Ebony sighed as she checked the time once more. For a small fashion show, this one sure was going longer than she'd imagined. And they'd arrived late, much to Cordelia's annoyance. That was something of a surprise to Ebony. Actually the fact that the basilisk had wanted to come along at all was surprising. She'd never have pegged the smokey Raevan one who was into the whole fashion scene. Despite knowing a lot about the girl, it looked like the Brit still had lots to learn.
As the show started winding down finally and Cordelia took a few more pictures with her new phone, much to Ebony's annoyance, the purple haired female checked the profile Axel had provided her with the other day. She was suppose to chat with a young aspiring photographer named Leonard Gaiten. One of the wedding planner's business associates had recommended him after seeing some work he'd did for a friend and she really would like to try him out for a wedding or two. If he did well, Axel would surely extend a regular contract to him.
Applause rang out loudly as the last model made her way back up the catwalk. Cutting her own clapping short, Ebony got up quick and started making her way towards the front where most of the photographers were grouped together. "Come on Cordelia. Time for work."
"Fine..." Cordelia sighed before sneaking one last photo before hurriedly floating after her guardian.
"Leonard Gaiten?" Ebony asked once she was within earshot of the group of photographers.

The shoot had gone by about as smoothly as any other; the clouds had been a bit of a problem, though going in and changing the shadows and light fluctuations would be easy enough. As more and more companies approached the photographer after seeing the work he had done with others, the more income Leo had started to rake in. Sure, it definitely killed his free-time but a little extra cash was worth it. Still, he did need extra time off now and again to help Ethiriel. He loved her dearly, but while he knew he was bringing in another life when he agreed to take her in, she was still handicapped and needed a fair amount of attention.
His brow twitched at how little he had been able to pamper her in the last year, given how busy he had been. Her birthday was coming up… what was he going to do about that?
Leo turned, half lost in thought, when a semi-familiar voice called out to him. At a stride, the purple haired girl quickly made her way through the crowd, and the man did his best to remember why exactly she was so familiar. Oh wait, that’s right; they had met briefly at the garden party. However, he couldn’t remember having met the one that followed, a raven haired Frei – rather dangerous looking, very much like Rivener. Once again he stared, lost in thought, though it wasn’t long before his attention was back on his human companion. ”Yes, that’s me… what is it again…” He knew her name had something to do with color… aah, right. ”Ebony? And who is this?” he asked, offering a hand out to the Raeven.
Turning away once more, Leo quickly hung his camera on his neck as he started to pack up. It hadn’t dawned on him how potentially rude that was, but given the clouds he wasn’t willing to take a chance on wasting time while his gear was unprotected. Pretty soon he would need to go check on Ethiriel, who had taken shelter from the chill inside the banquet hall. With another Raeven in their company, surely Ebony and her companion would like to follow suit.

Ebony was surprised when the blonde male who answered seemed rather familiar to her. Better yet he knew her name thus it automatically meant that they had indeed met at some point in the past. The Brit felt their meeting had to have been most recent for such a strong recognition, yet...when and where?
Cordelia had been scrolling through the pictures she'd taken of the show, trying to decide if she wanted to send any or all of them to her friends when a hand was suddenly thrust in front of her. She blinked, confused at first, before searching for the owner and slowly shaking the offered appendage. "Cordelia. You can just call me Delia if you want."
Making note of the somewhat unfazed way in which Leo interacted with her Raevan immediately reminded Ebony of where they had met before. "Oh right, we met back at the Lab's summer event. Bit of serendipity this is then." She couldn't help, but notice the rush the other was in at the moment as he gathered all his equipment together and the several small glances to the sky as if anticipating rain. "Would you perhaps like some help with your equipment?"

