It wasn't a terribly frequent thing that Nahm came looking for Junko in her room. For all that he was cavalier and over-forward about invading the personal space of pretty much anyone, he tended to do so in public spaces, or in his own room if others came looking for him. He rarely sought out others in their dorm rooms. Today, though, here he was. He carried a small, sloppily wrapped package in one hand, mostly concealed by the ragged edge of the sleeve of his robe. He knocked on the dorm room door and waited.

Junko wasn't used to random visitors. Usually when someone was going to stop by they called ahead and so she waited and did small chores while waiting. Nope, today she wasn't expecting someone and had left for most of the day to practice cooking as Ginger had instructed. Outside.
Nahm was very lucky that Junko had decided to come back just as he knocked on the door. She blinked, tilting her head to one side and just waiting. Four seconds...five...ten. After a bit of time had passed she leaned forward, putting her head on the grue's shoulder from behind him. "How rude of her not to answer. Who taught this ghoul any manners?" Junko tsked playfully before grinning up at the boil and standing back. In her arms was a heavy pot of...something. At least it smelled appetizing and didn't look toxic like Junko's first attempts to cook outside with only an open flame. "Hi, Nahm~!"

"I don't know!" Nahm replied cheerfully. "I sure didn't! But that's probably a good thing. I'm a rude jackhead." He grinned at Junko. "Hi, Junko. I brought you a pre~sent," he singsonged, and eyed the pot in her arms with interest. "What've you got there?"

"The rudest." Junko agreed with a smile, lifting a bit of hair to wave for her since her hands were full. Wait! A present?! The ghoul gasped and looked down at Nahm's hands to see what it was. Damn! It was covered! But she was still excited, resisting the urge to jump and squeal lest she spill the contents of her pot everywhere. "A present for me? Ohh! IwannaseeIwannasee~! Ah..the key is um...oh!" Her hair slithered up her sleeve and dug around in search of something until it produced a key, reaching around Nahm with ease to unlock the door. There! Now she could put this down on the table inside.
Of course he was interested in the food. Junko grinned and nudged Nahm into her room with the pot, bristling with excitement over seeing her friend and he had a present for her. "Food! Ginger's mentoring me, and one of my assignments is to practice cooking outside the kitchen. This is a simple stew, usually I make other things but I didn't want to spend all day outside. Want to try it?" Even as Junko asked this she realized it was a silly question. Nahm would eat anything.

"A present for my special friend," Nahm teased, following Junko inside and waiting politely till she'd put the pot down to hand over the package. It was wrapped in several layers of tissue paper and tied with twine; not a terribly fancy wrapping job, but the grue had always felt that the contents of a present were more important than the presentation.
(Unless it was a certain sort of present, but that was an entirely different matter.)
He sniffed appreciatively at the pot, his eyeglows brightening with interest. "Of course I want to try it. It smells delicious." Even if it hadn't, he'd have happily sampled it, being what he was, but it was certainly an extra incentive.

Junko blinked. "Then why are you here bothering me, Nahm?" She was kidding, right?
..Right?
Yes, she was kidding. Junko was excited. What was this present? She didn't get them often, and she didn't consider fabric to make clothes as a present as much as it was just a very generous donation...so the last one Junko could think of was the scareon napping in her minipet pen.
Grabbing a quilted hot mat with a long tendril of hair and placing it in the middle of the table, Junko then set it down on top of the mat and finally grabbed a bowl and spoon. She knew Nahm would try it without his answer. She grinned. "Good~. Ginger wants me to practice. It's nothing extravagant today, a simple stew with mushrooms, spices..and uh...other various ingredients that I was surprised cooked well." Her grin fell and was replaced with an almost haunted look; she had seen things she would never unsee, apparently.
"At least it stopped screaming when you--"
"SO ANYWAY..here~!" Scooping a healthy serving of stew into the bowl, Junko offered it up with a smile. Don't ask just try.

Under the layers of paper and twine, once Junko got them untangled, was what looked at first like a pile of fabric - but when she looked closer, she would find that it was actually a long patchwork scarf, much like the one Nahm and his brother wore. This one, however, was clearly new, pieced from fabrics in all shades of black, from deep rosy greys and layered laces to satiny bits with a ravens-wing sheen, with its edges neatly finished.
Nahm took the bowl and spoon with a delighted grin which actually seemed to get wider at the mention of something screaming. "Despair makes it taste sweeter!" he said, and dug in with enthusiasm. ... It might have been a joke.

The ghoul sat down when she was handed the package and eagerly tore into it like a scareling on their birthday. Oh..more fabric? Huh. Well, that was nice. She was smiling as she pulled the fabric out, though it was when it suddenly unfolded to reveal it was not simply a piece of fabric for her to use when making clothes that she realized it was something made for her. Junko wasn't used to this. She made or bought all of her own clothes, or they were gifted to her like the dresses Invictus had given to her while she was visiting the Isle of Conquest. No one had ever.. "Did you make this?" Her voice was quiet, awed. Gently she lifted the entire scarf off the floor to look it over, her fingers tracing over the different patterns and sections. It was so long! Junko giggled with glee and bounced a bit where she was sitting, her hair curling and writhing around her. "I love it!" No one had ever made something for her! Bought, gifted, but never made. The ghoul quickly wrapped the scarf around her shoulders twice, giggling again at how long it still draped over her, before getting up to throw her arms around Nahm and nuzzle her face into his shoulder. "Thank you so much, Nahm!"
She was still grinning when he spoke of despair and made her look up to see him try it, toying with part of her pretty new scarf and settling comfortably beside her friend. Eeeeeeee! It was so pretty! "Maybe~. Ginger's encouraged me to put more of my Fear into it so...how does it taste?"

