His head was pounding.

He felt like he'd been asleep for years, though from what he was being told it was more accurately months. He merely sat where he was told in the room, elbows on his knees and head in his hands, trying to knead, wipe and will away all of the groggy feelings that were currently plaguing him. The blonde boy was trying really hard to listen to the Tech that woke him up, but mornings never were his strong suit.

Luckily he got the gist; he was being given a second (or at this rate, third or fourth) chance as a Hunter, and this was the last one. Even a person who hated mornings with a burning passion could get that particular message.

Don't ******** Up.

It was harder to do than it sounded.

Eventually he was left alone, and he took the time to slump even further, practically folding himself in half with his knuckles on the floor between his feet. He had a lot to think about; he knew he had been severely lacking, and he didn't know why they even bothered to wake him up in the first place...but they did, and he wasn't going to waste this second (or third, or fourth) chance. Something about his time in the pod made him smarten up; it made him want to be here. He needed to be here, to stay alive. No longer could he afford to do what he had been doing; he couldn't dwell on the loss of his brother, and he couldn't be swallowed up by his mourning. Dean was gone, but he was still here; besides, his brother would kick his a** if he knew he was on the way to giving up everything they had fought for.

So, it was time to fight again. To put that White-and-Gold coat on, to take up his...ugh, weapon, and to get out there. Live. Save people.

But first? He had to get over this god damned headache.

And get food. Damn he was hungry.

Sleeper pod duty wasn’t something Molly minded at all. Molly didn’t mind much though. She took whatever she was handed with a smile, because that was her job and she always wanted to do her best. Since sleeper pod duty wasn’t usually uh…eventful, the young woman had taken to knitting while on duty, as a way to pass the time, and by her side was a hot thermos full of hot chocolate for…you know…incase someone did wake up while she was on duty.

It was a nice gesture, or so she hoped, but this shift would soon be coming to a close, and like all others, it would seem uneventful once again. Another day of finishing the hot chocolate all on her own…or so she thought. Molly was packing up her yarn and needles when one of the techs seemed to be moving about for something…

Curls bounced as Molly’s head perked up in interest, shouldering her bag and carrying her thermos gingerly in her hands as she watched the tech go about their business. Eventually they settled again after some time, and Molly was curious as to what…or who, hopefully, they were dealing with. She could go look, right? Molly looked nervous, looking back and forth before she decided that she’d take the chance and go look, since whoever or whatever the tech had been dealing with hadn’t come out yet. She moved as quietly as she could, as to not be obnoxious and headed in the direction that the tech came from.

Imagine her surprise as she came across a young man, not in a pod and not…sleeping? She hoped. He wasn’t moving though, and that was disconcerting. Molly hesitated, biting her lip, before the overwhelming desire to make sure he was okay took over. She approached then, shifting her thermos to one hand, and reached out to place her other hand on the young man’s shoulder. She kept it there for a moment before she started to rub his back in what she hoped was a soothing gesture.

Good morning!” While her voice was hushed, it was still terribly cheerful.

Jeremy heard the young woman's footsteps, but in his groggy misery didn't move. Waking up needed to die a thousand deaths...but the hand on his shoulder was nice. It felt like an eternity since he had real contact, and that back rub? Heaven. He seemed to melt under her hand, somehow slouching lower to the ground. This was nice. This wasn't threatening, and it didn't even bother him when she broke the silence.

"Good Morning." He repeated just as quietly, trying to sound just as cheerful but...mornings. Despite the pleasantries being given he had very little interest in getting up, not while she was rubbing his back so nicely. "I've never seen your feet before. What's your name?" Somehow, he had a feeling that he had a LOT of new people to meet and remember and things.

Oh whew, he wasn’t bothered by her hand! Some people on the island seemed ah…hesitant about that kind of stuff. Since he didn’t bother to get up, Molly kept her hand on his back, continuing to rub it comfortingly. In the meantime she shifted, moving to sit beside him while rubbing his back, giggling softly. “I haven’t seen your feet before either! I really like your converses! Those are the it shoes right now with the kids, right? I’m Molly! Mist Division…” From the way he spoke, though, it seemed like…this wasn’t his first time waking up? Maybe.

What’s your name, Mr. Converses…and OH! I have some hot chocolate that is still hot, I promise, would you like some?”

The backrub continued and Jeremy was still in heaven. He liked it here, he decided. Her comment on his shoes made him laugh, and he shook his shaggy blonde head between his knees. "Well thanks, I'm fond of them too! I hear they're all the rage everywhere." Which was of course a total lie, as he had been pod-bound for nearly a year. Old habits died hard, apparently.

"Molly." Jeremy repeated thoughtfully, but lifted up his right hand regardless, looking for a handshake without sitting up for it. "Nice to meet you Molly, I'm Jeremy, and I would love hot chocolate even if it wasn't hot. Do you happen to have some food too? I'm hungry."

Oh they are?” Molly echoed. Did she believe it now, out of a young man who more than likely just woke up from the pod? Yep. “I mean…I can see why…they’re really neat! I have a green pair, actually…” She trailed off, before shaking her head a bit. Not important!

