The sun was just now starting to set as a crimson coated mare made her way along a faded pathway. It was one of those paths that centuries ago was used almost daily but for decades had had nearly no one step hoof on it. The mare herself had actually stumbled on the over grown path one day and having followed it found one of her favorite things along it. A traveler grave. The almost unmarked graves of Merah forefathers as they travel across this land. Piles of rocks and the vertical stick of what once had been a cross were all that showed this to be a traveler graveyard. This hidden and forgotten treasures were of some the most prized things in the mare's life. Vera's sister never understood what she saw in these grave sites or graveyards and in all truth Vera had never been able to voice just what it was that drew her to them herself. But something about them brought peace to her, made her feel strangely romantic that those who had lived on had done something to try and remember them by.

Vera made her way easily enough the overgrown path. She had come to this particular grave site a couple of times. Tonight she was bringing some fruits and a bottle of wine to share with the dead. Those that had passed on here might be long gone but that was no reason that someone who was still living could not pay their respects.

Eiode knew this one. Every so often, when the lure of his calling pulled him in this direction, he would stop and stand in silent contemplation at the decaying grave site. He did not seek to make any adjustments or changes to it. He had seen the rotting of the wooden cross. He'd witnessed the wearing of the stones under moss and rain. These were the natural changes of time of course, and Eiode greatly respected this.

Under normal circumstances he would enact his ability to be hidden from the eyes of other mortal creatures. Yet way out here? He did not see the need to use such caution. The grave was in a lonely place. Naught passed here but the random hare and feathered friends of the sky. Or so he believed. Eiode knelt down to one knee, his wings folded upon his back as he laid his flag upon the grass. He bowed his head a little and released a slow exhalation. Visiting the graves of those he had once watched always brought back such strong memories. So clear...he could almost see them again. Almost hear them once more. He could almost swear he could hear their hooves upon the path just once more time.

As the crimson mare drew nearer to the gravesite her silver eyes caught sight of a dark figure kneeling at the graves. She watches as two sets of beautiful soft wings seemed to glow in the setting sun light. Those wings were something her eyes had never seen before. She had seen Gwilith flying around but never which such delicate wings...and never in such a place. She spent a moment watching the figure a bit in awe at the care he seemed to project onto the three worn graves. But a small part of her felt a bit of jealousy rising up. This had been one of her secret spots and here was another that seemed to be more familar with them. She looked down at her physical offerings and they some how seemed far for worthy.

She gave a bit of a sigh though and good the remaining steps forward to close the gap. She had thought of turning and walking the other way but she was not the type to shy away from anything. As she drew closer she addressed him not wanting to startle him, "Good evening sir. I did not expect to find another here." she spoke gently to him.

A sigh... and it had not come from him. Eiode's ears flicked back and his head lifted a little. Slowly he lifted his head, careful to keep the fall of his bangs over his eyes as he did so. His hand reached for the black shaft of his flag as he considered vanishing. He had been seen already though, and addressed by the mare.

Eiode found words were slow to come to his lips. Yet being spoken to did require some form of return. He was not rude after all. Slowly Eiode rose to his feet. His hand gestured finally to the grave sites, and he spoke in a soft deep tone. "These ones have been here many a season. You did not expect to see them here?" He asked. While his comment may have been possibly taken as a jest... his tone suggested quiet a serious edge to his words instead.

Vera watched as his dark hair feel again over his eyes. Such a lazy action yet it had been too quick for her to get a glimpse of them. Though eyes were not everything. She had gone threw a phase when she always covered one of her eyes. However now that she saw the other stallion with his eyes covered she could not help a small smile that tugged at the corner of her lips. She had the feeling he was well past her in age, yet with the thick crop of hair covering his eyes he appeared to be much younger.

Her silver eyes had also caught his movement towards the flag and for a moment she thought that he might attack her with it. She was not skilled in any form of fighting so had he attacked she would have been struck down. She was thankful, however, that he did not.

Slowly she reached a hand up to run it threw her tri colored hair pushing it back behind one of her ears. "I expected to see the three of them. I came to spend my evening with them. I did not expect to find another living Mearh here with them. I can leave you to your peace with them or if you would like you can join me in a drink to honor them." She said and tilted the bottle of wine and clothe bag she had in her right hand towards the stranger.

