Johnathan was dancing along happily, ferrying loads of Alex's laundry down the stairs and into the laundry room. Homework was done, the kitchen was neat and tidy and between vacuuming sessions, Johnny had managed to finish his own linens and was working on his landlord's. Or really, roommate's, since Alex wasn't charging rent, but who was keeping track?
The changing of the seasons had not gone unnoticed by the maid of the house. He wasn't able to keep the windows open as long or the lights turned off as much. The days were growing shorter and soon sweaters would be necessary. Alex had a very nice array of them and Johnny made sure they were always folded just so. He wanted Alex to look his best. When the washing machine beeped and signaled it was finished, Johnny dashed off just in time to be over linoleum when...
BOOM!
Thunder peeled through the house and shook the windows, sending Johnny in a screeching rush up the stairs and into Alex's room. The skinny boy nearly dove under Alex's bed linens to calm down, wrapping them all into one big bunch to hide. A little blue haired puff of hair stuck out, which was the only real indicator of what happened to Little Bo-Bazzi.

Alexandre for his part had been finishing his own homework, taking care of Cadha, and trying to stop Johnathan from taking care of everything! It didn't seem to work, he knew this by now, but he kept trying day after day and night after night. Johnathan didn't need to do everything, Alexandre was quite independent - thank you very much. He knew very well how to do his own laundry and was able to handle the delicates of which he had a few. But it seemed Johnathan, as usual, was intent upon doing all the laundry in the house. At least he'd been allowed to cook, or he'd just done it before Johnathan could.
The changing of the seasons had ushered in a new array of candles in the house, and candle holders, at present many were burning around the house filling it with the scent of leaves and fire places. Flames flickered and danced within their glass homes as the light they threw danced across the walls of the house.
The roll of thunder was loud and took Alexandre by surprise; it wasn't often thunder shook windows after all. Looking up from his desk, where he'd been sitting working on homework, to glance out the window he watched the sky light up and lightning strike somewhere off in the distance. It was lovely, and for a moment he seemed in awe of it as he stared out the window. Finally he pulled himself away from the window and turned to look around his room. Candles filled his room, each one lite, as he worked on his homework by candle (and laptop) light. If it weren't for the odd bundle of bedding, which he remembered hadn't been bundled up like that earlier, he'd have missed the blue tuft of hair. "Johnathan?"

Johnny was incredibly thankful that Alex liked candles so much. If he didn't, then the whole house would go dark and would suddenly become The World's Most Dangerous Obstacle Course, and everyone knew how horribly the bluenette would manage to mangle himself by doing something simple. Like going up the stairs. Who knew what sorts of hospital bills he'd rack up by the time he reached the third step? In either case, the thunder died down and one solitary blue eye poked out from the mess of comforter, bed sheet and assorted other items. "...Alex, is it... you know... done yet?" Johnny did his best to sound unfazed but his heartbeat was just now starting to die down again. It looked like the storm had knocked out the power to the house, leaving it a warmly-lit and quiet home. Poking out his head, Johnny no doubt resembled an oddly-shaped hotdog. "I was just finishing the laundry and the vacuuming downstairs and then it had to be all LOUD. Scared the hell outta me..." It wasn't difficult to admit - Alex never judged him for being easily startled. "Hey Alex, whatcha workin' on? Are you like... super busy? Cuz if the storm keeps up an' I can't finish my cleaning then... um..." Johnny got quiet for a moment and shrunk back into his hobo tent of a home. "... could we, you know, watch a movie or somethin'... cuz I'd like that..."

Candles were just something he liked, and thus collected, but they did come in handy when power was lost which it looked like could happen any moment. Lightning again flashed, just as he was getting up, and the windows shook with thunder. It almost felt, and seemed, like the house was shaking as the wind blew and more thunder rumbled.
"No, it's not. I heard we were in for bad weather." But he hadn't heard how bad, he'd had no plans to go out into the rain so why pay attention to how bad it was supposed to be? "I believe it's going to go on for a while." Indeed, it did seem like the power was out, making his way to the bed he bent down in order to look at the taller teen. "I would tell you to keep a candle with you but I don't think that wise." And he was sure the house would find itself on fire soon after Johnathan took hold of a candle and went wandering off with it. No, he didn't trust Johnathan not to burn the house down and it wasn't him being harsh either.
Leaning in to hear the others mumbled, quietly, spoken words he nodded. "I can wait on the homework till later. I believe I have a portable dvd player. We'll only manage a movie or two, since the power seems to be out." And he wouldn't be able to charge the poor little player that was sorely underused, it had been used often times when on the way to some event, on the way home from one, or when bored during one while he was younger. It had simply come with him from his parents home to here and simply collected dust now. "I'll let you pick the movies." Since he doubted the movies he might pick would be Johnathan appropriate; sort of like child appropriate only different.

