Wicka stared at the words on the page. Tiny black letters started to blend together and he had to blink multiple times before they righted themselves. Sighing he ran a hand through his brown hair. Hogwart's History couldn't be more boring... He tried and failed to read the same line he had been staring at for about twenty minutes.

With a frown he looked at the window that was his sole light source. It was one of those high up windows and it was simply a weird shape... long and rectangular instead of he large bay windows he was used to looking out of in Yorkshire. Wicka sighed and shook his head trying to physically put his mind back on the right tract. He had to finish this homework before he went to bed. He glanced out the window. Well at least he had about 4 hours for that.

His green eyes drifted around the common room. If he knew where Kennedy was he would go bug him... but he was probably in the music room. And Wicka wouldn't step foot in that small hellish classroom. His eyes wandered of the other students mentally categorizing them. Prep... Nerd... Snob... He smirked. What he needed was a good fist fight.

Wicka had been trained in fighting. It was a good way to blow off some steam. Now he just needed a willing target. Mentally thinking about all the people within hearing range, he slammed his book shut and gave a dejected sigh. Casting a quick glance up he saw some students looking at him. He huffed and propped his head on a hand and looked at his book.... Now to wait. If no one came over... he would heave another long sigh. With his face turned away from the common room he smirked.

Wicka wasn't the only one struggling with his homework, though Rory may have been having a bit better luck than the other boy. He was sitting in a spot, away from everyone else, where the light was coming through the high window. He had a piece of parchment held against his book, scribbling notes here and there as he read.

Normally he would be outside, attempting to blow off some steam, but he had put homework to the side too much and he needed to get the assignment done. Especially if he wanted to try to work on his potions homework later on, probably after most of the others had gone to bed.

He looked up from his book and noticed the other boy looking around the room and smirking. He glared over at him before turning back to his own book. He tried to go back to his reading and note taking but was interrupted by the loud slamming of a text book.

He looked over and noticed the other boy now sitting with his book closed, facing away from the rest of them. He glared at the other boy and sneered, "Can we help you?"

Kennedy waited, patiently if he did say so himself. He was just about ready to heave another sigh when he heard a voice. And it didn't sound too happy. Taking his time to compose the smile on his face into a sneer, he flashed a glare at his new opponent.

"What? You hearing voices or something? Exactly how many of you are there?" He narrowed his glare and raised an eyebrow in sarcasm. He couldn't help the mean smile that pressed its way back onto his face.

He turned his gaze to the boy's book. It looked like a history book. Jumping carelessly to that conclusion he pressed on. "Plus it doesn't look like you can do your homework any better then I can." He shrugged. He had just successfully called the boy crazy... AND stupid. With all the grace of the snake that represented his house,Wicka stood. He swiped his book carefully in his arms.

It was his attempt at looking defenseless. Rule one in a fight... never let your opponent know that you know how to fight until you are fighting. His green eyes couldn't hide the challenge that was burning in his eyes.

At the other boy's comment, Rory's blue eyes blazed. At the glare he received from the boy at the table, he returned a cold smile.

"Oh so you aren't deaf then. Must be blind then, not to notice your book closed," he grinned before turning his attention away from the boy at the table and back to his history book and notes.

He continued his reading and note taking until he heard the boy (what was his name, Rory was sure he had heard of him before) speak up again. His eyes blazed once against as he felt his snake slide up his leg. With another cold smile, the blond boy held up his parchment.

"Well, I must be able to do it better than you," he replied and glanced at the table; he didn't see any parchment or quills near Wicka (that was his name!). "Though I assume that's probably because of poor vision; I'm sorry."

Wicka almost smiled. Almost. His green eyes looked the boy over. They were about the same size. He would enjoy pummeling him. His eyes shot up and he literally laughed out loud. "Im sure you heard me close my book" His gaze traveled lightly around the room and back to the other boy.

He was trying to place the boy's face to a name. It didn't take him long to realize he didn't really care. He moved then, toward the other boy. "Ok smarty pants... What exactly did the four founders fight over when they first built this castle... " He smirked. There was no real answer... He knew what he thought it could be... it probably wasn't right but he would make this boy say that he was right before the sun set...three hours and forty five minutes to go.

He waited all of five seconds before pressing on. With out hesitation he dropped his book on the desk in front of the boy letting it bang loudly."Oh, im sorry...I i didn't know you were just a good for nothing mud-blood. The fact that you don't have that answer ready on hand..." He shrugged. "Just proves what a stupid mud-blood you are." Out of the corner of his eye he saw a petite girl run off to find someone to intervene. He would have to push harder... He never threw the first punch but he sure as hell threw the last one.

While Wicka was sizing him up, Rory took the opportunity to size up his housemate. They were about the same size so he was nearly eye to eye with him. "Yeah," he grinned, "you made sure of that, didn't you?"