Jeremy ~ !” She repeated, smiling widely. “It’s so good to meet you!” At his seeking hand, Molly stopped rubbing his back to reach out and take it, holding his hand firmly within her own and giving it a firm shake. “Alright!” She chirped, and immediately set to work undoing the top of the thermos and pouring him a cup. “I do, actually! I have breakfast bars and rice crispy treats…but if you want something more nutritious and warm, you should go to the cafeteria…I can go with you if you’d like!”

She placed the thermos near her, holding the cup in one hand and reached to rest her hand across his back and on his shoulder, helping to ease him up. “Here you are, Jeremy.” She offered the cup to him.

"Green's a good colour, too. Colour of money and trees and we all know they're the same thing." The blonde's head moved like he was nodding, but not very well because he insisted on being a folding chair. While he liked handshaking, he was also very sad that it made her stop rubbing his back, something he made a note to correct later. He had to make friends with the backrubber named Molly. He just had to.

"No, they sound good. Especially the rice crispies. Nothing says healthy like a big ol' bite of sugary delicious after a few months of sleeping!" Molly guided him to sit up and Jeremy did as she wanted him to, but he sighed as if the world was ending while doing it. Of course sitting up had his advantages, such as finally seeing this mysterious Molly who was not only feeding him, but unwittingly his professional backrubber from here until eternity. She was a bigger girl, wasn't she? But she had a pretty face, and nice hair...

Not bad, really.

"Thank you, Molly." He said cheerfully enough as he took the cup from her, though he was pretty sure he looked like hell. "You know, this is the first drink I've had in almost a year?" Yes, acknowledge out loud how terrible of a Hunter you were probably still are. Thirst took over and he downed the hot chocolate...

...and then started gagging when it burned the inside of his mouth.

Good job, Jeremy.

But if money grew on the trees, then we’d be in business, right Jeremy?” Molly smiled widely. She liked saying ‘Jeremy’. It rolled off the tongue rather nicely. When the young man finally did sit up, the Mist trainee was beaming brightly at him and tilted her head as she took a moment to get a good look at him. Aww. Poor Jeremy. He didn’t look so…fresh, she supposed, but sleeping in those pods for over a year tended to do that, right? They weren’t exactly comfortable, after all! He had tanned skin like Jude though…really fun hair and pretty eyes.

After he took the cup from her, Molly couldn’t fight the urge, so she reached up with her now free hand and brushed some hair away from his eyes and face. She then fussed with some other bits of hair and smoothed them down gently. “You know what you remind me of, Jeremy?” She asked with a laugh. “A dandelion!” She giggled, bringing her hand up to her lips. “I’m sorry, I hope that isn’t rude…I just think it’s…adorable!” Molly then fished through her bag for the promised rice crispy treats, not paying attention to the Hunter who was downing the hot chocolate.

Oh, it is? Well I’m gla—“ Her head snapped up as the young man gagged, and immediately she looked horrified. “Oh my gosh, are you okay!? Jeremy, it was hot, you poor thing! Here—“ She just so happened to have a bottle of water in her bag, and she pulled it out, offering it to him. Molly packed everything. She was one of the soccer moms of Deus.

"Technically they're one in the same! Trees make paper, paper makes money, ergo, trees make money." Jeremy said matter-of-factly, grinning at the girl he could now see, even a little against his will. He wanted more backrubs, please! Though the fussing was nice, he had to admit. This Molly chick had quite the Motherly feel to her, didn't she? Odd for someone so young...but he wasn't complaining. He got back pats and hair touches, though a realization of the latter made him cringe.

"E-er...probably not the best idea...I haven't showered in almost a year, either." He didn't feel dirty, but the idea was just gross. He liked to be clean, okay? He shook his head when she asked if he knew what he reminded her of, and honestly laughed when she gave her answer. "Oh god no, I don't think that's rude! Nobody's ever called me that before!"

And then he did something stupid and he was choking. Some of the hot chocolate was spat out but most of it ended up down his throat, burning the whole way down; it was enough to make the would-be Hunter double over again, this time holding his throat.

It was a miracle he'd survived this long, but he imagined death by hot chocolate wasn't the worst way to go...

When it was over he had his mouth open and tongue out, fanning it with his hand and looking all around pathetic. The water was eagerly accepted and just as eagerly downed, quite enjoying the soothing rush of a cool liquid. The bottle was empty by the time he took a breath and he slumped back a bit, flopping almost like a ragdoll.

"Well that was fun." He mused, sticking his tongue out and making test bites with his teeth. Yup, nice and tingly. "Dang, that was stupid." Jeremy whined, putting the empty bottle on his lap to cover his eyes with the heels of his palms.

And in front of the pretty girl, too!

Molly hummed, thinking over that point. Well. She couldn’t disagree with it. “You’re right!” She chirped, smiling. “But if only stores would accept tree bark or leaves as payment, then, we would be in business!” Molly still didn’t seem deterred by the fact that he hadn’t showered in over a year. Just to check, she leaned in close and took a sniff. The Mist trainee hummed a bit. “…You’re fine!” She assured, smiling, and nodded her head a bit, curls bouncing. “Oh good, I’m glad!” Dandelion was really cute though…and he really did look like one.

