Mtanizi couldn't help it, it was like an itch inside his very fur, it crept from somewhere around his nape and trailed all the way down to his four limbs, making them occasionally jolt. They wanted to move, they wanted to pick up across the dry savannah, kicking up the dust into a golden whirlwind.
However, given that he had nowhere to go, and being a rogue, wasn't entirely familiar of his surroundings; he decided to stay put. Instead he focused the twitch onto another part of his body, and began to beat his tail rhythmically against the earth. What to do, what to do?
His mother wasn't far away, she was rooting around in a bush, probably for something to eat, or maybe just for the fun of it, she was a rather large child at heart. Mtanizi continued to pound his tail against the ground, as he lay stretched out, as he looked across into the distance, his mind disappeared across the horizon but his body did not.

Nosfermi was not one for boredom and never struggled to find something to keep herself occupied. Admittedly she was a touch of the impish side and a lot more forward than her mother, but there was nothing wrong with this and she knew it. She had been raised in a way that inspired confidence, but she'd also been raised in a way that encouraged creativity and openly rewarded it. Thus the artistic wild dog was always up to something - to an observer it might not make any sense whatsoever, but in her own mind it was perfectly understandable.
This afternoon was of no exception. The Wild Dog had woken up that morning, located some water and then had promptly trotted off in a random direction. Her paws had soon led her to an outcropping of rocks and after careful consideration she had elected to stay there. She had her reasons of course, good ones too, as the rocks were carefully spaced out with at least three supplying flat platforms.
...It was the perfect space to practice her acrobatics.
Thus she had waited for her shadow to lengthen and the heat to die down just a touch before she promptly leapt on to her 'stage' and did her stretches. Fully prepared, it was then that she began to dance, bouncing carefully from one platform to the next until she was accustomed to the distance - then and only then - would she add a little spice to her routine!

Mtanizis eyes were closed, although he was vaguely aware of a shuffling noise in the distance. His mind attributed it to something else, perhaps the vacant scurry of a beetle, the slow winding walk of a chameleon through a rather rough patch of rocks? The orange and white pelted wild dog was just beginning to drift off, too.
With a sigh that was rather too exaggerated to be genuine, he clambered onto his limbs and began to twist his head about, focusing on the ground level for any creature he could scare away from his perfect sleeping spot.
Something caught the corner of his eye, something similar in colour to the patches on his pelt, something bright orange and flying across the thinly veiled scenery behind some dry shrubbery. Looking up, he was at first convinced that it was part of the sun, maybe it had dislodged itself from the sky and was free-falling around the foliage..No, of course not.
He moved forward and was he saw was nearly as strange as what he had imagined. There was a creature, similar in breed to himself though he couldn't be sure, bounding about the rocks. Mtanizi yet out a surprised yelp, and then hurried to apologise, "Sorry, er.. I didn't see you there!"

Her mother's dance lessons had paid off rather well as she skidded to a halt, coiled her tail around her leg for additional support and fortunately, refrained from falling off the rock. Once she had regained her balance she released her tail's grip on her hind leg and slowly turned round to face Mtanizis, at which point she lifted a brow and stared at him for what seemed like an age. Her humour was a touch more dry than her mother's to say the least...
"You didn't see me," she repeated doubtfully before gazing down at her incredibly bright coat. Against the boulders she stuck out like a sore thumb, positively glowing against the grey. Nevertheless she had heard that observation was not the strong spot of certain animals, or genders, and she could only surmise that maybe he was one of those...the non observant types that would get trampled by an elephant or swallowed by a snake.
...Just because that could totally happen.
"You might want to get your eyes checked," she mused and took a seat, peering at the male until she had decided that she had identified him correctly, he looked like one of her brothers and therefore she knew he would be a male wild dog. Albeit a lazy wild dog with bad eyesight, but who was she to judge!
"But it's okay, I didn't fall and smack my head so you're forgiven. Sound good?"