Alex was always the wise one. He knew it wouldn't be a good idea to let Johnny have control of an open flame. They'd be homeless in an instant. Therefore the boy stuck to what he was best at - keeping a house. Even if Alex minded the fact that Johnny insisted on doing everything he could, Johnny did it anyway. It took his mind of his parents and his father's worsening illness. His head popped up from his pill-bug shaped pile for a moment. "Well umm... I could help you with your homework first? Maybe? I mean I don't wanna take you away from 'portant stuff, Alex." Johnny shrank back down sheepishly. They went to different schools, took different classes. Azure Valley was more tech-oriented where the bluenette got to build neat things and learn about science whereas Alex? Alex was much more well-rounded and capable. Sometimes, when he stopped to think about it, Johnny got very anxious about his impending future. But for now, he was safe with the blonde. Another peal of thunder shook the windows and sent Johnny rolling for the floor. He landed in a plump pile of blankets near Alex's feet. His voice was muffled. "Um... well if you really wanna watch a movie then uh... well I can see if I can get some popcorn going or somethin' but we could do Kung Fu Hustle cuz I really like that movie and then whatever else you wanna watch!"

Where as Johnathan was capable in the areas of math and science, how this was Alexander had no clue, Alexandre was better in English, Math, and art (especially art). So the fact he'd been working on math homework almost had him asking the other for help just so he could get done with it, and then he'd watch a movie with the other, but he did prefer doing his homework on his won. It was his homework after all, not someone else's, and he was the one who'd be stuck when it came to exams. So he shook his head. "I'll finish my homework once the portable dvd players battery is dead. We can go watch a movie or two."
"Alright, but how about I handle the popcorn and you can get the movies." His way of telling the other to pick both movies without out right saying it. He knew if he out right said it that Johnathan would insist on Alexandre picking at least one of the movies, and he really wasn't sure most of his picks would be something the other would be interested in. So he'd deal with ninja movies, he kinda was used to it by now. Movies were one of the things which had come when Johnathan had arrived on his doorstep.

Johnny sighed. "Okaaaaaay. You pick the first movie and I'll pick Kung Fu Hustle! That's my favorite. I wanna learn all their cool moves so when I get my promotion, I can be all--" The blunette burst from his pillbug bedding and struck a pose. "WHOAOAAAAOAOOAOAOOAOAHIYA!" The back end of his karate chop sent Johnny reeling, his foot catching on the leg of Alex's chair. Johnny fell face-first into the carpet with a soft thump!. He turned his head. "Well, you know what I mean. Any extra ninja moves will help when we go out on missions, you know? Cuz we gotta kick lotsa butt to win the war and then everything'll go back to normal and we'll throw big ol' parties." Johnny suddenly sat up. "Man, I'm real hungry. Here Alex, I'll getcha one of your fave arty-farty movies. I'll try to follow the whole plot this time but you know they confuse me!" The bluenette shot up, tripped about seven more times on nothing in particular before reaching the DVD shelf. He plucked one case he knew Alex liked to watch frequently, and then his own movie selection. "This'll be awesome! We're in our jammies already so it'll be like... mega comfortable awesome popcorn sleepover~"

"You will make a fine ninja, do not rush it. It will come with training." And perhaps powering up to Captain. Johnathan had potential, he was dedicated and wanted to learn and do better, the main issue though was his lack of professional martial arts training and his energy level being through the roof. Perhaps he could find some martial arts class for the other and get him to enroll, he'd be willing to pay for it, it would surely help Johnathan in several ways. It was a thought to revisit in the morning and discuss with the bluenette.
"Surprise me and pick both movies, I'll get my things put away for now. I don't want you to have to keep up with a movie, you should pick ones you'll enjoy." And he really didn't want to know which of his movies Johnathan had just grabbed, Alexandre did have an interesting collection of movies that were kept in his room. The movies that everyone could, and would, watch were down in the living room; Johnathan's movies were down there. What one of Johnathan's movies was doing in his room he was clueless about, but who knows with Johnathan really. Closing his books he moved about his room blowing out his candles, save but one which he'd use to light his way downstairs. As he blew out candles, and listened to the other he shook with laughter, a hand rising up to cover his laughter up politely.
"Please don't get hurt. Also, I'm not one for large, extravagant, parties." At least not when drinking was concerned. He could handle a social party of the high end sort but a party with drinking and such...no, just not. "Well, your in your pajamas, I'll get changed into mine once the movies are over and I'm showed and ready to turn in for bed." For now he was still in jeans and a long sleeved shirt. "I assume though you'd prefer to sleep downstairs in the living room?" He questioned.

