Character Name: Raven
Alias: None
Physical Description: |Raven|
Personality Description: Being an empath, Raven's emotions and personality are linked directly to her powers. Along with her demonic origin, it was always, and still is, critical for her to maintain a level-head lest her father's will take control. Through meditation and training, she was honed to become a highly stoic, detached individual in order to keep her darkness away. To most on Earth, Raven is seen to be a callous individual, introverted and apathetic with a dark, moody cynicism about her. However, those who take the time to know can see her struggle to remain a vitreous person despite her the nefarious soul that dwells within her. Though still young by conscious time, Raven is quite enlightened and has an 'old soul' about her, presenting herself with a great level of maturity for such a short existence.
Age: Appears 25
Height: 5'5”
Weight: 110 lbs
Equipment: Her Chakara, a small red gem adhered to Raven's forehead which helps regulate her dark passions and desires afflicting her mind. Azar bestowed it upon her 13th birthday.
Powers: |Empathy|Empathic Healing|Emotion Negation|Soul Self|Levitation|Telekinesis|Asteral Projection|Accelerated Healing|Force Field Manipulation|Soul Scream|
Empathy: Psionic ability of empathy, the power to absorb emotions, enabling her to feel the feelings of others.
Emotion Negation: She can also use her empathy to steal emotions from others, rendering them emotionally "numb".
Empathic Healing: She can absorb the pain of injured people to ease their suffering, and induce rapid healing.
Soul-Self: Raven can manifest her "Soul-Self" through astral projection. It normally takes the form of either her human shape or a giant raven.
Levitation: She uses her telekinesis to simply lift and hover her body so that she may float off the ground.
Telekinesis: She demonstrates this power and ability most often, levitating boxes, buses, and other inanimate objects into the battle, all fully enshrouded in the same dark mystical energy that composes her soul-self. She has, on several occasions, demonstrated that she can use her telekinesis on living things, though she prefers to take control of inanimate things because, to use telekinesis, she has to put a little piece of her soul/spirit into her targets.
Teleportation: It also serves as a way to travel into other dimensions. Using her soul-self, she can teleport herself and others over vast distances.
Astral Projection: Through the use of her soul-self, Raven can project her consciousness into the mind, for therapeutic purposes (to aid in her own meditation, or to help calm an agitated ally), or for offensive attacks, rendering her enemies unconscious. She also can use this ability as a comm link with teammates over vast distances, even going so far as to construct a phantom apprehension of herself within their current environment.
Healing: Though her body lack much in damage threshold, Raven has the power and ability to heal minor wounds and injuries by going into a trance of emotional calm.
Forcefield Generation: Raven's magical abilities and telekinetic powers also allow her to create immediate forcefields around herself and nearby objects.
Soul Scream: Through use of her empathy and magic, Raven can absorb and borrow the emotional state of surrounding individuals and cast them out into the physical realm. Some can be conjured from her hands, others her mouth through a vicious screaming howl. These forces not only serve as magical shockwaves but can also create crippling emotional turmoil for those around the immediate area of impact.
Abilities: |Occultism|Sorcery|Multilingualism|
Given her demonic origin and mystical past, Raven has always been drawn towards the world of the occult. She is an accomplished sorceress and is well-versed in both Azerath and Earth based sorcery.
Over the years, she has become an avid reader and has mastered various languages including English, German, Latin, Romanian, Ancient Sumerian, and Sanskrit.
Biography
The story of Raven beings with a wayward runaway known as Angela Roth. A victim of the foster care system, Angela was on and off the streets most of her life. When she became legal guardian of herself, she joined a small coven of Gothamites in search of food, shelter, and the unconditional love and support she had always craved. However, as time passed, the small coven had shown itself to be a satanic cult. After a night of sacrificial rites and endeavors, she was visited by a being she could only describe as an angel. Seduced by its kind words and angelic demeanor, she gave herself to the creature in full. It was later she found out she had been deceived by Trigon, a demonic lord and conqueror of dimensions, and now was with child. As the vision and wretched feelings began to build up inside, Angela attempted suicide to terminate both herself and the demon spawn within. Her sorrow and pain became a beacon at this point, ushering in an intervention from an alien being. The Azerathians had felt her lament and intent from dimensions away, and rather than allow her to end the life inside, the beings insisted they could give it a second chance for they saw great potential in its creation. Though reserved, Angela gave in and crossed dimensional plains to the planet Azerath.
Months past on the peaceful plain and soon Angela gave birth to a wonderful baby girl. Given her dark azure eyes and violet locks, her mother granted her the name of Raven. However, not all was right with the small child. As expected, her father's demonic presence was apparent, Raven's aura and soul as black as night. Fearful of what could happen without immediate intervention, Raven was separated from Angela and placed into the hands of Azerath's spiritual leader, Azar. Under Azar's guidance, Raven wasn't coddled nor kept in the dark about her demonic origin. Instead, she was taught to battle it into submission through meditation. She lived without bonds nor relationships, both earthly and emotionally, striving for only tranquility and inner peace to subdue the war raging within. Day in and out, Raven learned to hone the darkness inside of her and became a skilled protectors of her people. She also excelled at educational endeavors, absorbing as much knowledge as she could muster from various different cultures.
All was well with Raven, until her 21st birthday when she received her first and only prophetic vision. It was in pieces, but she could hear the screams, feel the fire, the pain, the suffering- she could see her father and his arrival on a far off planet, the one on which she was conceived. Unable to ignore the horrific scenes, she spoke with the elders and explained her need to stop such an atrocity from happening to not only a world of innocent people, but an entire dimension. After several days of meditation and thought, they agreed with her deduction, opening the dimensional rift once more to allow her safe passage to planet Earth.
Raven has been a visitor of Earth for the past three years. Upon her arrival, she found herself on the outskirts of Metropolis where she was greeted by Garfield Logan who offered to take her in. Currently, she resides alongside him within the city and awaits her father's attempt at galactic domination.