”Nice to meet you, Delia,” he said quickly, shaking off Ebony’s offer with the click of a case. With that, he was done – standing upright with the case in his hand and a lazy smile on his face. ”Yeah, that’s right. What brings you to the show?” he asked, nodding in the direction of the building nearest them. In a habitual schedule, he started walking without waiting for an answer or any sign of them following, naturally assuming that they were following suit regardless. ”Fan of fashion, I guess?”
As they drew closer, Leo’s eye caught his young ward ‘sitting’ delicately in one of the waiting rooms couches; her hands resting gently in her ribbon lap. A ping of guilt washed through the photographer at the sight; it wasn’t his fault that the shoot had taken so long, yet he couldn’t help but feel bad that he had made her wait for so long. Once the doors opened, he was content in knowing that she had, at least, been in a comfortably heated room and far from discomfort. ”Sorry it took so long, Ethiriel. You remember Ebony, don’t you?”
At the call of her name, a small smile graced Ethiriel’s lips as she offered a dainty nod. ”Lady Shade, if I recall…?” she asked, offering a hand to her guardian before floating upward. ”And… a new friend…?” she asked, catching a whiff of the natural smoke emanating ever so faintly from Cordelia’s skin. Doing her best to suppress a grimace at the strong aroma, the tea plant offered a gracious bow. Another smell lingered along with the smoke, but Ethiriel had a hard time placing it. Rather Earthy, but it also smelled of life; how strange. Hovering closer to the smell, her glazed eyes drifted over Delia’s form – her brows furrowing in slight frustration as her dark outline was impossible to decipher. She leaned in, kissing the serpentine Raeven on each cheek before backing away once more. ”My name is Ethiriel,” she said, bowing again. ”Though I am… quite sure you have been made aware of that.” she said, a slightly amused hum in her voice.
”Ethiriel, this is Cordelia; she’s Ebony’s Raeven. She’s a Frei, like you.” Leo said, offering his fellow guardian a smile.

Honestly she actually liked the way he didn't dawdle about and was off to do what he needed to do next with little or no warning to them. To Ebony he wasn't being rude at all, in fact she felt it made him more professional in a way. It said he had things to do and people to see, thus every minute counted.
Following after, Cordelia in tow of course, "Yes and no. I'm actually here to scout you for my employer, Axel Halkias. She's a wedding planner and has heard some good things about your work."
At the mention of his Raevan, both Ebony and Delia took a chance to glance at the pure regal beauty that was Ethiriel. Ebony could feel a blush streak across her cheeks at the title the silver Frei had greeted her with. "Ah pleasure to meet you once more Ethiriel. And you may just call me Ebony if you'd like. Though Lady Shade does have a rather nice ring to it, I would hate to think you felt you needed to be so formal with me."
Pictures and supermodels forgotten, Cordelia was in awe of Ethiriel's appearance. Never would she have thought she'd find another female Raevan as beautifully inspiring as Pasha and yet...here she was! Perhaps it was the basilisk's natural affinity to anything in the color green, but she immediately felt they could be good friends.
Delia stood perfectly still when the tea Raevan came closer and even felt a bit of a blush herself when the other kissed not one, but both of her cheeks. "M-my friends call me Delia. You can too if you wish."

Ethiriel smiled, closing her eyes for a moment as she extended her arm for any of her company to take. ”It is not that we are not familiar, Lady Shade; forgive me. I find it… more proper to allude to one with their full name.” she said, gently lifting a hand to her face. ”And Lady Cordelia… what a lovely name. I’m sure it suits you perfectly,” the tea Raeven flattered, her smile faltering ever so slightly.
”Ha, well color me flattered,” Leo said, somewhat teasingly. Despite his town, his ego was legitimately catered to. ”Do you know where Ms. Halkias learned about me? How many weddings does she want me to help with, or did she want a contract?” Several similar questions were asked as they walked, the man obviously knowing what information he needed off-hand.
As the guardians talked business, Ethiriel awaited her other-worldly companion’s initial conversation. The quiet didn’t bother her, but she certainly did not want to speak if her friend did not want it. She was quite curious; while the smell of smoke was her strongest sensual feature – what was the other scent she carried? That strange, earthy-living smell? How would she have described her appearance? How old was she and what kinds of things did she do? The last thing the lady-like Frei wanted was to talk Cordelia’s ear off, but indeed she wanted to know. Perhaps, when ready, she had questions of her own?

