Arachne had spent the night dreaming up new things to create. She often got the most marvelous ideas from her dreams. Then she needed to spend time figuring out how to do what she'd dreamed up. Thus this morning when she'd awoken the black cheetahess had left the warm comfort of her den. With the sun just coming up she'd stretched herself out to take advantage of the most of it. Mornings were quiet peaceful affairs. It gave her time to collect herself. Arachne lay with her head slightly up and eyes closed, face turned toward the morning sun. She was still trying to envision how to accomplish the weaving she had dreamed of last night. It was complicated for sure. She was positive it would take months to collect the silk from her current spiders. And the dyeing alone was going to be a challenge. She would have to experiment how to add colors to the silks without ruining them.

Maleficar loved her strolls in the predawn into early morning. They allowed her time to think in the coldest part of the day. Of course some days that was not saying much, but at least it was a nice morning today. One where she did not feel suffocated by the heat, and when the sun came up, she did not feel like her fur was on fire. The hardest part about being who she was was her coloring and how it heated up and stayed hot in the sun. Maleficar hated that about her fur. There was nothing else she hated about herself, well not really. She might not like getting a soft spot for Dysi, the pansy that he was, but she did not HATE that about herself either. She was slowly coming to therms with how she felt about the very bright and kind leopard. The fact that she had just left him and was out and about again, probably did not hurt her mood any. In fact, it likely was the reason there was a bounce to her step and the very peekings of a smile growing on her muzzle. The leopardess would have probably had more than just the start of a smile if she was not paranoid someone might SEE her like that and think her weak. She was cruel and hard. She inspired fear and awe. She did smile like an idiot over a male, especially not that kind of a male. No how, no way would she do it. She thus kept the smile from creeping the whole way out. Maleficar was just about to lose the battle with that creeping smile when she noticed the cheetah on the rock. The smile was squashed completely and the leopardess put on her usual calm expression, waiting to see if the other would notice her.

The female cheetah was deep in thought when something pinged on her senses. She was torn between checking the source for danger, or not loosing her train of thought. Finally self preservation won. While Arachne didn't open her eyes, but kept them firmly close, she extended her other senses out. Her ears telling her how far away the unknown creature was. The ground under her body relayed vibrations that the creature had seen her and stopped, and was not running toward her. Her nose told her it was female and leopard. While she took all this information in Arachne didn't twitch. Her breathing didn't change. She looked as though she hadn't sensed the leopard's approach at all. Perhaps the leopard had come looking for her, and perhaps not. There was plenty she could do without hosting an unwilling guest. Arachne decided to bide her time and wait.

Maleficar waited for a bit, long enough that she was sure there was no way the other creature had missed her presence, unless the cheetah was stupid. Somehow Maleficar doubted this second option. She was in too good a mood to think the worst of such a dark and beautiful cheetah. The leopardess' voice was smooth as silk when she chose to speak. "Good morning to you." She saw no indicators of being noticed before, but perhaps having said something would change this. She still refused to believe the other creature stupid for the moment.
In Maleficar's experience, the stupid creatures were the ones that jumped right into an action without thinking and gave away their intentions long before they did it. They also tended to be brightly colored. She would not put Dysi in the stupid catagory for his coloring, though. No, he was anything but stupid. He WAS however a pansy and that would not change. She was not sure if something in his light coloring had affected his poor brain or what his excuse was, but he was a pansy. And his pansy was trying to infect her.

Then the leopard spoke. Arachne slowly opened her eyes to ovserve the dark creature. "And to you likewise," she replied with a mellow voice. Immediantly she saw the leopardess was no dire threat and remained relaxed. If she didn't have to get up just yet then she wasn't going to budge. The sun was warming her coat nicely after a long night in the dank cave she called home. "Passing through?" That was all the opening Arachne was going to give her. If this leopard wasn't looking for her, then all chances are she'd want to move on fairly quickly. Or perhaps she'd want some early morning company. One could never tell with the strangers that wandered through.

Maleficar was amused by how the cheetah responded. She was calm, collected, and not at all worried about the other creature before her. Usually it would have made the leopardess suspect the cheetah of weakness that she was not worried about her, but this cheetah gave an air of knowing her way around. It also did not hurt that it was a female and had such a dark coat. The spider webs were a nice touch, if Maleficar did say so herself. This cheetah probably gave a lot of creatures the creeps and the idea made the leopardess smile.
Maleficar gave the cheetahess a nod at her question. "Passing through but in no hurry." It was true. She was passing through, but she was in no hurry to move on. She did not have a destination in mind really, so she had all the time in the world. Eventually she would get where she decided she had been headed, and turn around to meet up with Dysi again. It was a nice arrangement that gave her the freedom she desired, but the comfort of a male to go back to. She squashed that thought quickly. She would not think of such mushiness again.

Arachne gave the leopardess a slow, knowing, answering smile. There was just something about them that tended to unnerve others. More than anything it amused her. She had no idea why other's tended to shy away at the sight of her or stutter. Maybe it was her spiders. The cheetahess flicked her tail, nearly dislodging the unwary spider from its web. "Join me if you wish company for the morning." It was an open offer. Arachne was having a pleasant morning and willing to share her warm spot. Sometimes it was possible for two creatures to enjoy company without really knowing the other. Such was this morning.

Maleficar was starting to like this cheetah. Well, as much as she ever really liked anyone besides Dysi. She saw this creature as on a level with herself and that was something to respect and tolerate the presence of. Most creatures she tolerated only if toying with them amused her. This was a much different kind of tolerance. This was kinship of a dark sort. It was something the leopardess rarely found, but appreciated all the more so when she did come across it. It was also something she would make sure that Dysi never saw. They did not need to corrupt this beautiful creature with his pansy influence.
"Company for the morning sounds pleasant." The offer of company was oddly welcome and Maleficar climbed onto the rock beside the cheetah to settle in and enjoy the warming sun. The sun was not hot and out to make her life miserable today, so she could enjoy it for once. The two might not know each other, might not ever cross paths again, but for the moment they shared a warm spot and an odd kinship born mostly of circumstance and mood.

The dark cheetah gave a contented exhale as the leopard joined her up on the rock. She lidded her eyes so the rising sun wouldn't bother her. She needed to be able to see when she went back into her cave after all. It wasn't often life was this relaxed. Something to be treasured for the busier days. Arachne glanced at Maleficar through barely slitted eyes. "When the heat seaks to burn, cool and dark caves may be to turn." She wasn't sure why she was prompted to give this advice to her fellow female. Perhaps it was how she moved in the light. Either way, advice was given. It was up to this leopardess how she would use it.

Maleficar half closed her eyes and gave a soft purr. The sun was delightful and the company was peaceful. It was a rare moment that she could enjoy a simple pleasure and not have to worry about how it would be viewed. This creature was feared and respected as much as she, so none would think less of either of them for this peaceful moment. That was the problem with being a badass like Maleficar. One had to mind one's reputation, and that was what bothered her so much about getting soft on Dysi. He was known for his mush and it reflected on her reputation to be seen with him and seen being kind to him.
The leopardess listened to the advice and filed it away. It was good advice, something that she often took when possible, but at this very moment, it would not be put into use. Thus the advice was best put away for later. "Wise words." Maleficar laid there with the other feline for sometime, but eventually the time to leave struck her. When it did, she hopped down, said her good byes, which were not long with these two, and away she went. It did not bother Maleficar in the least that she might never seen this cheetah again, and she was sure the cheetah felt the same toward her.