Johnny laughed sheepishly. "Alex, you think I can be a good ninja? You really mean it?" The boy turned away when his elder said he would have to change. "I mean,... you know I try real hard! Maybe I should... train some more! Yeah! I can do that. I'm real good at trying, yep!" The bluenette fidgeted a bit. He really and truly hoped he would one day be of use to his general. He wanted to train hard and forget all about the stress and pain in his civilian life. It was times like this when he could forget. He could forget and lay himself down at night and actually sleep. He laughed again when Alex asked where he would sleep that night. "You know me, Alex. I'll sleep on the kitchen floor if I hafta. But at least I know it's real clean! ...cuz I cleaned it myself!" When everything was said and done, Johnny whipped around and dashed for the DVD player, plopping in a secret DVD to surprise Alex. Johnny had found it while out shopping for groceries one day and forgot all about it. What Dreams May Come started to play. "How's about this, Alex?"

"I do think you would." And he wasn't lying. He did think he'd make as good a ninja as any American could make. Now seemed like a time to mention his idea, which he'd have preferred to discuss tomorrow. But now, with Johnathan's words, it seemed the better time. "Perhaps you should look into lessons. I will of course cover it. But lessons would help. I am not versed in martial arts and am unsure who is within our...group." He said slowly. He wasn't out to insult, belittle, or make Johnathan feel lesser. He didn't have such intentions for the bright eyed teen.
Shaking his head he followed him into the living room, watching as he went to pop some dvd into the player. "Well, you most certainly will never be sleeping on a kitchen floor. You have a room here. But do you plan for us to both fall asleep in the living room?" He asked before his attention was taken by the tv screen as the dvd came on.
"It's not a movie I've ever seen, I'm rather excited to see something new."

Johnny laughed and threw himself down on the couch, quickly snatching up bits of bedding and blankets to make a suitable nest. "OH HEY WAIT." he shot up, sending the nesting bits flying. "Alex, didju want some popco... oh wait, the power's out." Defeated, the bluenette sank back down into his pile of blankets and sighed, leaning on his companion. It was times like this when he didn't feel the ache of home. He didn't miss being afraid to talk to his father. Alex was easygoing and smart. In his presence, Johnny felt like he was capable of just about anything. Once the movie started, Johnny leaned back to make himself comfortable. "Weeeeellll, if nobody in the group's got martial arts experience... I'll just hafta go to those lessons but Aleeeeex, don't you go payin' for everything for me! I gotta, you know, grow up sometime... Speakin' of that, I need to get a job! I can get a job and go to school at the same time, right Alex? Would that help?" Now he'd gone and blabbed through part of the movie. Once he realized what he'd done, Johnny slapped his hands over his mouth.

Alexandre's attention was on Johnathan, not the movie, a he took in what the other was saying. Finally he burst out laughing and pat the others head. Grabbing the remote he hit pause. "There is a pause button for a reason; so you can talk. There is also a rewind button so we can see what we missed, no harm done. I don't mind you speaking your mind." He said with a smile in place, something gentle and showing how much he did indeed care for the other teen.
"Popcorn isn't something I'm a huge fan of, so no worries there unless you wanted some - if that's the case I'm afraid with the power out we're at a loss. As for lessons I'm more than happy to pay, I'll have to find a place or you can if you'd like. Just find one that is legit and will teach you well." He really didn't know what to look into to find a good, proper, place that wasn't just out to get peoples money. He wanted Johnathan to learn properly, and enjoy himself, not get hurt or learn some crap that wasn't even legit.
"You could get a job but you also keep yourself so occupied with the house, though I keep insisting you don't need to. I don't want you to over work yourself, you'll only suffer if you do that." He should know. Lily had taken him from his home, made him take a week off school, and sort himself out before he could go back to doing anything. He'd just...gotten too lost in everything and his organization of time had slipped from his tight grasp. He didn't want that happening to Johnathan.
"So if you want a job you'll have to stop doing so much around the house, let me take back some of the duties I've had. If we need to we'll work on a list of who does what and on what days." That way they both had set schedules of what and when and no one would do something the other had done and Johnathan couldn't clean the same thing every day so it sparkled.
"We can, if you want, properly discuss it all tomorrow and continue with the movie for tonight." Motioning to the little dvd player.