Rory bristled again when the other Slytherin doubted his ability to remember the history of the castle that they were being forced to study. "They fought over not allowing idiot mud-bloods like you into this school," he stated proudly, "Salazar had the right idea in mind. You muds are a disgrace."

Rory laughed as the boy dared to insult him. His eyes flashed with rage as he sent his fist flying straight for the other boy's nose.

Wicka gave a half heated shrug."Of course..." His eyes blazed as the other boy answered is question anyway. He would have been proud of the other boy if he hadn't been on the other end of the retort... He actually probably would have liked the other if he hadn't taken the bait so easily.

With almost a dejected sigh he moved his eyes back to the other boy just in time to see the other boys muscles bunch. He was almost surprised it took so little to make the other boy shoot a punch.

He smirked and moved just enough that the blow just barely grazed his cheek and then he dropped putting all his weight on his right foot. That freed up his left foot so he could try to knock the boy right on his rear.

When Wicka managed to avoid the brunt of his fist, the punch just grazing his cheek, Rory sneered. He had made contact and made his point; that was all that mattered.

He brought his arm back down to his side and turned to walk away to go back to the spot he had claimed as his; he needed to finish the reading after all.

When he felt something (or should he say, someone) hit him in the behind, he turned sharply back towards his housemate. So he wanted to play, huh? Rory quickly balled up his fist again, this time sending it towards Wicka's gut.

Wicka smirked. That had gotten his attention. No one walked away from Wicka Clayoquot! He saw it coming and judging the other boy as someone not to hesitate to throw a hard punch he wasn't going to let him hit him full on. He would have to be more creative that to simply throw punches. Wicka caught the boy's fist. It was one of those tricks he learned early on. Make your opponent incapable of moving and you win...

"Now that wasn't nice." He grinned "I tend to like my body unbruised." With a harsh laugh he pushed the boy from him. The other part to that trick was if they could still move they could still fight... and Wicka didn't want this fight to end just yet.

He smirked and spread his feet to get a good fighting like stance before he launched his own fist toward the other boy's gut. A punch for a punch... He thought it was only fair.

Rory winced as the other boy grabbed his fist, though he tried not to let his discomfort show. It would not do him any good to show weakness; it was bad enough that he had been so easily goaded into the fight in the first place.

The blond stumbled back as the Native American boy pushed him, "If you prefer your body to go unbruised, maybe you shouldn't instigate a fight that WILL leave you bruised. Still not so smart, huh?"

He glared at the other boy and grabbed the fist that was thrown towards him with both hands, wincing again as the punch made contact first causing a painful strain his wrists with the force.

He learned fast. Wicka nodded in acceptance of that fact."Nah... Just win the fights i start." He shook his head. He was caught. He contemplated his moves. It only took a matter of seconds however the things that passed through his mind felt sluggish. He had hold of his right hand in both his hands... so that left his face open for assault by his left fist. Or, he could sweep the boy's feet out from under him.

Wicka pondered his possibilities and then chose which felt better to him.Wicka vouched for the left hook. His arm flew out toward the boys face.

Rory didn't have the chance to block the left hook due to having Wicka's right hand grasped in both of his own. The other boy's fist ended up connecting against his mouth.

He let go of Wicka's fist and brought a hand up to wipe away the blood from his split lip. He glared at his opponent, "Still won't help with keeping the bruises away. Unless you pick on someone that won't fight back."

He contemplated his next move; did he throw another punch or did he go for the legs? He decided to try to end the fight and threw his fist towards his housemate's nose.

Wicka grinned half heartedly. He was beginning to enjoy the banter he was having with this boy. And then out of no where he saw a fist headed for his face. He turned just enough to have the other boy's fist connect full on to his cheek. Thank god he saw it our he would have a broken nose.

He yanked his wrist from the other boys grasp. "Sonofa..." He clasped a hand to his cheek. He could feel it throbbing. "Nice shot..." He looked the boy over and nodded. Holding out his right hand he spoke carefully. "That was a nice shot...Color me impressed...Im Wicka... "

When his fist hit the other boy's cheek, Rory bit back a small wince. He had been aiming for the boy's nose; he hadn't expected to make contact with Wicka's cheek bone.

Rory raised an eyebrow when he was complemented on the shot he managed to land; he hadn't expected that. He was sure the other boy would have retaliated. The blond stretched out his fingers before clasping Wicka's hand in his own. "Rory," he introduced himself, "You weren't too bad yourself."

Wicka shook the other boy's hand and then extracted his hand. With a short laugh he shook his head. "I better not be bad...my mother paid for fighting lessons." He shrugged. "You just got a lucky hit..." And because of that he respected the boy more than Rory could ever know.

"So...you were working on History homework. Right?" He moved toward the table he had left his book on. "I don't get number three... " And just like that he decided that Rory was ok with him... He vaguely wondered how his total turn about would seem to the boy... and then he decided he didn't care.
