How to go about choosing a Vet

There are many options for veterinary practices and they are rather common in most areas. So how do you know which one is the right vet for you? A lot of people consider prices when choosing a vet, and the care received. Now, as a recent break through with cat care, there has been an uprising in cat only Vet Practices. Make you choose a vet that makes both you and your cat feel comfortable, and you are satisfied with the care that is received.

Things to Look For at a Good Veterinary Practice

There are several things to consider when looking into vets. First and foremost, you need to be satisfied with the care you wish to recieve. You need to be able to trust their judgement in regards to your cats health, and they need to be willing to ask questions, etc. With any luck, you'll only have to see them once a year for checkups, but as we know, that isnt always the case.

What to Look For:

~ Cleanliness
~Is the practice straight forward and polite?
~Do they show concern and care for your cat?
~Prices on common procedures?
~Are there private rooms, and are cats separated from dogs?
~Does the veterinary practice spealize in all animals?
~Are they careful with regards to your cat?
~Is the vet willing and ready to answer questions?
~Is it hectic and busy?
~Are they able to work with your schedule?
~Are the Vet Techs clean and careful in handling?
~Is the practice also a hospital? Do they have the necessary equipment to handle any and all fields?
~What is the lobby like?
~Do they offer a payment plan? Or offer a credit based system?

For Those Little Emergencies

As we all know, many vets practice the 8 am to 6 pm shift, and often times not on the weekend. Its a good idea to look around for a 24/7 animal hospital in case your normal vet is closed. Make sure the number is where family members can see it, and that everyone knows the symptoms and signs of emergency. Keep your cats medical records all together and in a safe spot so that you can have it at a moments notice.