The Mist trainee waited patiently as Jeremy tended to his poor tongue, watching him down that bottle with wide eyes. “W-wozers!” She breathed. He must have been really thirsty…and his tongue must have been really on fire. When the young man slouched over again, Molly’s hand came back up to start rubbing his back again. “It’s okay!” She assured once more cheerfully, but then looked worried. “…I’m really sorry! I should have blown on it first, huh!? Or else warned you! Oh…” Her lips pulled into a frown, now mentally chastising herself for being so inconsiderate.

Also realizing that she had indeed fished out a rice crispy treat, she gingerly placed it on his lap next to the empty bottle. “Here you go too…I hope it helps…”

"We'd be laughin' then!" He agreed, but in the back of his mind he was working out a barter system using tree bark...did tree bark have any real value to it? It didn't seem very edible.

"Yup, all a-ok! Ten points! Hurraaaah~" He raised his arms in a V for victory, and then cupped his hands around his mouth for the hurraaaah, to cheer hoarsely as though others were cheering for him. Perhaps he had spent a little too much time in the pods...

"...wowzers?" Molly was given quite the baffled stare, brows raised so high they nearly disappeared into his mass of hair. He thought about her use of the word, and the fact she seemed to have everything he needed at the moment...and came to a conclusion. "If I'm a dandelion, you're Inspector Gadget." 'wowzers' was one of Gadget's favourite things to say... As she started to fret he raised a hand in dismissal, but it was pretty half hearted since she was rubbing his back again.

Oooohhhhh~

"No no, I should have known Hot Chocolate was hot." Jeremy murmured, picking at the wrapper to the rice crispy treat but otherwise doing nothing. Back ruuuubssss.... "You have magic hands. Can we be friends, Inspector?"

You have such great enthusiasm, Jeremy!” Molly cheered, appreciating his little whoop of victory and cheer. Did she think he was crazy from being in the pods for too long? Naaah.

The mist trainee smiled at him sheepishly, one hand coming up to rub the back of her neck as he gave her a baffled look. “Sorry!” She quickly apologized. “I like the word…it rolls off the tongue really nicely…!” She then giggled a bit nervously, before outright laughing at his comment. “Inspector Gadget, huh?” She echoed, amused. “I wish I was as awesome as he was!” Back rubs it was. Molly kept it up, since it seemed to make him feel better, and at his question, a surprised look crossed her face before it was replaced with pure delight.

Really?” She breathed, dreadfully excited. “I would love to be your friend! So much!” So easy to please.

"I try, I try." Jeremy chuckled. "And yes, Inspector Gadget. He liked saying wowzers too!" It seemed she at least knew who that was, which was good...but maybe she might've forgotten his almost near-constant use of the word. "Well you're on your way...what else is in that bag?" A bag that had drinks and food - and yarn? - was bound to have more awesome things.

"Oh good. Friends then! My first friend in my new start...so congrats, I guess." If Jeremy had any feline genetics he would be purring, but in lieu of that he was just speaking in slow content. "...Hey can you quit being a Hunter and just...rub my back forever?" He murmured, resisting every urge to just flop across her lap and pull his hoody up over his head. It was difficult, but he managed. "...And hey, speaking of friends...is a Hunter named Ariane Brown still alive?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 15, 2012 7:12 pm

Mmm…you’re right, he did ~ !” Molly replied after a thoughtful moment. It had been a long time since she had seen the show…but she could recall it now. “My bag…? Oh um…” She thought about it. “My planner, some pens, breakfast bars, rice crispy treats, another bottle of water…some band aids and bandages—don’t worry, they’re not the special kind from the life labs—yarn, my knitting needles, a crossword book…some paper clips…the second Lord of the Rings book, a pair of socks…” She paused. “I think that’s it for now!”

She smiled brightly, not that the hunched over young man could see it. “Yay me!” She cheered, and then laughed. “If I could Jeremy, I would ~ ! But anytime you want your back rubbed, you can just stop on by…I’m in room one-fourteen! Anytime, alright? I don’t mind at all!” Anything she could do to help, really. At his question, she hummed thoughtfully. “Ariane…ah, yes! I know her…well…um…it’s been a few months since I was last on a duty with her…but…I haven’t heard her name associated with anything bad…” So that was good, right?

If he were sitting upright, Molly would have been treated with a wide eyed look of complete surprise that seemed to get wider the more items she prattled off. So much...and in one bag? Whoa...she was able to pack very well! What a woman!

"Whoaaaa. What did you do with the kitchen sink?" He inquired, quickly losing his wide-eyed stare to the floor as the backrub continued. Eeeeeeeeeeeee so comforting ahhhhh never end never end... Wait what was that? "...I'm in One-Seventeen! You're not getting rid of me now." He warned, and as she went on to explain about Ariane he found himself sighing heavily.

"Good...I'm glad to hear that." His voice trailed off a little bit, and with a heavily grudging sigh he sat up and away from the backpat. "...Should probably go find my room again." Nooooo he wanted more backpats...
