She hadn't long grown into her wings, hitting true adulthood by the common standard Oota had yet to even fully test out her potential. Instead she spent most of her time away from everyone, practising her paddling and holding her breath. Until now however her adolescent state had kept her confined to her own herd lands, it hadn't bothered her too much there was enough bodies of water. Though now the thought had occurred to her, she could leave, not on a permanent basis or rather that wasn't her intentions for now.
So that is exactly what she'd done, she'd crossed the invisible boarder and travelled, to where she wasn't quite sure. The spot had caught her eye, it was a large body of water, she had no expectations other than merely practice somewhere near. It had grass, berries, shade and the she couldn't see the end of the water so she had to assume it got deep at some point. At this point it took her no flick of adrenaline she merely charged straight in sending water flying all over and allowing it to splatter over her body.

It was this day that she found herself flying scanning for a bed of water when the clear and refreshing lake caught her eye. It didn't take her long to lower herself down and skip to get a drink, she knew this lake, or rather recognized it, meaning she was still within herd territory. She did not however recognize the mare who seemed to be splashing out having a merry time a good distance into the depth of the water. At first she was worried, she did not know of land walkers like herself who had a way with water, then she calmed herself just because she had been warned of the dangers of what could happened when Lyra's, like herself, wings got wet. This other could be experienced, plus they did look like they where having fun, it was with a smile that she called out to greet the stranger "Good day! Looks like you are having fun there."

Oota hadn't put her mind to any particular task when the voice called out she was just messing about and having fun. With a squint she moved herself to face the voice and decided it was best to get closer, she was a big girl now, though not trained as a warrior or any real knowledge how to use her wings she could run...
Getting a good look at the other star she confirmed it was another female, with wings like her but no horns. The other wore nothing beside her own markings, unlike herself who had numerous pieces of jewellery, her necklace glistening with water droplets as it caught the sun. Already in a good mood Oota greeted the other with a smile of her own assuming that if they where talking and there had no move for attack yet there probably wasn't going to be one.
"Good day to you too! It's real nice today huh? Was just enjoying a paddle!" She chuckled, stating the obvious "Good depth of water here I'm thinking" Stopping she peered behind her pondering for a moment before returning to the mare and conversation "Going to be a good day, yes yes!"

Keeping steady as the other came towards her splashing here and there Peren could feel the instincts to run. It was odd even after all this time she did feel safe in the herd lands but her time here had taught her never to expect anything. The stars of her herd where full of surprises and as the other mare got closer she confirmed this was defiantly someone new. The purple mare was glad that she had stayed calm and not flinched as the other reached her and spoke she too was reassured there was no sign of an attack.
"It is indeed a beautiful day" She nodded as she looked behind her at the water, not missing the wistful look in the others eyes. "I have not really experimented with water though I have met a creature who lived and breathed it." Keeping up her smile she caught herself and remembered her manners "I apologize I have not introduced myself, I am Peren."

Oota's mind was already dreaming of trying the depths of the water, submerging herself further than ever before. Luckily she was still paying enough attention to catch the others words, with a nod to agree about the day her eyes went wide at the next part. Galloping much closer she leaned in and kept her voice low "You met a water horse too?" she was genuinely excited. Since her meeting with her mysterious water horse she had spoken of it to no other, for mostly she had not socialized with many. Also it was her little secret, she'd taken the desire to enter his world and that was enough, but this mare spoke of meeting one too.... could it be... the same one?

Finding herself completely knocked out of step Peren again had to keep herself calm as the other got even closer. Even as she leaned in she stayed steady without a single flinch and waiting to hear what had made the other mare act so strangely... or rather more strangely than before. Opening her mouth to speak she had to think for a moment, had it been such a rare meeting? It had felt so at the time, and true she had not met another Nova since, it seemed this other had a similar experience.
"I have, a nova from our herd in fact, I am not sure how many we have within these boarders, though who knows? The moonlight herd has many surprises I still learn about every day." With a chuckle Peren nodded then leaned down to casually grab a quick drink, and make a little space between the stranger she still did not know the name of.

"A male too! What did he look like?" Oota was unaware but her cheeks had formed a blush and her stomach seemed to rush with excitement at the current topic of conversation. Her water horse was a male, who was not from her herd...
"Wait, you said Moonlight herd? Oh! I'm not in my herd any more then" She chuckled, not entirely surprised as she had gone for an explore and had no particular destination in mind. It was quite possible she had wandered into another herd, and hadn't her mother mentioned something about a near by herd called the Moonlight? Also something was niggling at her memory, what was it...

