In one of the interior tunnels of Ista Weyr, a boy of no more than 6 or 7 turns, was wandering alone. Curious copper eyes, olive skin, and a thick mess of russet brown hair, were the first things one would notice about him. Short little boots carrying him as he trodded up and down the tunnel paths. While he walked with an air of pupose, the boy was most defintely lost. He was not from around here (the thick, woven vest he wore over his shirt was evidence enough of that) but he seemed comfortable enough in his environment. A small green firelizards was drapped over his shoulder, which he was talking animatedly to in a low voice.

"We gotta find a way outta here, Tilly, or we're never gonna find him. Well don't look at me! I'm not the one who got us into this." There was a slight pause, before the boy responded, as though he'd been spoken to. "It was too your idea to go this way! Nuh-uh! You said.." Before the boy could finish, however, he heard the sound of footsteps coming from somewhere nearby. "Shh! Do you hear that?" he whispered, holding a hand up to tell the 'lizard to be quiet. "Do you hear that?" Yep! It was definitely footsteps. And close!

Turnus ran towards the direction of the noise, and came out from a small opening into a wider tunnel, where a blonde head of curls was just disappearing around the corner. "Hey, mister!" he shouted and ran after the dragon rider. "Hey!" he said, tugging on his sleeve to get his attention. He'd looked "Do you know where T'nus lives?" the boy asked, tilting his head. Before the bronze rider could answer, however, a loud rumble came from the boy's stomach.

Turnus pouted and hugged his middle. "I'm hungry!" he complained, suddenly forgetting his mission. "Do you know how to get to the Lower Caverns from here?"

"Hm?" T'rel turned slowly, mistaking the small footsteps behind him as Ionan's. He was quite fond of the boy--in fact, he'd thought about fostering him more than once. He'd never made an attempt to ask anyone how he would go about that--or even if he'd be allowed to do so. Instead of the boy he would have so warmly welcomed--or any of the children he knew from around the Wey. He had to pause, hoping to put a name to the boy's face.

"T'nus?" he echoed with a small smile. "Of course," he offered the boy his hand. "I'm sure he'll have something to eat, if you like. The lower caverns are no place for children. " He wrinkled his nose at the thought before grinning. "You know, you look an awful lot like my boss," he teased. "Is T'nus your father?"

"Really?" he asked, bewilderedly. He looked up at him and blinked, wide eyed and innocent. "I go there all the time back at home." Of course, his foster mother was the head cook there, so his was an unusual case. But his curiosity was suddenly forgotten when T'rel mentioned going to see him.

"No!" he cried, suddenly very urgent. He took T'rel's hand and pulled back on it, putting all of his small amount of weight into stopping him "You can't fight bad guys on an empty stomach!" he insisted, like T'rel's very life depended on it. He shook his head and sighed in relief. That was dangerous! Didn't this man know anything?

"T'nus is not my dad!" he said, sounding upset. "My dad is lots nicer. He's a brown rider, you know?" the boy said happily, clearly proud to talk about his father. "Are you a brown rider? Is that why T'nus is your boss?" he asked, curiously.

"Anyway-!" Turnus said, stomping his foot emphatically. "I'm hungry! Can't we please have something to eat?"

"You must have friends in high places," T'rel winked at the boy. "I've seen fights happen there, I don't encourage anyone the trip." He paused, frowning thoughtfully. "The Weyrleader got punched," he added as an afterthought, smirking at the memory. He stopped when the boy tugged at his arm, and turned to stare at him. "Dangerous?" he repeated with some amount of disbelief. Was the boy teasing? Fighting bad guys? Was this some sort of game he was playing with T'nus? Perhaps he genuinely believed he had to fight T'nus?

"T'nus isn't dangerous," T'rel said at last, having decided if it was the latter--he could at least reassure the boy. If it was a game, well--maybe he'd be on T'nus' side. "Except to Thread. He's not bad, either. What game are you playing? Whers and Flits?"

The blond was silent for a long moment. "What if I was a bronzerider, hm? Couldn't a brownrider be my boss? Or a bluerider? A greenrider?" He tilted his head slightly, grinning at the boy. "Nah, I'm no brownrider. I'm T'rel, rider of Zelith," he gestured in the direction of his bronze. He slowly pulled a few meatrolls out of his satchel. They'd been wrapped in a cloth--clearly intended for the man's own lunch. "Here you are," he said cheerfully. "You can have these. If you're good, I'll give you a bubblypie later."

Once again, the boy seemed annoyed by T'rel's question. "It's not a game! It's-" He looked around furtively, then beckoned T'rel close. "It's a mission!" he whispered. "Official Weyr Mission!" he added, delightedly. "And he is bad, he's gonna make lots of people sick."

Turnus looked up at him and frowned. "No." he said, matter-of-factly. "Golds are the boss. Then Bronzes, then sometimes browns. That's what my dad told me. His boss is a bronze rider, but he's the boss of other people too. He's a wingsecond, you know? Mama's just a wing rider, though." he told him, nodding.

At the sight of food, his eyes grew wide. "Really?" he asked him with disbelief, then suddenly lunged for T'rel's middle, giving him a big hug. "Thank you! Thank you! I haven't had anything to eat since I got here!" He took the meat roll and looked up uncertainly. After all, it was the man's lunch. He felt bad eating it. But in the end, hunger won out and he took a bite. He broke off a little bit and gave it to his firelizard then handed back the rest. "There. We can share them." he said.

"Anyway, I have to get rid of T'nus or all kinds of bad things will happen." he went on, slowly nibbling on his meat roll. "Since you're nice, I'll let you help me." he added, with a nod.
