked that palm into the roof, one slender leg sweeping around to take out the Eternal Senshi's feet. Inpatients had the Captain moving forward as if he meant to assist the lieutenant, but when he saw she'd managed to free herself he shifted his priority into backing her up. When she swept at his legs he'd take a swing at his face with the notion that he could only block one of them. Navi had finally picked up the aura of Chaonis, but his power signature wasn't what had her sprinting across the roof tops towards him. On their own three Negaverse Agents wouldn't give the Dark Mirror Senshi any concern, but it felt as though they were not only right on top of each other, but closing in on Chaonis. The feeling of dread in the pit of her stomach increased tenfold. Something was definitely wrong. Chaonis wasn't a fragile person. He was strong, determined, and tenacious. Navi didn't often worry about him holding his own against anything Chaos might throw at him, but she also hadn't imagined they'd throw themselves at him in groups. He might be an eternal, but even he had his limits. Rushing blindly into the fray wasn't really a great idea, she knew that. The agents attacking Chaonis were supposed to be her allies, she couldn't just jump in attack.. Could she? Her Queen had set her sights on the Senshi of Danger, but Navi wasn't sure she wanted him to know that just yet. Indecision or not, she didn't slow down.

Chaonis, due to his injury, was severely slowed and could not react as fast as he wanted to as the Lieutenant knocked his feet out from him. He swore loudly, but managed to catch his balance and use the fall to barrel straight into the Captain. He turned it into a running lunge, shoving the guy backwards.
They slammed into a window, and then through it, into one of the run down buildings.
But hey, at least they weren't in the rain any more.
The clouds rumbled their pleasure at the battle below. Painite looked up at them and agreed, thinking it was the perfect night for some senshi killing. She felt another chaos aura in the area and looked around, but a yelp of pain from inside the building drew her attention back.
Chaos auras were fine: they were on her side. She'd investigate later.
Walking to the building, she saw Chaonis had managed to get on top of the Captain and had him pinned to the ground, punching his face.
"Xenotime," she called, almost in a sing song tone, "can you help our friend over there?"
She kept her eyes on the Eternal, though, knowing he could be more trouble than he was worth. Chaonis was so busy with the fight he didn't realize someone else was coming. He did, however, realize that he was losing. And now he was inside. He generally did not resort to his senshi magic, but it looked like he was not going to be given any other choice. He needed the boost of strength, even if it brought the building down around them.
"Warning!!" He yelled, as loud as he could and with all the desperation he was feeling, as unfamiliar as it was, "Epic hazards!!"
Everything began to shake.

Xenotime voices back to her feet as Chaonis rocked forward and caught himself after she'd kicked his legs out from under him. It wasn't pretty, but the way he managed to turn his fall into a charge was reminder yet again that they were dealing with someone not only powerful, but more then a little skilled. Absently, the lieutenant found herself wishing they were powered down and on equal footing. She'd have loved to face him in the ring. But this wasn't that sort of fight. Painite's voice floated down to the punk, and with grin the young woman jumped into action. She made it as far as the window before the senshi was calling out what she had to assume was an attack, and the entire building began to shake around them. "What the ********?" A bit of plaster fell beside the two on the floor, and that was hint enough for Xenotime to get the hell out of dodge. She lept back from the window ledge, scanning backwards and away. "General, he's going to bring the whole ******** building down around him!" A.k.a run like hell. Navi slid to a stop along the roof of the building on the other side of the one Chaonis destroying, the vibrations damn near taking her of her feet. She saw the retreating lieutenant and the general, but the last of the three negaverse auras was inside the crumbling building. "Oh my God." She could see the roof beginning to cave in. "He going to bring it down on top of the booth of them." She didn't know captain, so her concern for him was non-existent, but her Fiyero was inside as well, and she had no way of knowing if this attack had an escape plan for the weilder, or if Chaonis had just decided that if he was going down, he would try to bring as many of his attackers down with him as he could.

Painite was not liking the look of that. It was a typical senshi move. They could not win every fight, but they made sure they weren't kidnapped or killed and that was the most infuriating thing ever. Yes, the whole will to survive thing was admirable, but damn it. If Painite had a dollar for every senshi trick that had prevented her from fulfilling her goals at the very last minute, she'd be set for life.
This was one of the more desperate moves she had seen, at least.
Painite moved as the building started to collapse, faster than even Chaonis thought it would. She grabbed Xenotime, the closest to her and the one that could not teleport for herself, and made to teleport her away from the scene and back to safety.
Chaonis had no such option. He had no control over what his attack did now, and he was struggling to get to his feet before everything fell down. He punched the Negaverse Captain hard in the face before he struggled to get back to the window he'd come in through. He made a jump for it, as half the building collapsed down into where he had just been.
Likely, where the Captain still was, unless he had been able to teleport away. Whatever the case, Chaonis no longer felt any chaotic auras. Except one, he realized, but he was too exhausted to focus much on it. He collapsed as rubble fell around him, dust engulfing him and swallowing the whole area in a cloud. The rumbling stopped, the attack ebbing away.

