Normally Roch didn't go into the garden. Plants weren't really his thing. But he'd been thinking about Tex a bit lately, and he had slowly come to a conclusion. He needed a place to put a reminder for himself. It didn't have to be something big--in fact the less people noticed it, the better, but he wanted it to be in the garden. That way he'd remember May, too, he figured as he stepped into the planted area.

He looked around for a while, a shovel in one hand, leaning against his shoulder like his guitar usually did. Someplace discreet, he figured. That shouldn't be too hard, nobody ever came--

Roch blinked at the talking dog. "Well... damn." This wouldn't work, would it? "I guess this ain't the place, after all," he said with a sigh. "Go on, I'll go find more flowers an' stuff t'put it." A place that wasn't the local dog park, y'know?

He reached into his pocket, fingering the rock he'd carved with a slight frown before starting to walk away.

"Lookin' for flowers," Roch said, his tone a bit absent as he tried to come up with another place on the campus. This was where Tex had died, after all--there was no point in placing it somewhere else.

"Y'know any place that don't get dug up usually?" he asked, since the guy seemed more likely to know than he did.

He looked at the flowers, wondering if that would do. "See..." he said slowly, "I want a LOT of flowers. Y'know... cuz May liked flowers a lot. And..." He sighed.

"Can y'find a bigger lot?" he asked after a moment, his hand tightening on the rock in his pocket. It wasn't very big, really, but he wanted it to be... findable. "I mean, y'don't gotta, really, I just figured now was as good a time t'do this as any. Before I graduate an' stuff." He walked along, heading for the dog boil. "Somethin' that ain't likely to be moved in the future."

"Yeah... yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Roch said, grinning slightly. "Y'know any? I'm a city boil, if it ain't obvious enough. The only time I climb trees is t'spy on people. Never really pay attention to the whole flower part of the deal."

He wondered if there was one in the forest or something... maybe even on the school grounds.

"Horsemen," Roch said. "I don't trust the jackers," he summed up, starting for the forest. A sapling was like... a stick growing out of the ground, right? But how would you know if it grew flowers when it was that small? He looked at the dog boil, wondering if he would know. "But y'don't see much of anythin', really, just them wanderin' around, workin' on things."

It seemed quieter once they reached the forest. Each step muffled by fallen leaves. "Um... y'know what we're lookin' for, right?" he asked. They all looked the same to him.

"Wait, I thought you said we were lookin' for a sapling," Roch said a bit blankly. "Aren't they little?" Confused boil was confused. But this was important, he thought, so he started looking for the black tree with red leaves. That's what Tex would be--well, the stone would be placed next to. That seemed fitting, he thought. Red and black were practically family colors.

Other than Vegas, that was. Vegas was always in white. But he really doubted he'd find an all white tree.

Roch headed for the tree that was pointed at, his hand tightening on his shovel for a second as a smile pulled at his lips. "Yeah, this'd work," he said, looking up at it. "This'd work real good. So... how d'you know which is its scarelings?" he asked, looking at the smaller trees around them.

He'd dig it up, plant it on campus, and then put the stone next to it. It'd... be fitting.
