Earlier that day, they had - on a whim - rented a runic movie projector, and grabbed a random movie off the 'comedy' shelves - something titled 'Office Space' - and then settled down in Jude's room... Because her room was once again out of commission, thanks to that insanity dragon, and she did not want to spend more money fixing it.
She was just going to hang out in Ryan's room until further notice.
The movie was slow paced, and not something she would usually watch. There was no action, no nothing - it wasn't even all that funny, for being a comedy. However, although it bored her at the beginning, the ending was satisfying enough for her not to make a huge deal out of it. Instead, after turning the runic movie projector, she flopped back down on the edge of the bed, and started prodding the male with her foot, "So, you gonna skip out on the next mission too?"

Jude had enjoyed the movie a bit more than Ariane had, he chuckled more he commented on various aspects of it. He could identify with the prospect of not enjoying his work and even going as far as not caring anymore. Why should he care? They're all going to be cremated and buried anyways and no one in the world will ever realize what they did a--...
A nudge shook him out of his thoughts as he sat up a bit straighter his eyes gazing over at Ariane, "I skip out? I just ..." he shrugged a little.
"I am taking a few moments to reflect, that's all." He said simply with a bit of a sigh. Ever since being crystallized and then ... brought back he'd been a bit off. It wasn't the fact that he had faced his own mortality but really wondering why he put himself at such a risk - other than to help Ariane.

"Sure, reflect," Ariane replied, rolling her eyes as she pulled her legs up to the bed, crossing them Indian-style, "And what exactly are you reflecting on, Mr I've-got-a-case-of-the-Mondays Jude? It's been months."

He blinked a little bit at her words, "Has it really? Time sure does fly when you're living in the Mondays," he said idly. His fingertips idly traced patters onto his bed sheet where he sat near Ariane.
A small frown, "Why do I do this anymore?"

"You would think that time moves slower, living in the Mondays," She laughed, stroking her chin as she raised an eyebrow at him, "Why the random thought-provoking question?"
She paused, mulling over it before shrugging, "Who knows? I don't really think about it anymore... I guess you could go back to thinking about why you started?"

"Because I am being thought provoking right now, I don't know. I just...was wondering that's all, the movie got me thinking I guess," he said simply. Jude quietly shifted his shoulders, "Too late now for regrets and stuff, I know but..."
Then her advise to him made him stop and his expression went a bit gloomier than normal, "When I first came here...It was to protect someone, but she's gone now."

"You know but you're still thinking about it," Ariane completed the sentence for him; it wasn't like she couldn't understand how he felt, but if he continued down this path of 'I do not give a s**t' and 'case of the Mondays', he might be stuffed back into a pod the way Jeremy was... And she did not wish that on him - or anyone else for that matter, but especially not on Jude.
"I lost someone too, and might be losing someone else, but after grieving? It's time to move on," She might had sounded a little annoyed, "You can't be stuck in the 'grief' phase forever, you know. Go look for a new purpose or something."

Jude gave a small nod as she finished the sentence for him. He quietly shifted from side to side in his seated position as if feeling restless. He'd made the decision too recklessly perhaps or maybe it was the right choice and he'd just lost his way now that the catalyst was now... Just the past.
He glanced over at Ariane as he heard her annoyance, "I know," he said simply in return, "I am just saying that was my reason at the time and now I seem to be lost and it's ...******** annoying."
Jude flopped over on his bed, "I mean...You're here and...You're my friend but to say that I fight to protect you...and then if you disappear...It'll just start the cycle over again.."

"Well, I don't think brooding around is going to help you find a new purpose or reason to be here or whatever you want to call it," Ariane pointed out, turning to face him at his new position on the bed, "Maybe we should get you a hypnotherapist."
His words made her sigh, "Fight for yourself then. Starts with yourself, ends with yourself. Anyway, handling yourself well is more important than protecting others while on a mission. Got to start from being able to protect yourself first, and then you talk about protecting others."
A pause followed.
"Not that I need your protection. You know that, right?" She raised an eyebrow, eyeing him.

He took it in quietly pretty much flopped over like a dead fish as he seemed to have a rather pensive expression on his face. As she went on he could see the truth behind her words though after her pause and her raised eyebrow as she gazed toward him he just made a face like he just swallowed something bad.
"I didn't mean it like you're a damsel or something...Just ... strong enough to watch your back," he corrected quietly with a small shrug, "I just...I don't know."

"Oh, watch your own back," Ariane waved a hand in the air, almost dismissively, "As much as I appreciate your thoughts, that's good enough for me. Oh, and stop moping around like a dead fish. That'll help too. Would be nice to know that I wouldn't come home from a mission, and see you in the pod next to Jeremy's."
She paused briefly, and then added, "Although if that happens, can I keep your room?"

"I'm not moping, I'm considering my options," he corrected with a bit of a huff. There was a difference or so he felt. He was getting better or so he felt. Way better than he was before, he just wanted to know the meaning of his poor pitiful existence beyond being butt patted by Ariane now and again.
He took in a deep breath then let it out in a long, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooope."
"Not unless you intend to give it back," He added.

"You're totally moping," Ariane snorted, rolling her eyes, "Suuuuuuure, it'll be like I'm babysitting your room and your possessions for you."
A pause.
"I charge a dollar a day."

"Nope if I was moping then I'd be pouting and crying all the time," he sort of sprawled out over his bed now. "Good luck getting the dollar from me," he said with a small grin.
That's right. He wasn't going to just let Ariane have the dollar even if it was a very generous service she was offering.

"Oh don't worry. I'll just sell your possessions, one by one, with each passing day," Ariane stood up, walking over to his wardrobe. Opening it, she started poking around at his clothing, "I'm sure it'll more than cover the daily fees."