"********. ********. ********!" One moment sprinting away from a collapsing building and the now falling rubble, the next Xenotime felt an arm go around her waist before the rainy scene around her vanished completely. Painite had saved her, teleported her away to safety. If she didn't already adore the other woman, that certainly would have earned her about a bazillion brownie points. Meanwhile Navi was staring horrified at the quickly crumbling building in front of her, staggering herself to keep from falling over as everything around her shook. It was like a ******** localized earthquake, and Chaonis was at the epicenter! "Fiyero!" She screamed it, voice high and shrill. All pretense of caution flew out the window as the DMC spotted the bit of white and orange escaping the window he'd crashed into with the captain moment before. Had she any mind for reasoning in that moment she'd have known the other chaotic auras were gone, but her little world had narrowed down to one thing, and that was Chaonis. The Senshi was already running for him when he collapsed, leaping down from where she'd been standing and scrambling over rubble into she reached his side and all but threw herself down beside her so she could lean over him and shield his body from anything that might have fallen on him. Her knees screamed at her, protesting the abuse she'd just put them through, and the hard knock of chunks of building falling on her were sure to leave bruises, but the frantic worry for the Senshi beneath her sort of drowned that all out. Dust was swirling around them, but the torrent of rain that was falling on them kept the both of them unnaturally clean of dirt, or in his case, blood. When everything stilled, after what felt like an enternity, the girl finally fell back on her knees, delicate fingers seeking out a pulse in Chaonis' neck. Anything, a breath, a cough, something to let him know he was alive. If she wasn't afraid the captain had hurt him worse then she'd seen, she would have hastened to flip him over, but she didn't dare, not before she knew what all was wrong with him. "Fiyero, come on. It's me, It's your Elphy. Come on! Wake up!" As she spoke, pleading with him to wake up, her voice rose in panic. "Please! Chaonis!" She was patting his cheeks, nudging at him. "Open your eyes!

Chaonis groaned as he felt her beside him, distantly hearing her voice somewhere above him. Or below him? He was not exactly sure what way he as facing or where she was, his perspective a little jumbled from the battle.
He took a breath and coughed on the dust, though the rain did a good job of making what should have been light and easily dispersed into something clinging and disgusting.
The Senshi of Danger opened his eyes and looked around blearily.
He rolled onto his side, then flopped onto his back. He looked up at her, her face coming into focus. "Navi," he did not remember her in the fight, though he had lost track of everything. He grimaced and held on to his injury, at least the one that was bleeding, breathing heavily.
"I'm here... I'm fine."

That first rough groan brought a rush of relief to the girl that would have made her knees weak enough to drop her had she been on her feet. The second leading up to it had felt like that's dragged on through an eternity, and now they sped on again at their normal pace. He was alive, and time could carry on once again undisturbed. He coughed, then her name floated up between them, his tone puzzled. It had her catching up his hand, squeezing it tightly as he assured her that he was fine, despite the blood seeping between the fingers curled around his side. "You're not," she argued, but despite her words a hesitant smile was blooming on pouted lips. Watching the trail of the fight, the building coming down around him, she'd honestly thought she was going to lose him. Now that he was safe, it was as if the girl couldn't find words to express her relief. Instead she knelt beside him, one hand holding his tightly, the other moving to brush dust soiled water from his cheek, for what good it would do. The storm had settled in in earnest. Great turrets of rain was falling now, soaking the pair of them to the bone. Lightning cutting through the sky some distance away, its accompanying thunder following seconds behind. Navi's curls were plastered to cheeks, and though she couldn't hide all the signs of her overwhelming relief, the rain at least hid the tears.

There were very few times when Eternal Sailor Chaonis found himself in more trouble than he could deal with. He was the Senshi of Danger, after all. It was sort of his thing, and he was good at it. Dealing with large fights, getting into messes that he often just made worse for himself. Sure, things got bad, but never so bad that he could not get himself out of it.
This time, he had gotten too far ahead of himself.
He had been injured, worse than he could remember in recent times, and he had his butt handed to him far too easily for his tastes. The only reason he had gotten away was because of his magic, and even that was pure luck. It could have easily made things much worse, if he had not been able to get away in time.
The idea that he was mortal terrified him. He hated feeling weak, feeling vulnerable, feeling like he could be stopped. Forever.
"You're getting soaked," he pointed out slowly, ignoring the heavy thoughts that were now plaguing him. It was easier that way, it was the way he had learned to cope. They would pass, this moment would pass, and he would be fine. He always was. What was the point in thinking too much about it, when it made him so uncomfortable and upset? He was not a wuss. He wasn't going to do this. Panic.
Watching her, he realized she brought him comfort. Just having her near, feeling her touch, made his heart slow to something close to normal. He shivered and shifted, leaning toward her.