"Ah well then we have something in common then." Ebony smiled warmly towards Ethiriel before returning her attention to the girl's guardian, of whom she followed along with despite not knowing where his next destination was exactly. "She said a friend of hers recommended you. Or maybe it was her sister...I'm sorry I can't rightly recall at the moment. Either way they said your skills were top notch. So Ms. Halkias asked me to come out on her behalf since she's unfortunately detained by another event today and couldn't come herself. She'd like to try you out with one wedding first, but if all goes well she's more than willing to hash out a contract with you for future events."
One of Cordelia's brows cocked in question at the choice of words the other Frei had used just now. What did she mean by 'I'm sure it suits you'? Wouldn't someone you are meeting normally say something along the lines of 'it suits you' instead? It was then she noticed the way the girl didn't quite look at her (or anyone for that matter) directly, it was always somewhat off, like she was looking past them instead. A little concerned, the basilisk drew in closer to Ethiriel and whispered, "Is everything okay? You seem...distracted?" Delia said the last part as more of a question because she really wasn't sure what was up with the girl, yet she didn't want to be too incredibly rude if she could help it.

”I see. Well, you can tell her that I’ll definitely take it into consideration.” Leo said, idly digging through his bag to pull out a small card, his name and contact information printed neatly on the glossy paper. His quick reactions and near-dull responses gave off the air of knowing, having been through many interactions of the sort prior. ”I’ll certainly at least have a word or two with her, if only to try and set a schedule.”
With that heavy question in tow, Ethiriel merely nodded as she closed her eyes, still clinging gently to her companion’s arm. ”I do apologize, it is… inconsiderate of me.” she started, her voice matching Cordelia’s. ”I am… unable to see properly. I apologize if I have appeared in poor manners.”
Leo’s attention was now on his Frei, a worried expression crossing his face as he looked back. ”I’m sorry, I should have said something, Delia. She’s been like this since I picked her up, but hopefully we can find out what’s causing the problem so it can be fixed.” His face kept a hint of worry as he looked back toward Ebony, handing her the sheet of paper. ”That should have my home and cell number. You can have one too if you’d like.” he offered, occasionally passing glances to the two Raevens behind them. Everything seemed just fine, but he couldn’t shake the worry.
Ethiriel, on the other hand, seemed perfectly content as she opened her eyes once more, this time keeping it ahead of them, locked onto Leo’s wrist watch.

Ebony wasn't far behind in producing a set of business cards herself, one with her boss's information and one with her own. Trading hers for Leo's, "Ms. Halkias tries to be in the office as much as possible, but obviously that's not easy when you're a wedding planner. She'll definitely want to speak to you herself, but if you don't hear from her personally sometime soon, please feel free to give me a call and I'll schedule the meeting instead."
Cordelia's eyes went wide, looking between Ethiriel and Leo. Finally landing on Ebony's face for some clue as to why these two were apologizing to her for something they obviously had no control over to begin with!
"Nononono!" Delia repeated quickly, pulling around in front of the silver Raevan and stopping her forward movement. Holding the girl's hands tightly in her own, "You have nothing to apologize for! Either of you! Don't be sorry for things you can't control! I'm the one who's sorry!"
Placing a hand on the snake's shoulder, "Cordelia, I'm sure your concern is well and good, but you should calm down a bit and definitely let go of the poor girl's hands. You're likely to break them in your state."
With a gasp, Cordelia released Ethiriel. "Oooo, sorry! I can get...carried away sometimes. I didn't hurt you did I?"

Ethiriel’s eyes widened upon their sudden stop, jumping slightly at Cordelia’s cold hands against hers. For a moment, she was dumbstruck at the situation, unsure of how to proceed before offering her companion a smile. ”Oh my, it is… not like that, dearest Cordelia.” she hummed, taking the Basilisk’s hand gently in her own once she was released. ”I apologize for not speaking sooner. There is… no reason to be sorry for me.” Her voice, much like her smile, was gentle and reassuring as she caressed Cordelia’s hand. ”And do not worry for my sake, I am not hurt, merely startled.”
”Her essence is Unoxidized Silver.” Leo stated, more to Ebony than Cordelia. ”What they said to me was that she’s practically indestructible. Her bones can’t break.” His eyes drifted to the Raevens, unable to help but smile at how well it seemed like they got along. With his work, he hadn’t had much time to introduce her to many others, especially not other Raevens, so he was very eager for his ward making friends. ”If anything, though, if Delia’s hands are cold it might be a little uncomfortable for her. After reading up on it, tea plants are very sensitive to temperatures…” However, she seemed fine.
Letting go of one of Delia’s hands, Ethiriel clung to the other and nodded toward Leo – or more accurately, the watch he wore. ”Let us continue, we shouldn’t… dawdle on my account.”
”Aah, that’s right,” Leo said, putting the cards Ebony had handed him away. ”Did you have any plans, Ebony? I can treat you two to dinner, if you’d like.”

