It had been brought to Navi's attention recently that there were a fair few of her teammates that she hadn't had a whole lot of interaction with, or even met, in the case of the newbies. Something she was keen to rectify. The problem with that plan being how she was going to go about finding said team members. The simplist solution, and the one that had taken an embarrassingly long time to come to, was the compact communicators that Ares had given them. So far Navi had only used the thing once, so she wasn't a hundred percent sure how to go about using it, but she was a clever girl.

Perched on the rail of a balcony belonging to a vacant apartment, the girl turned the compact mirror in her hands, looking the thing over more carefully then she ever had. There was nothing on the outside that would help in communication so after a moment she opened it, staring down at her reflection in the glass. Lips pursed, she thought back to when she'd first got them, trying to recall if they'd come with any instructions. They hadn't but something else their Queen said might be helpful.

So she hoisted the mirror up to eye level, shoved away the notion that she likely looked a little silly, more so if she was wrong, she spoke to her own reflection. "Requiem," she murmured, watching for any ripple within the glass. "Reqiuem." A slight frown crossed her features, but she repeated the name a third time anyways just for good measure. After that it was just a matter of waiting.

Did the Senshi of Burial have her compact on her? Was she even powered up? "Ok, maybe that had been a stupid idea.." With a self conscious frown she snapped the mirror closed.

Eternal Sailor Requiem was a bit of a loner. Sure, the Dark Mirror Court was a family, but it wasn't a family that normally involved her - by her own choice. She decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow that to become attached to others is just to open yourself up for disappointment and heartbreak. It was a philosophy she had kept for well over a year, but it was becoming harder and harder to actually maintain. Not only was it a lonely road watching people pass by that she'd like to get to know better, but there were people out there that amazingly wanted to get to know her.

Apparently, Sailor Navi was one of them. Her voice was coming from Requiem's compact mirror, calling out her name. The Senshi of Burial, then on her way home from a night of gathering energy, opened the mirror to respond.

"You rang?" she asked into the mirror. Surely the girl wouldn't contact her just to talk. What would they even talk about? Requiem wasn't even sure what her interests were these days. No, this must be about Dark Mirror business. "Is everything alright?"

And just as she was about to slip the contact back within her top a voice called back to her softly. She snapped it open at once, blinking down at the Senshi of Burial as she inquired if everything was alright. "Yes," she answered quickly, then smiled. "Everything's fine on my end." Now that that was out of the way a somewhat awkward quiet followed, and Navi realized she wasn't entirely sure what to say to Requiem.

The smile slipped a little, and she fumbled for something to say worth saying, then just settled on tossing any small talk aside and being honest. "How are you doing? I haven't seen you since Christmas, I'm not sure if anyone has really.." She frowned as she thought about just how true those words were.

It was easy to forget that Requiem had been in the same position that Quinn, and Lydia herself, had been in. Forced to change identities, to change everything about their lives, just to be safe. That sort of thing effected a person. Lydia had clung to Quinn and hastened to surround herself with friends, but she just as easily could have been afraid of forming any new bonds on the chance that they'd all be ripped away from her again.

How was she doing? These simple small talk questions or questions of concern had become so bizarre to her. How was she doing? Hell if she knew the answer to that.

"I'm fine," she said with a pause. Her uncomfortable tone wasn't make her words any more convincing. Now what exactly was this - a phone call for small talk or some legitimate concern. "I've been just fine. Don't tell me you're concerned about me. Is that why you called me, or did you have something you want from me?"

She bit her lip. That sounded douchey. She rolled her eyes in her own regret, an apology on the tip of her tongue. But what was the point of apologizing?

There was a tiny wince that followed Requiem's curt response, and once again Navi found herself wondering if her impulsive decision to reach out to the other woman was the wisest. She waited, searching for something to say, when Requiem expanded a bit, then asked if that was Navi's reason for calling, and a slightly nervous little laugh followed. "Well," she started, trying to fight the gentle flush that threatened to creep along her cheeks, as well as the awkwardness that was edging in.