This was a very inconvenient and awkward moment. Eiode knew from his watching that it would have been seen as rude and antisocial to merely walk away now. Conversation had been engaged, however strange it may have seemed at the moment. He had been issued a invitation as a result. Proper protocol would require him to linger at least another ten minutes before it would be polite to excuse himself. It was his intention to learn of changes was it not? He could not remain stuck in his same, though fulfilling, routine.

Eiode kept his head down, allowing not for a moment his bangs to shift. Even in a slight breeze he was satisfied to know the hollow sockets beneath the black bangs would not be revealed. He had few physical markers of his difference between the common mortals, which he currently preferred to keep the illusion of for now. Which...led him to the invitation. Eiode rarely ate or drank. He drew his strength from elsewhere, he did not need to fill his belly with things to draw strength from.

"My peace is carried with me, regardless of who attends." He finally managed to reply to the mare. He would not interfere in the plans she had made for this day. Though he had already caused a ripple just by being seen he supposed. He did not wish to impact her lifes path too much right now. "I would be honored to join you for a moment in their memory..."

Too formal...too cold... this was not how he saw so many others speak. Inwardly Eiode wanted to berate himself for sounding like a Mearh from centuries past. Ah...but perhaps she would not mind...not everyone had to speak the same in order to communicate...right?

Vera watched the stranger. He seemed to be both at peace and uncomfortable. She could understand how being with another could ruin things. She herself often preferred to be alone. So even if he had sauntered away she would not have been surprised. The fact that he did accept her offer she was a bit surprised.

Being unaware of the other's internal discomfort she gave a bit of a nod and a gentle smile, "Then I would be just as honored to have you join me. You looked like you were familiar with the family. Did your family know theirs?" she ask softly as she knelt down near the graves and started to unpack the bundle next to it. "I only have four glasses but if you don't mind then you and I can share one. If you do then I shall allow you to use the fourth glass and I shall just drink from the bottle." She set the four shot glasses down on the ground.

She did not look up at the stallion if he choice to sit with her or to stand for the drink in memory it was up to him. She did not mind if he did not wish to speak too much. Not ever Mearh was one pick on words. And when remembering the death words were not always needed.

Eiode watched the mare as she knelt to unpack her possessions. He watched with vague curiosity as she pulled each item out. He felt uncertain, if he was completely honest with himself, over just how to answer the females offer. Slowly he knelt upon the grass. His tail flicked to his left side even as his wings folded rather neatly against his broad back. It seemed rather improper of him to be more concerned on how to answer her question regarding how they were to share drinks, then on how it was he knew this family.

His head turned to the three mounds as silence fell between them. He knew that it was impolite to be silent for too long, yet it seemed difficult to put together words that would not unsettle the mare. Yet to lie seemed so... impossible. He simply could not utter untruths. Not due to any true inability that is. Rather he found coming up with untruths to be incredibly difficult! The truth was just so much easier.

"I have no family. Though I did know this one." He finally stated. Eiode folded his hands in his lap as he let the memories of these ones return to him. "They did not know me." He added after a moment. That seemed a particularly important piece of information that should not be left unspoken. Finally Eiode managed to address the question he was having the hardest with next. "I am not adverse to sharing a glass." Not that he believed he would take more then a obligatory sip... there was no need for her to be inconvenienced by his presence.

This stallion had a strange draw to him. He was both graceful and a bit awkward in his manor of action. He had a natural grace but it seemed that he was not used to having someone watching him. It made the mysterious stallion almost cute and tugged at the instinctual mare side of Vera. She felt a growing need to reassure him as if he were a nervous foal.

She watched as he sat next to her and the way his covered eyes looked over the grave almost fondly, "There is nothing wrong with them not knowing you knew them or watched over them." She gave him a gentle smile, completely unaware of his internal struggle over her simple questions. "I don't mind sharing a glass either, I will let you take the first drink sir." She took her eyes from his shadowed face to focus on pours the wine into the three small glasses.

After filling all four she shifted to carefully place a nearly full glass at the head of each of the three grave mounds. Then she handed the fourth glass to Eiode. "I won't keep you too long sir. But thank you again for being willing to share a glass in honor with me." She gave a soft laugh, "It is nice to share the night with another living Mearh from time to time."