He cocked a brow and surveyed the scene once more. To him, it was a rather odd one. The female indeed did have a rather blinding pelt, but beautifully so. She stood staring at him for almost an age, and he stood there limply. It was entirely possible to not notice a bright orange wild dogs, bouncing around... wasn't it?
"My eyes are fine, I assure you. Thankfully." He looked the female up and down with a slight smirk. "I was just about to drift off when I heard you shuffling over here, I thought maybe someone was in danger." His sarcastic tone surely wouldn't help him in what wasn't the friendliest of encounters already, so he gave her a wild smile.
"Sorry to interrupt you miss, glad you're okay, what exactly erm, were you doing?" Mtanizi asked politely, all the while curious as to why someone would go bounding around on some rocks for the sheer pleasure, especially in this draining heat. He loved nothing better than a long drink and a lie in the shade. I suppose wandering around the roguelands for so long had done that to him. He used to be full of adventure, hard to keep still; rather like his mother, actually.

"Ooooh I see, I see," Nosfermi nodded enthusiastically as if she understood his thought process. So he had assumed she was in danger? She glanced around her immediate area and the largely barren plains. Granted there may have been some individuals camouflaged in the depths on the long grasses but she couldn't detect anyone or anything of interest. Upwind, downwind, nada - the only thing she could smell was him and well...What was there to say about that, eh?
"You know if I was in trouble, it would probably sound more like this -" she paused, took a deep breath and then began to wail in a high pitched tone, her ears flattening against her head. "HELP! Oh my gods I'm dying! Somebody help, he's going to EAT ME!" she continued in this dramatic manner for quite some time, providing a full blown performance. A twitch here, a flail there, anyone would have thought she was in the middle of a play - it was only after a minute or two that she stopped abruptly and took a seat.
"But I'm not, so it's fine," she gave a sage nod and promptly tilted her head to the side. "And what do you mean 'what are you doing',?" she gave a snort and lifted a paw to point at each rock. "I'm dancing!" she stated, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

His blue eyes widened, and then he couldn't help it. A high pitched laugh rippled through his body, taking hold of his stomach as he watched Nosfermi's performance. It was so unexpected and dramatically real that he'd never really seen anything like it before.
As his laughter died down he gave her a smile. God, he'd needed that. Mtanizi had spent so much time being so serious that he questioned whether or not he knew how to have fun anymore. Tilting his head to mirror hers he nodded gently, catching his breath. "I see." Her nature that he'd already been subjected to reminded him rather greatly of his mother. She was playful and fun, too.
"I'm Mtanizi by the way, may I ask your name?" His sarcastic tone was suddenly dropped, and the orange and white wild dog found himself feeling a lot more comfortable. "We-I'm just wandering. I have been for awhile.." He trailed off slightly.

"Aha, see you're so much nicer when you drop the attitude," she mused, a smile lifting onto her lips as she regarded the wild dog for a moment. Whatever had been bothering him had now settled and he had settled in her company. Not that she would have given him much longer to adapt as she wasn't the best fan of grumpy individuals...if he'd kept up that charade she would have been gone in the blink of an eye (or maybe three).
"My name's Nosfermi," she replied after a few moments. She lifted a paw and rubbed at her ear before raising a brow. "Those a lot of folks just call me Mimi, I'm not sure why though, since my name isn't that hard to remember," she continued and released a dramatic sigh. The world was a strange place sometimes and she knew better than to question such small issues like that. However, one thing had caught her attention and she leant forward just a touch.
"We...?"

"We?... I didn't say we!" He paused dramatically. If a lady found out that he'd been travelling with his mother? Sheesh, that would not be cool. Speaking of which, he was sure that Mataka wasn't far from here, wherever she'd gone. Suppose she just wandered into the conversation and introduced herself? She liked to do that.
Mtanizi began to panic. Indeed a grown adult male wild dog, roaming the rogue-lands with his mother. Not attractive at all. Sometimes he wondered why on earth he didn't just go it alone.
Then he remembered. She needed him.
"Mtanizi..." A small voice grew louder from the bushes.
Mtanizi whipped his head around with a groan. "Mimi, it was a pleasure to meet you, but I've got to go." He turned around quickly, and with that, shot off in the direction of his mothers voice.
((Sorry, was one post short I just noticed! <33))