She starred down at him, features battling between worry and confusion as he made mention of just how wet she was getting. "I don't care." Why should she care? What was a little water in the face of such heart stopping worry and overwhelming relief? It struck her as odd that he felt the need to mention it, but he could very well be in shock for all she knew. And that was a worrying thought all on its own. With a frown the Senshi lay her hand against his forehead, feeling for a chill or clamminess. Any indicator that could confirm or lay rest to her worry. When he shivered and shifted closer her response was automatic. Avoiding his injury, ever so carefully, the girl helped him move until his head and shoulders were resting in her lap, her palms smoothing along his cheeks and through the wet mess of his hair as she bent over him, shielding him from the rain. Well, at least the brunt of it. Now that everything had more or less settled the dmc couldn't help but slide her gaze along to the ruin of the building beside them. There was nothing left of it but a few stay hints of the original frame and an enormous pile of rubble. And somewhere in there, among the debris, was the remains of one very unfortunate negaverse agent. Of course there was no way to be sure of that, but Navi hadn't felt that particular aura flicker away before everything collapsed. Not like the other two had done. She shivered, turning away to look back down at the Senshi in her lap, her thumb stroking his cheek. "Something pulled me here, to you," she admitted softly, knowing full well how peculiar that might sound. "Watching that building... I don't think I've ever been more scared of losing someone." And considering what she'd witnessed in the Surrounding, that was saying something.

Chaonis groaned in pain as she moved him. The injury to his side had been a hard hit, and the spear ripped through his woefully plastic armor. It was great for absorbing punches, but sharp things or particularly heavy things were easily triumphant.
His forehead was a little clammy, but it could have just been the exertion and the rain falling around them. He looked up at her as she acted as a sort of umbrella for him, protecting him from the rain. He wasn't thinking about the Negaverse agents any more, or if he did or did not kill any of them.
He'd wonder about that later.
subconsciously, he had stopped using his attacks because of their collateral damage factor. He knew that he was stronger when he used them, but even without admitting it out loud he believed that the trade off was not fair. Not worth it.
But tonight he'd had no choice, really.
"I'm not going anywhere," he said, grinning at her. It was a little pale and shaky, but it was his defense mechanism. He had been scared, as well, but admitting it was nearly impossible for him. It was all too real. He was finding it often was, whenever Navi was near him. "You should get out of here... if the come back and find you..."
She would be in trouble. And he cared about that, somehow.

The grin he offered up to her helped to ease a bit of her worry. Not a lot, but some. "You're not allowed to go anywhere," she corrected, voice both soft and somehow firm. As if she wouldn't allow him to disappear, as foolish as that might have been. Her powers made her stronger, but not even she could cheat death. This was a war, casualties happened.. She didn't want to think about that though, so when he urged her to leave she grasped at the subject change and clung to it. "If they come back and I'm not here, then what happens to you?" She wasn't leaving his side, not until she knew he was safe. Besides, she knew the Negaverse wouldn't do anything to her, and if she made it clear her Queen had taken an interest in Chaonis then they'd have little choice but to back off or face Ares' fury. It wasn't something she'd be very willing to admit, but she would if it would save him. he didn't need to know it was truth. "You're bruised and bleeding, and you're worried about me?" A broken chuckle followed, and she bent so she could lay her lips against his chin and the line of his throat. he was cool to the touch, and with the rain leaching away what little warmth they both had it wasn't going to be long before his situation worsened. "I need to get you out of here. Do you think you can walk if I help you?" Getting him to a mirror and using that to get him to a hospital or somewhere safe would have been her preferred method, but she wasn't going to risk taking Chaonis though mirror space. Hell, she didn't even know if she could take him through. They'd have to walk, and she had no idea where to take him, just that they couldn't stay here.

Chaonis watched her, her words sinking in. If they came back and he was alone, injured, and helpless then he would be killed. That was a very easy answer to come to. It did not have to be the same Negas, either. They could send others after him, or a youma could find him.
But that was a lot of hypothetical worrying, and Chaonis did not want to start worrying about that.
"I don't worry about anything," he said slowly, grinning at her, this time with a bit more honesty. He touched her face gently with his hand, though, watching her thoughtfully for a moment before she bent to him. He closed his eyes for a moment but knew she was right.
They needed to move.
"I can get up," he said with some difficulty, moving to offer her his arm so she could help him up. Pain lanced through him but he shoved it down. "Just take me a few blocks that way, I can call a friend to help me the rest of the way."
Home, he meant, but they couldn't trust each other enough to give away their identities. And he didn't like hospitals, nor could he explain it away to his family if he did end up in one.