Johnny huffed and buried his face in the pile of blankets and pillows he'd amassed for himself on the bed. "But Alex, you know that's what I do! I cook n' clean n' all that stuff cuz mom has two jobs n' dad's unemployed cuz he's sick and so somebody had to do all the housework... n' everything." Johnny sighed, oozing out of his nest of blankets just a little, like the weight of the world was temporarily on his back. "...but it turns out I'm real good at it n' dad always said I needed somethin' to focus on so when I'm not doin' my paper stuff, then I clean stuff and then other people benefit! Like you!" The blue haired boy smiled up at his superior, the movie forgotten for now. "Cuz... I mean who wants to come home to a nasty house? And besides, I know you're real busy Alex, so I like makin' sure dinner's ready when you get home, you know? General's gotta eat n' keep your strength up so you n' me can keep kickin' butt for the Negaverse, right?" Johnny made a silly face and gave Alex a cheesy thumbs' up. He had the utmost faith in his general and wanted to do everything he could to support the blonde. "You know I don't help around the house cuz I feel like I gotta, Alex. I do it to help you out and it's like... one less thing to worry about, you know?" Johnny nodded to himself a few times. "I mean, and then when I promote, then I can help more! I'm gonna do my best, I promise!"

"I know that's how things were, I do understand." And he did, how could he not? He'd heard the story and he lived with Johnathan cleaning, and cooking, and playing house wife really. It was very odd at first, it felt like they were playing house in some way. Banishing those thoughts, before he could shudder over it, he turned his attention back to the other. "You don't need to do everything here though. I like to take care of things as well." Even if he had a lot on his plate already, he figured he'd eventually fry out and need a break from everything. Maybe a vacation of sorts, get away from everything aside from Cadha (he was not about to leave his dog in someone elses care).
"I like that you help, I do, but you also need to do things outside of the house, outside of school, and outside of duty. Like taking karate lessons - I think you'll enjoy that and maybe make more friends." He didn't want to get rid of the other, far from it, but he did want him to gain more friends and get a life - he seemed to need it really.
Laughing he nodded and reached forward to ruffle the others shorter hair. "Indeed, we must keep strong, and we will. I can make dinner as well, I do enjoy it." One of the firs things he'd done, when Johnathan had mentioned wanting to cook meals, was show him into the green house and point out the herbs he had growing. He would get some fruits, he already had a few vegetables, growing come spring and summer. He was lucky he didn't need to worry as much in the fall and winter about his plants and parasites and such. Damn....if he took a vacation he'd need someone to care for them....maybe his mother would be able to stop by? That was a bridge to cross when he came to it, not before hand or at least not this far before hand.
"I know you will, your already doing well. You'll promote soon I'm sure, you already make me proud. And if your going to take karate let me take some of the house work onto my shoulders. I want you to focus on the lessons and enjoy them. Alright? You take karate and I'll handle a little more here. You handle the house so I can focus on what I need to, it's time that we find a balance so we both focus on outside things and tend to the house." He hoped the other understood, he was trying to help him gently get him out there to explore and try and do new things. He knew he was looking to take more onto his shoulders, no more though than he'd had before Johnathan had moved in, but he could handle it if it would help the other.
This really felt like some couple just moving in together. How come he felt like such an adult? He'd been slowly feeling more and more like this, taking to a new older and more mature role. Or at least it felt like this to him.
"Johnathan...what sort of martial arts would you take anyway? I know there are multiple types, or forms is it?" He really was clueless about this sort of thing.

Karate or some kind of martial arts sounded a lot of fun, and probably very useful! Alex was right - it was a good idea to take up some kind of martial art. Or some kind of training in general. The Negaverse was serious business and the last thing they all wanted was for the senshi to get the upper hand because officers didn't want to take the next step. Well, Johnny was more than ready to take the next step! He just wasn't sure what that step was. "Well umm... do they text ninjutsu?! I could totally take that! Learn how to vanish in the darkness and bam SURPRISE! just jump on people! And do whatever else ninjas do! Ninjas do a lot of cool stuff in movies. I wanna learn how to do that!" Johnny laughed and shook his head with determination. "I've seen Zinkenite once or twice. He's a damn good ninja! I wanna be like him, but you know... like me too. Be my own version of him! I just dunno what kinda martial arts that would be besides like... kickbutt-jutsu. I dunno. I guess we'd have to do some research?" While Johnny wasn't opposed to having Alex take up more of the responsibilities around the house, he still felt guilty about it. "We'll figure it out, Alex. And... well... I like you a whole lot. You're my best friend. I would like to meet more people though! Especially Negaverse people, but you'll always be my General."
