Yayuka had plenty of time to think lately, and after a while he decided to approach this situation at least somewhat maturely. Of course, that was all a matter of perspective, and the gray lion didn't even have too much experience in this area. Sure, he'd flirted or spent time with a couple females in his days as a rogue, but this was something altogether different.
For all her infuriating personality, Yayuka found himself drawn to Aithne. He had remained in what could be considered either denial or oblivion for a while about it, but now he was definitely sure. He liked Aithne in a way rather unlike a friend. Now was a matter of acting on it!
Truth be told, he didn't know if her affections already lay elsewhere. Continuing with the honesty streak, Yayuka didn't care. He wasn't afraid of going for something he wanted, and now he wanted to see what could possibly happen between them.
First things first, of course, he had to find her somewhere! He hoped that if things went his way finding her around would be quite a bit easier, but for the time being he had to go with his normal strategy of walking around until he happened upon her.

Aithne had been having simliar thoughts going through her mind lately. Most of them were similar thoughts that were going through Yayuka's mind. She couldn't really help but tot hink about it. She didn't completely understand how he was making her feel. That frustrated her. Her sisters teased that she liked him. But there was no way she liked him. Was there? And even if she liked him was it possible that he liked her? She didn't think so she couldn't really see Yayuka feeling the same way he probably thought they were just friends as she thought of him.
She was trying to take this all of her mind by relaxing for a little. She was asked to watch some cubs for the day and she wasn't exactly up to it but she kind of as doing her job. She wasn't exactly watching them but she was a little. Mostly watching them you could say, she was also fighting off a nap. She found some shade which is always nice. She enjoyed shade and laying under the shade one days like that. It was always extremely exciting for her. Her eyes were half closed as she felt the breeze and relaxed.

It did take him a little while, but finally he managed to find the person he was looking for. It could be hard to find shade in a desert, and it was also hard to find a specific lion in a pride as large as the Motoujamii. Somehow he managed both at the same time! Excellent.
He saw a few cubs nearby, but didn't think they'd interfere much. Perhaps Aithne was on babysitting duty. Well, if it was boring her, maybe Yayuka could make things a bit more interesting. He trotted over her, initially feeling calm, as he usually did, but gradually becoming a bit more nervous. Hmph, that was annoying. He'd just have to hope he cooled down once he got going. Best start things normally enough!
"Hey, Aithne." He said once close enough, and playfully kicked some sand over her hind paws. "Sleeping on the job?"

She was almost completely asleep. She was getting closer and closer to drifting away. It was nice to get away from the sun for a little. She was extremely talented at finding shade a this point. It was a habit of hers to flop down in the most shady place and take a nap when she was cub sitting. It was common for time to time for the cubs to come and wake her up, and as sand his ehr face that is what she thought was happening once again.
She woke up quickly her eyes snapping open and words coming out of her mouth right away. "Which one of you brats-" As lifted her paw to wipe her face she then looked to see that it was not a small cub to kick the sand in her face. It was a brat though.
"What do you want?" She ask swiping a paw at him clearly annoyed. Why did he have to come wake her up? What did he want? Didn't he know that she was working? He would manage to do this.

Hm. He hadn't meant to hit her face, but apparently he had managed that. Oh well! They lived in a desert, she could probably handle it. "That is how you treat the pride's darling cubs?" He laughed, amused, but didn't sound quite as sardonic as he usually did. And really, Yayuka imagined the cubs around here were used to snippy adults. It was kind of the way firekin were.
"I thought you might miss me." He frowned weakly, then decided to stop fooling around too much because he would lose track, and then end up not doing anything. "Actually, I have an objective. I need to talk to you! ... It's important." To him, anyways. And probably, hopefully her.

Aithne rolled her eyes at the male, she couldn't help it, even though she was grumpy at the moment she couldn't help but to smile at him. It was a little bit of a goofy smile but she was a little happy to see him.
She was about to comment about how she didn't miss him at all. But then his urgent next comment caught her attention. Her ears twitched and she stared at him a little confused. Okay she was very confused that was for sure. "What? What is it?" she asked curiously stretching out as she did still not that sure of what to say to him.