Perens head came up to give the other a look over, she seemed utterly infatuated with the idea of the water horse, what had his name been? It had been quite a long time ago, she remembered with a grin at her new born self and the mystery of a creature so unlike her yet also so similar. "Indeed, let me think, I've only come by him once.... I remember a creamy white, with yellow and a strange metal contraption on his back... Oh and the horn, it reminded me of my fathers." Now it was Peren's turn to chuckle, how young and naive she had been, not that she was truly matured yet but she had certainly come a long way.
Blinking she stared at the other, she was not from her herd, yet she had been able to enter with no issues, did this mean she was welcome here? How could that be if she had never been here before, or had she? Peren didn't know all that much about her, with a flick of her wings she decided it was not her place to think over it too much. Though... "May I inquire as to what your herd is? I only know of family who travel from outside...." And then she caught herself as her wind swivelled... she did have a tendency to engage in conversation with strangers who turned out to be relatives....

"Thats him! You saw my water horse too!" Bouncing on the spot she splashed Peren without realising so. Oota was very excited to have finally met someone else who had seen him, not that she ever doubted herself but it seemed to cement everything within her. It was almost as if a wash of relief travelled her being, all her practising meant she'd be ready next time she saw him, and as she'd grown quite some time ago she felt elated at the idea.
"Have you been practising too?" She raised an eyebrow trying to be discreet, maybe he was teaching all the stars he met, maybe it wasn't just her....

"Uh... I am sorry I have no idea what you are talking about. Practising?" Peren hadn't missed the lack of answering her question and she honestly had no idea what this other mare was referring to when mentioning practising. The did seem very excited though, but Peren was finding herself feeling quite awkward, she was being as open as possible but learning very little.

"Ah.... Never mind then!" And that was that, the topic seemed to be brushed off and left to sink in the water surrounding Oota. She had no interest in sharing her secret hobby but it did make her feel special, he may of offered others like her to learn to swim, but not this Peren.
"My herd is the Dreamers Glass, lead by Helki, my mother... not that I'm interested in all that herd stuff is rather dull." It was truly like she'd buried the previous topic and her attention sharply re focused on those she had missed in her previous haze.

"Helki? Oh!" And Perens mouth formed a viable 'o' as yet again she seemed to be in the presence of another siblings, this mare acted a lot young than herself however. Thinking for a moment Peren worked through the siblings she knew of, step, half, and by mateage of other kinds. This mare couldn't honestly be older than her could she? And Gloss certainly was, and the only breeding her father had participated in was with his new mate, wasn't it? Yes this couldn't be a blood sibling to her, but through other siblings she was.
"Your mother has children with my father, before me that is, that makes us siblings, of a sort, every day a new surprise." And then she felt herself relax and chuckle. This was the first time she'd met a sibling or relative outside of the herd, she was certainly strange but then who was Peren to deem what was normal?

"Your my sort of sibling?" Oota looked the other mare with a raised brow, how did that even work, no wait she sort of explained about them being sort of siblings. "So your dad and my mother like each other then?" She asked out of pure naivety. Oota wasn't sure if her mother loved her father or if it was a herd thing to just mate. In fact Oota didn't have any real grasp on love, no-one had ever sat down and explained the concept to her, let alone the feelings that bubbled in her stomach and fluttered about her being. To others it must be obvious but her... she really had no clue.
The sibling thing was kinda interesting, something she noted then found herself looking back at the water, she really just wanted to be in there right now. She did remember something about being polite, though usually she didn't have to apply such lectures today in another's herd seemed a good time to pay them mind.

"I would say they are friends, as I said it was before I, and my fathers mate now is not my mother." She nodded the once to add emphasis. Normally she was fine with that, she was happy for her father and it was no business of hers but she miss the idealism that her currently half siblings had. To have a mother and father high on the currents of love as they raised their children, was she a different mare for not having it? There was no way to know, but perhaps her mother would come to the herd to stay, she enjoyed her visits however far apart they seemed to get.
Like Oota, Peren had no real knowledge of love, what it would feel like just that she knew it was possible. For her father DID have it now, but it was not something that could be come across like say an Apple. Just like that as she thought of food her stomach grumbled, she hadn't missed the longing look in the other eyes either. It was time to make an exit perhaps she would come back again "Hey I was thinking of grabbing some apples or berries, would you like me to get you some?"

"Ah..." It was all she could think to say, that part of the conversation was well beyond her grasps of understanding and frankly it seemed boring to try figure it out. Friends was enough for her, she was pretty sure that's what her mother and father where, just friends. Was that all that was needed to bring new life into this world? Maybe it was but it was a boring topic for boring grown ups right up there with herd stuff.
Perhaps one day she'd care for it, but that day was not today or rather it was not this moment, half distracted with the idea of going to her escape and thoughts she almost missed Peren's words. "Sure, I could eat.. buuuut for now I'm going to go for a swim, suns hot, phew!"