"Ah, I'm glad then." Cordelia sighed in relief as the other let go of one hand, but held onto the other despite the slight coldness. The gesture made the snake smile warmly.
"Well that is rather relieving to hear. Cordelia's usually good at keeping her strength in check, yet sometimes her emotions run wild and she forgets." Thinking they were to part ways now due to Ethiriel's timekeeping, Ebony was taken a bit off by the sudden offer of a meal. "Oh no, there's no reason to treat us. I mean, we'd be more than happy to join you, but well...uh, I mean..." The violaceous Brit fumbled with trying to end her sentence in a way that meant she would pay her own while accompanying them to dinner. She didn't want to sound rude, yet now it probably sounded like she was refusing his generous offer altogether. Ebony sighed and tried again.
"What I mean is, we'd love to."

Leo chuckled, nodding toward their initial direction. ”There’s a nice little shop up the street. It’s just a small deli, so I really don’t mind handling the bill.” he said, his eyes drifting once more toward Delia and Eth, the smile on his face relaxing. ”Besides, think of it as a… celebration of sorts for the new work.” he mused.
The real question at hand was what to feed Delia? Ethiriel was easy – while the diner most likely had no rusted silverware on hand, she was able to sustain energy from soaking in hot water. Leo couldn’t remember if Delia’s aspects had been given, but how was she fed? Raevens weren’t so common for restaurants to regularly keep their source of food readily available… Perhaps Ebony was more prepared than he would have been and kept something on her at all times.
A few paces behind, Ethiriel kept Cordelia’s hand tucked safely in her own, her grip gentle but sure. Her eyes remained locked on the one thing she could see, keeping herself in check of her relative location. Every once in a while she was able to catch glances at various knick-knacks housed in little shops, but she did her best not to confuse herself.
”If you do not… mind my inquiry,” she started, lifting her head up, ”may I ask how you see yourself?”

Ebony gave a tiny smile at his ease of glossing over her earlier botched attempt at conversation. She only wished she could get passed it just as easily. For the duration of their encounter, the overcritical Brit would most likely be suffering from some bit of embarrassment from that imperfect moment of herself. Still she would do her best to keep it from seeming as such to their company. "Sounds quaint. Please do lead on."
The basilisk quirked a brow at the question Ethiriel posed. How did she see herself? Did she mean literally or figuratively? Somewhat embarrassed, Delia idly scratched her cheek with her free hand. "Come again? Like, what do you mean exactly? Do you want me to describe my physical features to you or do you want to know how I see myself in general?" Honestly she was hoping for the first since the latter seemed so much more harder and a bit personal to describe to someone she'd just met.

Ethiriel was silent for a moment, craning her neck and lifting her chin as she closed her eyes in thought. ”My apologies,” she said, lowering her head again with a smile, face turned vaguely in Delia’s direction, ”I didn’t mean… for the confusion. Please, describe your… appearance, to me.” While it was a mere question, her monotonous tone suggested that it had been a demand. Catching this, herself, she added, ”If you… would be so inclined, of course.”
Brows raising, Leo forced himself to keep his attention ahead of them to keep focused on their path. He knew conversation with Ethiriel was rather rough, at least if you didn’t know how to keep discussion going. She didn’t speak out much unless an invitation to do so was extended or if a question was asked – he nearly wanted to apologize to Cordelia, but instead he bit his tongue.
”So, what brings you here?” he asked instead, still looking forward rather than in the eyes of his companion as they walked. He wasn’t trying to be rude, of course, he was trying to keep from running into others. ”I did a lot of traveling, myself. What made you settle?”