"A little of both, really." There was a slight apologetic tone to her voice. "I did want to see how you were doing, but I also wondered if you might want to get together sometime." The question wasn't that odd really, certainly not if directed to most people, but right that moment Navi felt a little weird asking. It was starting to look as though Requiem wasn't in much a hurry to interact much with her courtmates. "Either patrolling, or even getting a drink sometime. Anything really.." Awkward, this was starting to get really awkward.

She fell quiet for a second, and drew the bud of her lower lip between her teeth for a quick nibble before continuing. "I'm also going to plan another Christmas dinner, just a heads up so you know."

"I'm not gay," Requiem clarified.

Wait, that is what was going on here, right?

"And I'm Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas," she clarified once more in response to the Christmas invitation. She wasn't very good at this whole being friendly and socializing thing, but maybe she'd learn. "If you would like to go patrolling we can arrange that, although I really do work best on my own..."

She sighed. Damn, she was rusty.

"I guess I can pick you up on your offer to grab a drink, just don't try pulling any moves on me," she added with an awkward, forced and unattractive smile.

Wait.. What? Why was Requiem telling her about her sexual orientation?

Navi stared at the girl looking back from the mirror, expression completely lost for a moment or two while she continued to talk about her religion and so forth. Then it finally dawned on her what Requiem thought was going on, and the ginger haired teen startled, expression shutting down into disbelief. "Wait wait wait, hold on a second. I'm not asking you out on a date." What the ******** had just happened here?!

"I have a boyfriend. Virtus, he's a member of the DMC..." She tried to think back to last Christmas, unsure if Tova had shown up or not.. Wait. Yes she had. "You meet him at last year's Christmas party." There, that covered all the bases nicely. Not just the mistaken pick up attempt, but a reminder that the other girl had attended the court Christmas party in the past, so any excuse tired to religion wasn't going to fly.

Of course now that she knew Requiem was Jewish, maybe she should generalize the party a little. "I suppose we could make it a general holiday party instead."

This wasn't going the was Navi had imagined it at all. "Patrolling sounds great." The odd smile Requiem was giving her was a little distracting. "And we can maybe plan something to do some not powered up then?"

Great idea Navi. Really stellar.

"You can be gay and have a boyfriend," Requiem said defensively. "I had a boyfriend and he turned out to be gay."

She wasn't sure where she was going with this. But Navi seemed to be really eager to get Requiem to meet up with her, there was no point in fighting back anymore.

"Fine, we can meet up then," she groaned. "Why don't we just meet for a drink now and get this over with?" She paused. "I mean have fun together. Or something."

And now things were just going even further down hill. "I know that.." The small, thoughtful frown was growing, and her brows were dipping low with every passing second of conversation between them.

She was seriously considering calling the whole thing off and letting Reqiuem off the hook. It didn't seem as though the other girl wanted to meet up, and Navi wasn't about to force her company on anyone that didn't want it. She wasn't desperate for friends, she had plenty. This court was her family though, so she would probably always reach out to the members that she didn't see often.

Unexpectedly, the Eternal agreed to meet up, but she didn't sound too happy about it. It made Navi reluctant to jump at the offer, but after a moment she offered a small smile and nodded. "Sure, that sounds fine. Know any good places to go?"

Requiem thought for a moment. Was there any place she had in mind? Hell no! Requiem doesn't go out to socialize! In her best party mode she'd steal a bottle of something and get trashed alone in her empty bathtub on a Sunday night.

"Well, I know this one place called The Triangle," she suggested. Well, she didn't truly know it and had never gone inside, but when she went on patrol to drain energy she would go to this bar and drain energy from the drunk women stumbling out. "Why don't you meet me there tomorrow night at around eight?"

Perhaps it was a good thing that she was making a civilian social life again. However, had Requiem done an iota of research into The Triangle bar she would have realized she had just invited Navi to join her at a lesbian club.

The Triangle? Navi had never heard of it, but being that she wasn't a bar fly that wasn't entirely surprising. "Sure, that sounds great. I'll meet you tomorrow, then." With a last somewhat strained smile the ginger haired teen closed her compact and tucked it away. "Well, that could have gone better.." It also could have gone worst.

Okay, so her idea to reach out to her courtmates hadn't started out on the right foot. It'd been down right disastrous for the majority of her conversation with Requiem, but they'd ended up with plans to meet the following night. it hadn't been a total failure.