The smile did make him feel a bit more confident about this whole situation. And least Yayuka was pretty sure she didn't hate him. Even if she wasn't quite in the same place as him, that might mean she could be won over.
Once she asked him what this was all about, Yayuka felt it was best to answer without mucking around about it too much. He was a confident enough male, despite the missing ear and the ugly paw and the strange history. But this was still new ground for him! "I like you." Let's just start with that!
"Is there a chance you like me? Because if so, I think... well, I think we could try something out."

Aithne turned to him she blinked unsure of what to say. She was a little confused. What did he mean by like? Of course she liked him they were friends right? She didn't understand where he was going with this. Not at all it was an odd thing to say. Her tail flicked around behind her before she spoke, "wait.... Duh I like you I mean we hang out and stuff. I don't do that with many others." She said simply not that sure of what else to say to him. She was lost, even her face showed it, this was an odd question to her. What was going on?

Right. Of course when he tried to be direct, h e failed to be clear. Her confusion did steal his thunder a bit, but Yayuka was determined not to give up just like that. If she needed more explaining, well... well, fine! "That's not... really what I mean. I mean as... Well, not to belittle the whole friend thing, but more than friends. I mean we could be more than friends." He explained, keeping his cool well enough on the outside. Inside he felt somewhat less cool. At least the male now thought Aithne would understand what he meant.
"That would mean... mostly not much of a change, I guess." He had never been in a relationship. "Except spending more time together, with some mushy stuff, like me saying you're beautiful." He had to throw a bit of romance in there some time!
Now, to wait and see how Aithne reacted.

Aithne was then taken back by his next announcement. He liked her more than a friend? As she thought about it suddenly a rush of thoughts of the cubs talking about cooties and things like that. But yet at the same time something about it felt right. Did she like him back? She wasn't even that sure. She pretty sure that she liked him. So many thoughts were rushing through her head. She didn't know what to say to him raelly.
"I'm not beautiful!" She protested. Not that sure of what else to say. She thought her sisters were pretty. They did good at keeping their fur neat. She didn't at all. And she was pretty plain.

Her reply, after the silence that felt a bit long, was refreshing. And rather funny. That is what got her attention? Did she honestly believe that? "I think you are." Yayuka replied, happily. He could live with complimenting her! And how fun, they could even argue about it. "I also think you're really cool, and strong." While he was at it. Maybe Aithne didn't respond to well to 'cutesy' compliments, even if he did find her rather cute.
"So what do you say? We don't have to... rush anything. But I thought we could try us out." Because, honestly, Yayuka thought they could go well together.

"Oh..." She responded simply to him telling her that she was cute. He thought she was cute? Her ears laid against her skull as she thought about it, she wasn't exactly that sure of what to say to him. She liked the idea but at the same time she wasn't sure how this was supposed to work. She had seen some of her siblings with mates but the idea of it was still very odd to her that was for sure. She flicked her tail around behind her quietly not that sure of what to say.
"Well... I guess we could try." She said simply, she did like him, she just wasn't too sure how to go about saying it. She paused for a moment, wiggling her toes in the sand below her. "What do we do now?"

Her lack of enthusiasm might seem a bit disheartening, but... Yayuka did get what he wanted. For now, all he could do was assume she was uncertain about this. But with her agreeing like this, he had time to make her feel more comfortable with him, and with this new step they were taking. Personally, he looked forward to it!
"I think finding a way to get you off babysitting duty is a first step." He smiled, glancing back at the cubs, or wherever he had last seen them. They hadn't bothered to stay close, apparently. "Then we could find something fun to do."

Aithne turned toward the male and then looked past him and then toward the cubs that were running around the pride, the ones that she was supposed to be watching. She watched as they wrestled around playing she probably should be watching them better. "Give me... about 5 minutes, I'll find some one to take care of the brats." She said with a chuckle before nodding at her and then moving away from her spot. "I'll meet you at the dens later?" She asked him curiously hoping that he would agree.

Quite pleased with how this whole thing had gone, as he should be, Yayuka was happy to agree to her plan. "I'll be there." After all, what good was this whole thing if he wasn't willing to meet his new... he wasn't sure what she was to him now, but more than just a friend. Girlfriend, was it? Sounded almost juvenile and childish, really.
Anyways, Yayuka would be happy to meet Aithne at the dens! He was rather excited to explore this new relationship. He stood up normally then, glancing at Aithne was she headed off, went towards the dens. Oohoho, he looked forward to seeing her again!
