-Things to Look for-

When purchasing a cat tree or post, there are several things to consider. Before you even look at trees, think about where your going to put it. Do you have room for it? Placement is key with a post or a tree. Preferably by a window so the kitty can view the great outdoors.

Make sure the tree (or post) is sturdy. A kitten weighs less than a full grown cat (Maine Coons can get up to 25 pounds!) so take this into consideration when purchasing your post. Make sure it can stand up to the pure destructiveness of your kitten and your full grown cat.

Size isn't everything. The bigger the tree, the more likely the support will be off. Ideally, a few perches, a hidey hole and scratchers is ideal. Remember that it does serve a purpose, so choose practical over fancy things that will match the furniture.

-Things to Avoid-

Avoid the gimmicks. Avoid the things that look like they would be super fun. Chances are, unless its functional, the cat would more than likely avoid it.

Stray away from things that look, feel and match your carpet in your house. This can confuse the cat and makes your carpet fair game. (keep this in mind when and if you make your own cat tree).

-Maintenance-

Over the course of time, you do need to keep maitence on the tree to make sure that it is still useable. Check for ware and tear of the scratchers. Replace, or remake your own. Dangly toys? Fix them if theyre a little worse for wear.

Cat hair and claw sheaths are common sights on a well used post or tree. Vaacum it occasionally (preferably when the kitty is elsewhere) and use products such as lint rollers, quiet swiffers, etc to keep the tree perches clean.

ie: handy products for keeping the tree clean and such

Well, I found a few cat trees I liked. Some of them were on Amazon and thus sadly out of my price range (I really need to find a job that pays well next summer); the others were on Ebay and I don't have a paypal yet. Plus those could possibly get pricey fairly quickly if enough people bid for them.

I stumbled across some incredibly awesome looking cat trees the other day, but because they were in the wrong country, I didn't bookmark the site. I was going to link it here, for any of you that may have been within reach, but I can't find it again!

Not the Euro, as Australia isn't part of Europe. I believe it's just Australian Dollars, or at least that's what I'm pretty sure we use when people want to trade their monies.

Hehehe, the Euro.

No, what we use is just an Australian Dollar. Except obviously we don't always stick the Australian bit in front of it and just call it a dollar. smile

FUN FACT: Our $1's are coins!

Also, sadly, I've been considering it and I don't think that Amazon will work due to postage and stuff. That may be subject to change though. We have been checking out eBay though, as I could find local stuff on there.

When (if) I get the money to get a ceramic water fountain for our boy, I might see if Amazon has them. Although my partner found a website that has fountains I've been secretly pining after...

Mine too!

Funfact: The US has produced $1 coins in the past (I've seen one or two, just mixed in with the canadian ones). I'm guessing they weren't all that popular or something, though, since they're nowhere near as common as the smaller coins.

Our system is easy compared to some other countries. We have pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars as coins and then we go into the bills. :3

Ive seen a handful of 1$ coins but theyre not common. Kind of like the 2$ bill we had circulated and discontinued in the 90's. Then they re did the quarters for the states and eh. I remeber when everyone was trying to collect them. :/ Of course our dollar isnt worth alot. D: Compared to some countries. The Euro is crazy ridiculous with their exchange rate. D:

Yeah, we skip the half dollar and have two dollars in a coin. Then 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 in bills. And unlike you guys in the states, we really don't give a crap if the coins are Canadian or American - just try to watch for other currencies because exchange is so different. The only time I'll separate out the US is for the states quarters, really (same when other new commemorative lines come out, for the first while I'll try to set them off to the side a bit, to save for people who specifically ask).
I'm not sure what the rates are at exactly right now, but I know a few days ago $340 pounds was over $500 can. and on the other end of the spectrum 400 pesos is like $40 can.

Im horrible with the conversion. I bought a 50 Euro sweatshirt from Finland and I got the notice from paypal saying it charged my accound 150$ for the whole thing. O__________o I dont buy out of states anymore for fear of pricey conversions. Everything is so darn exspensive here in WA so I tend to jump on Amazon sales prices. Our sales tax alone is .08% so its a good 8 cents for every dollar you spend. Its ridiculous.
