So you adopted or you got yourself a rumbuncious little devil of cotton ball fluff that will terrorize the house in the months (if not years to come). What goes into caring for a cat? What are the initial start up prices? And what does he need to be a happy cat?

Owning a cat doesnt need to be exspensive. smile There is alot of DIY ideas, cheap household things you can do to entertain the feline, and are generally easy to care for.

The Price of owning a Cat: Start up Costs

Before taking the kitty home, wither it be an adopted or a purchase, think ahead of what you will need. Consider the questions that are important to owning a feline and its care. Take into consideration your budget, your living situation and make sure it is cleared with all your house mates. smile

The Rundown

These are the musts for when kitty comes home.

Litterbox: 6~12$ depending on style and size.
Food Bowls: 1~10$ depending on style and size
Kitty Litter: 5$+
Food: 5~20$ depending on type and size (in pounds)

Spay/Neuter: 30~300$ depending on where you go and gender of cat
Shots: 100+ depending on age of cat and the vet

Generally 50$ will get you the basics and you can always grow the list to more after you bring your kitty home. smile

The Monthly Rundown

This will vary on the owner, the type of cat, and what exactly you do for your kitty. smile This is an average look at buying the essetials on a monthly basis. It does not include toys, vet visits or extra costs.