"Yep," Nahm replied between bites. "Took me a while, had to collect the pieces. It's a grue scarf, traditional-like," he paused to have another spoonful of stew, "stitched with no light and all. Put on patches your friends give you if you want to." He reached over to lift one end of the scarf and rub his thumb and forefinger on a plain black patch that looked more worn than some of the pieces around it. "Took the liberty of putting mine right in." He grinned over his own scarf. "You're welcome."
"It's delicious," he said, and scraped his spoon around the bottom of the bowl. "More please~"

A while? How long had been been working on this!? A traditional grue scarf...this was amazing! The movement of his hand got her attention and she followed it to watch him point out a particular patch, cocking her head to one side like a curious bird. She could add patches? Hmm, maybe. For now the scarf was perfect as it was. "That's so thoughtful! I love it." And with the chill of proper Autumn returning she would have so many chances to wear this scarf out and about! What good timing Nahm had.
She was still playing with the scarf and looking over every piece when Nahm said the stew was delicious, looking up as he politely asked for more. Junko grinned. "Have as much as you like! Oh, I should get a bowl for The Mistress." Right. Almost forgot about Her.
"About time." She grumped, giving Junko time to fill a second serving for Nahm before gathering up another bowl, filling it and offering it up to the mouth behind her head. Her hair collected it and promptly began greedily shoveling food into Her mouth.
"Ohhh I should think of something to give you now. I didn't know you could sew..and completely in the dark? That's so neat!" Junko was thoroughly impressed. Even she couldn't sew well in the dark.

"I knew you would," he replied, looking way too pleased with himself. He took the second bowl of stew with a flourish of his spoon. "Hits the spot, aw yeah."
He shot a curious look at The Mistress; he didn't see Her eating often, though he never forgot She was there when Junko was. The two seemed to have a reasonable sharing arrangement, and The Mistress didn't seem to be terribly interested in him, so he likewise left Her alone.
"I see on a longer spectrum than most creatures," he informed Junko. "Way more comfortable to see in how warm things are than what color they are. And I gotta sew in the dark so I can take my gloves off and feel the fabric and the needle proper." He plucked at the hood of his robe. "Made this too." He sounded proud of his ability.

Junko blinked. Nahm was just reminding her she knew absolutely nothing about grues except that they had huge smiles, insatiable appetites--or was that just Nahm?--and were pretty much allergic to light. Now he was telling her they had heat vision? "So, like..you see how hot things are in the dark? That's cool. Er..not like...ah..yeah." Way to go, Junko. Way. To. Go. "I wish I could see that, but I can't see without light unless it's like..right in front of my face. Very inconvenient." She nodded almost sagely and then looked up at the hood he was showing off.
"Impressive! Though I guess that means you won't need me to sew you anything, huh." Junko almost sounded serious. Almost.

Nahm laughed. "Makes finding live prey easier," he purred, and snapped his teeth playfully before continuing to eat. "Would've thought you had night-vision," he commented, sounding interested. "Lot of creatures with eyeglows do."
He grinned. "But I like presents," he protested.

Live..prey? Junko squeaked and leaned back away from Nahm a little as he snapped his teeth like a...like a playful shark or something. Yes, a shark was a good comparison for Nahm. "Eh? Oh! Well...my eyes are just a uh..side effect." She giggled, holding up her hand to accept the bowl when she heard a soft demand for more. The bowl was filled and offered back to Her, leaving enough stew for either Nahm or The Mistress to have one last serving. First come, first serve. "See, I spent school break with Tomoko, the little blonde kitsune? I spent almost the entire break with her, eating their food and stuff...and I guess the Fear they put into it did this to me. Her clan has this thing where as they age they begin to give off a glow. It hasn't gone away, and I'm fine with it. It was very surprising to me to wake up one morning and see my eyes glowing in my reflection!" She barely even noticed it nowadays. The glow wasn't ever intense enough to like..light a path or anything. It was just a faint one. "It's not really a trait futakuchi-onna usually have. We're a very ordinary race~."
At Nahm's protest the ghoul couldn't help but smile. "Do you? If you insist~. I'll have to think of something, then. It's hard when you have to wear those robes all the time."

"I'd say you're pretty extraordinary," Nahm said, and grinned at her. He leaned over to scoop a little more stew into his bowl; he was fine with sharing, but he was definitely going to get his share. "The eyes complement your fine features nicely."
He laughed. "I hate to disabuse you of the notion that I might be naked under here, but the robes are just the outer layer. I wear actual clothing. Disappointed?"
